a few years ago i read elfen lied in its entirety and sometimes i still remember how bad it was and how i couldn't believe it ever got an adaptation. the art wasn't amazing anyway but the plot was so contrived and ridiculous i had to put it down several times because it just couldn't be taken seriously i was like offended the author was making me read that nonsense. the anime was still pretty cheesy but in comparison they really polished the source material by focusing on the premise and drastically cutting and altering everything else. which for example included deleting a whole recurring character whose entire personality was that she's a school girl who wears diapers and pees nonstop lmao like come on man
