Me and Matt have been best friends for so long we just understand each other on a level no one else does .
We had a whole trip to a cabin in Oregon planned with me , Matt , Chris, Nick and a couple other friends but they all had to cancel since Chris got invited to a music event he’s wanted to go to for years and Nick and everyone else just weren’t feeling it anymore.
It’s not a big deal that you and Matt were going alone but you were nervous since you haven’t gone on a trip just the two of you let alone to a remote cabin in the middle of !NO WHERE! but none the less Matt was excited to get off the grid for a couple days and relax.
You packed a good amount of warm clothes since the trip was for a week and a half and it was gonna be a little cold since it was fall . You packed a couple bikinis too since the place had a hot tub which was Chris’s request but you weren’t mad about it.
You finished packing and called matt to tell him your packed and ready for your 3 am flight and he can come pick you up when he is ready.

Text to y/n
Matt-Hey I’m otw be there in about 10 y/n- kk sounds good
I’m excited for this trip me and y/n have always talked about wanting to go to Oregon in fall since we absolutely love fall and Oregon is so pretty during fall.
I turned on some music otw to pick y/n up . As I was driving I started to get a little nervous thinking about how it’s just gonna be me and her on the trip but I’m not upset about it since she’s one of the only people I can be authentically myself around without any judgment. I love having her in my life and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I also have something to talk to her about that might make shit very awkward but ig we’ll find out
I texted her that I was outside as I pulled up and hopped out and popped the trunk so I could put her suitcase in the back
She came out and smiled at me while she locked the door .I took her suitcase from her and gave her a hug and put it in the trunk while she hopped into the car
Y/n pov- god Matt I’m so exited you don’t even know and best believe I’m going to force you to take insta pics for me
Mat just laughed and rolled him eyes a little bit knowing you’d say that . About 30 minutes later you got to the lax airport, parked the car and got onto the shuttle that took you to the south west terminal. You guys got through security quickly given you both have tsa precheck
You made it to your boarding spot and sat for about 20 minutes before you guys boarded the plane
After a 2 and a half hour flight you landed in Oregon you went to baggage claim and grabbed your bags and then picked up the car Matt had rented it was an all black jeep with red interior. You threw your bags into the trunk and got on the road . It was about an hour drive to sandy which is where the cabin was .
You drifted off to sleep since you had pulled an all nighter .
Matt shook you awake softly as you opened your eyes you saw nothing but the woods and cabin . you smiled him still a little groggy and he told you to go inside and he’d bring in y’all’s bags . You gladly obliged and went to unlock the door with the key the owners left under the doormat and walked in . it was so cozy and dark in the cabin which is exactly why you picked it. You went up to find the master bedroom since you had to pee really bad and after the long flight and ride.
Matt’s pov-
I brought in the bags and walked up the stairs to the master bedroom setting our bags down I went into the closet to start hanging up some stuff as y/n walked out and grabbed her bag to start doing the same . After I finished hanging my stuff I turned to hug her from the back and she giggled a little as she rapped her arms over mine and leaned back a little into my chest my heart fluttered and I don’t know why but she makes my heart flutter from small sweet things she does.
We walked out of the closet and I decided to order some pizza and start a fire since y/n said she was gonna take a shower and boy does she love her hour long showers .
The pizza just got here and I payed the driver and went to set it on the dark green and marble island as I heard y/n walk down the stairs. I saw she had taken one of my big fluffy sweatshirts I had brought and was wearing it with thigh high fluffy socks . She loves to take my sweatshirts since their so big on her and I don’t mind cause she looks so cute in them.
Y/n pov-
Hey sorry I took your sweatshirt I just felt like wearing it it’s so big and comfy you said to Matt as you saw him starring at you .
Oh no I don’t mind Matt said it looks good on you . You blushed from the compliment and sat down at the island to start eating after you guys finished Matt put y’all’s plates in the sink and said you should go sit in the living room and pick a movie to watch .
You sat right in front of the fire Matt had started and zoned out staring into the flames.
Matt came in and sat next to you and rapped his arm around your back rubbing softly bringing you out of your trance you leaned into his shoulder
Something on your mind he asked
Oh no, was just watching the fire the flames are so pretty to me you said laughing a little he looked down at you and took a breathe before speaking
Matt’s pov-
I’ve been wanting to bring something up to y/n but I’m feeling a bit nervous since it’s a little weird
Y/n I spoke kind of nervously
She looked up at me hearing my nervous voice yeah she said
I looked deeply in her eyes I have this fantasy I’ve been thinking about and your always the person that comes to mind I said
Alright well you know you can tell me anything Matt so spill she said with a little smirk
Okay well… I kinda wanna I paused to rub my neck with my hand nervously I wanna chase you through the woods and if I catch you I fuck you right in the woods with nothing but darkness surrounding us
Y/n fully turned to face me shocked by what I said she had a deep red flush across her face as she took a shaky breathe before she spoke you’ve fantasied about this a lot ? She questions with a small smirk
Yes so many times I say
She looked so deep in my eyes and said okay I’ll do it
I was taken back from her words you … you will I said still shocked
Absolutely 100 percent I’ve fantasized about something exactly like this after reading my favorite book haunting Adeline she says smiling wider I took her hand and brought us both to our feet I leaned down and kissed her deep and sweetly I told her to go put on some shoes she ran up to the room and I watched as she giggled .
God I can’t wait to catch her I thought as I felt myself grow harder from the thoughts of what I’m going to do to her
Y/n pov-
I cant believe this is happening and I never thought Matt would be into this kinda thing that’s why I never brought up my fantasy with him but fuck me I am already wet from the thoughts I practically flew back down the stairs to meet him in the living room
I’m gonna give you a 15 second start and your gonna run as fast as you can and just know that when I catch you I’m not gonna be sweet and calm Matt says
I hope you wouldn’t be after all im the prey and predators don’t play nicely you say Matt walks to open the door and looks at you with darkened eyes better start running slut he says he starts counting you take no time to start sprinting down the stairs into the dark woods you realized after you were getting deeper in the woods you have no light illuminating your way other than the moon which was partly covered by the dark clouds . Usually cloudy nights are your favorite but you started to get a little scared from how dark your surroundings were
You heard Matt calling your name in a very predatorial way causing chills to run up your body you start running faster getting smacked by branches left and right of you definitely leaving scratches on your exposed legs but you didn’t care you were just running you started to get out of breathe so you hid behind a tree waiting to hear any sign of Matt getting closer
The silence deafening as you started to get even more turned on knowing he would catch you sooner or later
You heard Matt calling out y/nnnn he called in a haunting way causing you to shiver from fear and arousal he was definitely closer than before you put your hand up to your mouth to try and silence your breathing you started hearing twigs snap to your left causing you to spring up and run in the opposite direction you tripped over a fallen tree and screamed out from your hard landing onto the rough ground you groaned from the pain and in seconds Matt was right above you breathing so hard you could see his breathe in the cold air
He laughing so sadistically causing your breathe to hitch and you to shiver
Caught you… Matt says so deep and dark you let out a moan from the possessive tone in his voice
…. Pt.2 coming right after this since this part is getting long asf
Be ready bitches shits boutta get nastyyyyy😈🫡

