What Turned me Gay: How to Introduce Someone to Gay Wrestling
It's no secret that wrestling turned me gay. High school wrestling turned into a passion for pro wrestling, which evolved into an obsession with gay wrestling. Now, while my journey is unique to me, I wondered, how do you turn someone on to gay wrestling?
What turned me gay (not really) ...
Troy & Brian Baker v Vinny Trevino & Joshua Goodman (bgeast.com)
This post, inspired by the sidelineland.com blog, takes a tongue and cheek look into "what made me gay (not really)" and in thinking about the topic of introducing someone to gay wrestling, it's helpful to go back to the beginning - at least my beginning.
My first exposure to gay wrestling was on bgeast.com and boy do I still have vivid memories of that experience. Those wrestler profiles, the exciting match descriptions, all of it worked to overly stimulate my young imagination. Reading about those grunting and groaning men made me feel like I was there, in the ring with them and feeling every strained bicep or the pain of a perfectly timed ball claw. One particular image forever sealed in my memory from that day was an aggressive Brigham Bell flex-straddling a helpless Dino Serra in a schoolboy pin. Brigham's cocky look, that vain bicep flex all worked to supercharge my interest.
Brigham Bell v Dino Serra (bgeast.com)
Later, after months, maybe even years of research, when I was finally able to buy my first Bgeast DVD, I picked up Tag Team Torture 3 - specifically because of Mr.Troy Baker. Now it wasn't intentional but what's key here is that I picked a gay wrestling match without the sex. As it happened, Troy Baker simply didn't do nudity and after all my 'research' there was no stopping me from wanting to see him.
Troy & Brian Baker v Vinny Trevino & Joshua Goodman (bgeast.com)A gay wrestling match without the gay sex
I mean can you blame me?
All that to say that my first introduction to gay wrestling was less about guys doing it and more about the wrestling. Of course I visited other gay sites devoted purely to sex, but somehow keeping them separate - gay wrestling and gay porn helped. In fact, it intensified my gay wrestling passion since there was just nothing hotter than being taken to the edge of excitement, only to be denied it. Gay wrestling wasn't just a cheesy prelude to the sex, it was an epic story of powerful emotions, humiliation, and masculinity. Needless to say I was hooked.
Flyboy v Jose (bgeast.com)
Another gay wrestling classic without the sex.
I won't go as far to say that I didn't need the release that typical porn had to offer, but what I will say is that the images of hot guys straining their muscles or the guttural moans each fighter made was simply hotter than anything else I had seen before. Whether it was the intense cries of defeat or the shakiness in their voice when the adrenaline was flowing; all of that was heaven to me.
Mars v Bjorn (wrestler4hire.com)
But the thing that did it for me was the intense realness that gay wrestling brought. The sweat that proved each man was a fighter, the trash talk boasting how they would dominate each other, and the humiliation showing there were real consequences to all this, all worked in concert to fuel what was rapidly becoming my obsession.
Grant Phelps v Mark Molina (movimuswrestling)
Movimus: The most wrestling focused studio.
At stake in each wrestling match was a piece of a man's masculinity and pride, with the winner stripping the loser of everything they had. Gay wrestling to me was everything but the sex, everything but the climax, all of which made it a thousand times hotter.
So how do you welcome someone to all that gay wrestling has to offer? Following my path I'd recommend jumping into a classic high quality match minus the sex from a studio like Bgeast then alternating between a studio that offers more sex to one that offers more wrestling.
After awhile you'll figure out where you land on this spectrum (wrestling and sex) and really begin to see where the stars align for you. Now for me, if I had to guess what the perfect mix would be, it would be something like 75% wrestling and 25% sex, but to each their own.
Ron Masters v Cody Brooks (can-am.com)
Can-Am: The most sex focused studio.
Jonathan Bennett v J Durango (bgenterprises)
Bgenterprises: Sometimes all wrestling, sometimes all sex.
Logan v Drake (nrwrestling.com)
Nrwrestling: The most non-gay gay wrestling studio.
Luke Truong v Mack Mahoney (muscleboywrestling.com)
Muscleboywrestling: More sex focused than wrestling.
Cali Boy v Christian Thorn (wrestler4hire.com)
Wrestler4hire: More wrestling than sex.
Cody v Tanner Ripley (undergroundwrestler.com)
Undergroundwrestler: Gay wrestling with everything but the nudity.
Kid Leopard v Sean Cannon (bgeast.com)
Bgeast: This studio has everything on the wrestling-sex continuum.
When I first started watching gay wrestling there were really just a few options but now there are countless variations to entertain yourself with. Some of you may prefer more sex, others more wrestling, but whatever the type of gay wrestling you ultimately become interested in, it really is up to you. You see this story, this journey of how I came to obsess over gay wrestling is unique to me as it is to every other person's passion and without a doubt something that turned me gay (not really).

