funny how some pieces of influential or iconic media is parodied soooo much in the children's media you grew up with, that later when an adult shows you the original thing you just end up bored and wondering why that adult is talking about the premise like it's new and interesting.

because the supposedly interesting set-up has already been so overplayed at you for most of your life, you cannot understand what's so fascinating about it besides being a more fleshed out version of a trope you're already extremely familiar with.
