Scent reaches us like sound and imagery, it is a hidden world and one that is full of meaning. Smells carry memories and have a language of their own. They carry memories, memories for individual and groups, the scent is present in the sacred and the mundane, smells are constructed, accidental, intrusive, pervasive, we interpret smells and place meaning in them. Like all other sensory interpretation, smell connects with our memory, the act as a trigger, and function like a primal language, with essential meaning, that triggers images, words, recollections. The past.
Seeta muller will hold an open studio on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning as the main artist in residency and director of Museelab.
An artist studio is a place of creating, a personal space where the artists also reflect on their practice. Throughout history, there has been a mystique associated with the artist's studio as a workspace, a private space, a place of creating, a space that represents art in genesis. Seeta has invited artists Lizzie Coleman currently based in Frankfurt to engage in a studio exchange/exhibition as both artists will exhibit in 2 location Sable Sur Sarthe and Frankfurt with a possible third location to announce in 2022.

In this work found object/fabrics create an intimate sculpture and an echo of the past, that are held in everyday objects, objects that carry secrets, and are a remnant of past life and psychological, a memory. The objects are stacked, piled, and stored.
The fabric is constructed within the room as an installation. The material takes on human-like forms and represent a semiotic association to the human body. In the studio space, the fabrics are wrapped and twisted on furnishing and carpets. The fabric forms also create a reflection on the place, the house, the town. The fragments of ordinary history, complex and unknown, intelligible through remnants, and never complete. The material is old, savaged, and found, domestic goods, unwanted fabrics, the object of every day, the past and present.
The work will include a set of drawings created with faint colour in gum arabica, drawings without beginning nor end, images and details of the croquet loops from the curtains and table cloths found in the empty rooms of the house, the repetitive loops are drawn on each occasion the studio space is occupied by the artist.
The repetitious drawing is in a state mirroring decay. The experience of the object in its current condition marks its passage in a cycle. Instead of focusing on a final artwork, the emphasis is on the process. The condition. Materials and techniques are in balance and reflect the surrounding. They concentrate, reflect, and contain everything around them. And become an element. And finally a work.
Past objects and incomplete memories are reoccurring notions in the artist's practice. The continued exploration of absence.

Fabric of life 2021
For the residency at MuseeLab I have made a series of deconstructed textiles with repurposed Jute sacks, one has the remains of a text from a song/quote fool me once, fool me twice are you death or paradise?
In response to photographic images sent by Seeta of the site/house I have made a series of wallhangings that should be lit from behind revealing both text and structure of the jute, beneath is the remains of the removed threads.
Ancient dialogues from another generation.
In each of the exhibition sites, specific pieces will be made, planned spaces, Musee Lab, Sable, France, Atelier frankfurt Studio320, Frankfurt am Main.