That Wrestling Moment: The Jeff Clark Perspective (nrwrestling.com)
Heel or Jobber? It is the enteral question in gay wrestling after all. But I say, why pick one when you can have both? I bring to you - the Jeff Clark perspective.
Jeff Clark POVs (nrwrestling.com)
SPOILER ALERT: I highly recommend viewing this match in its entirety before reading this post.
The Backstory
I was slow to catch on to POVs in gay wrestling. Maybe I was distracted when they came out or maybe I didn't see the appeal but I gotta say that after watching Jeff Clark; well that man is a league of his own in POVs.
The Action
We start with Jeff dominating his opponent in all his glory. Unfortunately in this case, his opponent about to get the beat down is YOU. Jeff enters the ring, all 6 feet 2 inches of pure confidence. The man may look like the heel of your dreams but don't get distracted my friend or you will regret it. He's ready to kick some serious tail.
Jeff: This is it. Your one chance with Jeff Clark. You ready for this?
And just like that you are down. It happened so quick. You barely had a chance to look up and down Jeff's hairy, muscular body before he put you down.
To prove how much of an alpha he is, Jeff keeps you down. Stomp after stomp. The guy won't let up.
Jeff knows you've been checking him out and just to taunt you even more, he strips off that sexy red singlet to let that even sexier hairy chest breath.
Jeff has a good time trashing you. By now you're numb to all the pain but Jeff is enjoying that glazed look on you and knowing that you are never coming back from this.
On second thought, Jeff is enjoying this entirely too much. That smile, if it weren't so sexy, would be humiliating to see how much he's enjoying this.
You were never ready for all of him. As a result, your hairy chested dominator stands over your beaten body. He proved he's the man and now he's just toying with you before delivering the knockout blow.
The Moment
It seemed like you'd never recover from that punishment but you slowly make it to your feet and vow to get your revenge on Jeff. You become obsessed with getting even. You want to humiliate him like he did to you but if you're being honest, deep down you're driven by more than that. You hunger for the man ...
I mean look at him taunting you and every other human on the planet stretching that sexy body on the ropes.
Now you may not be proud of it but you had to resort to dirty tricks to level the playing field. I mean this is Jeff Clark - no mortal wrestler can stand up to him.
Three punches in a row. He sure didn't let up on you so you won't let up on him.
The most important part is to lay him out like he laid you out. Hairy chest and abs exposed. All of this in anticipation for the beatdown.
There's the two hander to those hairy abs.
The hits are coming ... but remember that it means more when he's good and ready.
The man can barely hold himself up. He's ready...
This is the moment when your beatdown is complete. This is still wrestling after all and you proved your point.
So what have we learned today? Well, this is the season of giving but depending on who you are - you will have preferred either Jeff giving it or taking it. Personally I enjoyed both - looking up at a dominating, in-charge Jeff Clark owning you is just as thrilling as getting your hands on that sexy chest and abs. You see that's one of the things that's so seductive about gay wrestling Jeff Clark, the man is equally beautiful whether he's brutally dominating you or moaning his submissions.

That Wrestling Moment: Standing up to your Bully - Madman v Hammer (nrwrestling.com)
How do you take down a bully? Perhaps you bide your time, let him get over confident, and wait for him to make a mistake before striking? In this match we see the guy we love to hate, madman Mitch Styles get his own comeuppance.
Madmen v Hammer (nrwrestling.com)
SPOILER ALERT: I highly recommend viewing this match in its entirety before reading this post.
The Backstory
Madman Mitch Styles was tearing a path through nrwrestling. He took down everyone in his path. Now the guy is a rotten bully no doubt but that tall, tanned, muscled body, and most of all, that attitude of his made it hard to peel my eyes away from watching him terrorize the other wrestlers.
The Action
The wrestling begins as you would expect with the Madman living up to his reputation. The guy has been terrorizing all the young bucks at NRW and the sexy, do-gooding Hammer might be the next to fall victim to his bullying. Within a few minutes our hero is trapped in the corner and subjected to a barrage of blows from the bully.
Madman is not only a heel but a true force to reckon with. The guy is crazy but nonetheless absolutely captivating.
I could go on in detail about the 'action' but really it's all just a one-sided slug-fest from a bully pounding away on poor Hammer. The redeeming factor is that we the audience are treated with that golden sexy body relentlessly beating away at our hero. You have to give it to Madman, he goes. all. in.
