Top knot locs! It was a journey that took some time, 1.5 days. She had a lot of healthy and thick hair. She wanted thin locs and extend them with human hair so she could wear them up and make braids. I made little squares that were about 1cm and extended them on the spot. In the picture it almost looks like a full head of locs, but in reality it's only the part of her head. Sides and rear are completely shaven down, amazing! I forgot to count how many locs I made, sorry! Using the right shampoo is key. There's no need for expensive shampoos specially designed for locs, but you do need shampoo that aids the locking process. This client came in for maintenance only one month after installing them. Right of the bat I saw the wrong shampoo was used. His locs were supersoft and came undone. He used shampoo that softened his hair which made the hairs slip. I adviced him using a shampoo that doesn't make the hairs soft and starting off he should look to shampoos that even take the greasyness off and make it more course. In the future he can change it to something more balanced. Usually I advice to wash with shampoo for greasy hair or soapbars like @happysoaps or @natureboxbeauty also the soapbars and shampoos from @dollylocks I have great experience with, but they are on the more expensive side of shampoos. Detoxing is only necessary once or twice a year. Too often and your scalp gets dry and flaky. As for this client, I made his locs all tidy again and he went to go get him a soapbar. At this point I don't sell any myself. Maintenance in a new client coming from Belgium. His last maintenance was more than 6 months ago. He had a lot of long loose hairs up to 20 cms long. I had to make new sections and backcomb the hairs before making a new sturdy base. He was one happy camper sending me positive vibes. Will see him for his next appointment in 2 months 🥰 For info. A regular client of mine came in for maintenance and an extra row of locs with extensions. She made the extensions herself. She saved the hairs that were left after brushing her normal hair. She had enough hair saved to make 6 extensions. The extensions came out really well 🥰 I always love to work on her hair. She has such a beautiful color and texture of hair and she is always such a great and fun personality to be with 🥰 This time around we weren't much fun (my husband and I, our daughter was at daycare) because both of us had a cold really bad, achoooo! Installed a dreadlockmullet in this client. He was working in the Netherlands, but originally comes from Portugal. I see more clients from abroad who come to work here and I am amazed at how little they get paid in their country though living costs are almost the same as here. Think of wages of about €600,- a month. It's not possible to live from it. They come work for their family. Something we don't think about I think. We should be more grateful and understanding. Installed a set of very short locs and Thin locs with blunted tips going sideways. First I made the sectioning with rubber bands which I normally don't do ( I make a row of sections and locs at a time) It was nice to do something different than usual and it came out great! A very young one coming from Lithuania and working here. Very wise and hard working lad. Making money for his family and future. We had a good chat about the life here and in Lithuania while our little munchkin was wreaking havoc 🤣 She pulled all the toys and books out of boxes and shelves. It was literally everywhere 😅 We didn't sleep very well due to the full moon and it was apparent in her behavior she needed a good afternoon sleep so she went to bed and is still sleeping. We survived the havoc and the client went home happy. This time I went to a new client and took our daughter with me. It was a challenge! Although this client had a daughter too, she was a little younger and couldn't crawl yet so the house wasn't ready for a little one exploring every inch of the room. Between the breaks for lunch, getting our daughter out of cupboards, drawers and prying her fingers off of thinks that weren't safe or could easily break and consoling when she wasn't happy about something we did manage to do most of the work asked. Still happy with the result. Only a bit of frizzyness on the locs in the back was left. The client could do this herself. I'll probably won't see her again because she's imigrates to Suriname with her family. Very interesting to hear about the life they are planning to have there. This was the first appointment after installing her locs 2 months ago. I asked her to come a little sooner because I extended her locs and her hair was very short so I wanted to see how they were holding up. I was pleased to see they are doing great. Only one extension needed a little strengthening. Last time she helped our daughter to sleep better with an Ankh healing. This time she entertained her while my husband had to go to an appointment.