At some point you may question what is going on with Hammer? The guy is a fit stud and needs to process whatever he's going through fast so he can fight back. You can't take it from a bully forever. Bully's are never satisfied. Bully's are never able to stop themselves; they need to be stopped.
The Moment
It all seemed like the logical conclusion. Bully's need someone to stand up to them and our moment is of course when Hammer does just that. The final moments of our match is when Hammer has had enough of our bully.
Is it believable? Well, that's really up to you to decide. But what we can all agree on is how gratifying it is to watch our obnoxious but deeply sexy bully receive all that payback.
So what have we learned today? We see that a match doesn't have to be too real to be satisfying. This is wrestling after all, and gay wrestling means you never have to apologize, especially not to someone bullying you.

That Wrestling Moment: What is gay wrestling anyway?
I'm always struggling to explain gay wrestling to people and part of my struggle comes from trying to explain what exactly gay wrestling is. So with that, consider this public service announcement - the wrestling moment when things turn gay.
Mitch Colby v Jobe Zander (bgeast.com)
The Backstory
Now before there were "hump" matches, ball bashing matches, and any other overtly gay themed matches, there was simply gay pro wrestling. It's hard to imagine right? Gay porn without the porn. But that's where you're wrong because if you look close enough, the signs for gay pro wrestling are everywhere and it's much better than porn in my opinion.
These matches didn't need to flash nudity or include guys making out or heavy petting - these matches were gay because it took into account the gay audience in mind and had something extra. So what is it about some wrestling that makes it gay pro wrestling?
I submit for your approval, my explanation for gay pro wrestling.
The Action
It's a focus on the wrestlers and with it, slow, lingering camera angles. I'd say that regular pro wrestling tends to focus on the story line and plot while gay pro wrestling on the other hand, is driven by the men and wrestling for it's own sake. Things like championship titles, win-loss records, are all meaningless compared to the wrestling itself.
Flyboy v Christopher Bruce (bgeast.com)
Axel v Kenny Star (ucwrestling.com)
Kid Thing v Steel (thundersarena.com)
The match is over only when both men are exhausted. There's no phony victories, outside interference, or quick 3 counts here. A match is only finished when neither man can go on.
Lon Dumont v Pete Sharp (bgeast.com)
Cai Li v Axel (ucwrestling.com)
Bringing me to my next point, there's a certain intensity, a dominance and submission. Being the champ is not the goal. Winning is in there somewhere but dominating your opponent is what they're all after. Sure, some matches have sex but honestly, sex is the afterthought to domination/submission. I'd say it's not gay wrestling without domination/submission.
Dark Rogers v Jason Ward (bgeast.com)
Steve Tanner & Jesse Zane v Bruno the Beast & Masked Bruiser (muscleboywrestling.com)
Cali Boy v Scrappy (undergroundwrestler.com)
The Moment
If it were just sex that would be one thing, but gay pro wrestling is so much more. Gay pro wrestling means a sweaty, hard fought match in the ring, on the mat, or in your opponent's mind. This style of wrestling is contained in the competition. Where it doesn't matter who has the championship belt, but how the fight itself makes you feel.
I love gay pro wrestling precisely because there is no plot or extra gimmicks and because the wrestling itself is the narrative. What is it they say, perfection is not when something can be added but when nothing more can be taken away? Gay pro wrestling is perfect to me because it's all the raw emotion and nothing more.

Double Team Triumph: Jeff Clark v Meadlock & Lorenzo (nrwrestling.com)
A successful two-on-one match needs the right formula. It can't be too one sided where we feel sorry for the guy and trust me when I say that no one is feeling sorry for Jeff Clark - the man easily takes on two wrestlers at a time.
Jeff Clark v Meadlock & Lorenzo (nrwrestling.com)
SPOILER ALERT: I highly recommend viewing this match in its entirety before reading this post.
The Backstory
Built like a football player, Jeff Clark is one imposing dude. Six feet two inches of pure muscle, the man is a force to reckon with and just the kind of guy to teach two punks a lesson. Enter Meadlock and Lorenzo, two wisecracking, disrespectfully punks, foolish enough to challenge Jeff in the ring.
Lorenzo: This guy's... *swallow* a little big
Jeff: Let's see what you got!
Like a couple of hyennas the pair instantly begin to think of ways to pull dirty tricks on nice guy, Jeff Clark.
The Double Team
Following a cheap sucker punch, the two begin double teaming Jeff. Though they're trash talking punks, they know enough that the only way they can take a big solid dude, with massive arms and legs, like Jeff down is with dirty tactics.
Oh you poor silly punks. Your payback is waking up and coming at in you three... two... one...
The Triumph
Payback comes hard and fast for Meadlock and Lorenzo. It just goes to show you to never turn your back on the ocean, or in this case a hulking muscle bear like Jeff Clark. So don't turn your back on the ocean, Jeff Clark, or any force of nature really because if you do, you'll regret it.
Jeff getting to his feet like it's go time.
You guys are fucked.
Lorenzo is looking small in Jeff's massive grip.
Meadlock doesn't fare much better, crying out in agony.
The setup ...
Knocking down the pins
Dominate the small guy and make his partner watch. Meadlock covers his face not wanting to see his eventual fate.
Meadlock embarrassingly tries to crawl away. He's might be done but Jeff isn't done with him.
All of that leading up to the finale - the double bearhug. Jeff Clark crushes two scrawny punks with those massive arms.
And that's how one became greater than two. Jeff is just too strong for two men, let alone two punks like Meadlock and Lorenzo. It was a huge mistake letting the big man catch his breath because shortly afterwards, he was ready to dominate them both in the ring. Actually it's Jeff's ring now and well, you can say otherwise, but the last guys that did were forced to grovel and submit to the alpha.

Nick Gold (nrwrestling.com) / Chase (undergroundwrestler.com) / Chase Lundquist (88wrestling.com)
Some guys are almost too pretty to wrestle. Okay, okay that felt wrong to say, but take for example - Nick Gold / Chase.
Nick Gold (nrwrestling.com) / Chase (undergroundwrestler.com)
The guy could be a model if he wanted to. His opponents also treat him like a fragile work of art; like they're afraid of destroying something so pretty - this ain't fight club after all. While I can't say I know his story, but for a time, it seemed like Nick/Chase was everywhere before vanishing without a trace. It's a pity really but understandable, after all, nothing pretty lasts forever.

What Turned me Gay (Not Really) - OTK Backbreaker
It took me a while to admit that erotic wrestling was my thing. In fact there was a period of time when I deluded myself into thinking I was into the athleticism *cough cough* involved in wrestling. Low and behold, one day I did have an epiphany, a wake up call of sorts, when the homo eroticism of wrestling was far too obvious to hide and that was the day I saw the Over the knee backbreaker.
What turned me gay (not really) ...
Evan Karagias v Chris Jericho - Over the Knee Backbreaker
This post, inspired by the sidelineland.com blog, takes a tongue and cheek look into "what made me gay (not really)" and I have to say, this move didn't so much turn me anything, but rather made it impossible to deny that Wrestling = Erotic.
I couldn't not show Alex Wright in this position
Arn Anderson v Marcus Bagwell
So picture it, me, a young boy watching WCW when all of sudden I am awe struck by the sight of a wrestler in an Over the Knee (OTK) Backbreaker. To say the hold was emasculating was an understatement, and to say that the move got me excited was an overshare. Needless to say the hold itself awakened something inside of me. I recall being glued to the television set and riveted by the action taking place on screen, so much so that my brother gave me a hard time about liking the hold, a bit too much.
Brother: "That hold is weak and totally fake. Why do you keep rewinding it to watch it? I bet it doesn't even hurt."
Me: "..."
Brother: "I mean it looks dumb. And it's sooooo gay."
Me: "..." [Grabs pillow to place on my lap]
Now there are obviously many an erotic wrestling hold out there and the OTK backbreaker is not overtly sexual, so what was it about it that had such a pull on me in a youth? The crotch claw comes to mind as another erotic wrestling hold and so do many types of pins, so what's special about this?
Well, what makes the OTK backbreaker special to me is that it contains a certain exhibition, dominance, and most of all, a vanity to it. Few other holds out there can match the OTK backbreaker as a way to showcase your sexy jobber to the audience. Furthermore, it also requires an eagerness to submit to your heel as the hold demands the cooperation of the jobber in order to work. Now if that combination doesn't deserve deeper thought, then I don't know what does.
What I would've given to have access to all these OTK images way back then ... *sigh*
Cameron Matthews v Lorenzo Lowe (bgeast.com)
Travis Bennett v Taylor Reign (muscleboywrestling.com)
Jeff Clark v Flash (nrwrestling.com)
Cai Li v Champion Axel (ucwrestling.com)
Austin Cooper v Drake Marcos (bgeast.com)
The parody movie, But I'm a Cheerleader, constantly reminds the audience that homosexuality has a root and that finding that root is important - now I'm not sure I buy into any of that, but that's really not the point; For me at least, from that moment on, I simply couldn't ignore wrestling or create convincing delusions or excuses on why I really watched it.
You see, the sight of a handsome Evan Karagias bent over Chris Jericho's knee was a root of sorts. After that, there was simply no going back to my other fantasies and without a doubt the OTK backbreaker turned me gay (not really).
Evan spends a good 15-20 seconds on Chris' knee