Farewell Dining
Had lunch today with our friends Beth and Bob at Indian Twist. It was our last time together before leaving for Oregon. They were among the folks who ventured to Texas for the recent eclipse, and they enjoyed a gathering of several of their friends.
It wasn't the first meal we've had to say goodbye to friends, and it won't be the last one. Thursday night we had dinner after a recovery meeting with friends Terry and Bill at Ole Mexican Grill. Bill is also leaving Tucson soon, returning to his family home in Pennsylvania to take up residence in the home formerly occupied by his late mother. We had seen Terry and his wife, Donna, at our Easter dinner gathering, but it was nice to have one more chance to bid him adieu.
This coming Wednesday a bunch of my recovery friends will be assembling for dinner to wish me a fond farewell. It had originally been conceived as a surprise party, but Nancy convinced the planners that surprises were not my favorite thing, especially where such a large crowd will be in attendance.
And next Friday night, before we take in a performance of "Much Ado About Nothing" by the Arizona Repertory Theatre (the university drama department), we will join Phyllis and Les, our Boston spring visitor friends, at Maria Bonita. It's the same local Mexican food place where we had my sister's party when they were in town. Our early meal will allow us to miss the Friday night mariachis, and it will also give Les time to catch the shuttle to the Phoenix airport for a quick visit back to Boston before he returns to Tucson in time to begin a long drive home with another of their friends who will join them for the journey.
There will also be soon dining after church tomorrow, where Nancy and I will show up for a quick blessing and send-off from the parish family. But we won't stick around long. There's still plenty of packing to get done and the time is getting shorter.

Renting a car at Portland International Airport (PDX) provides convenient transportation for Oregon travelers. While PDX rental branch locations are plentiful, pricing can vary greatly by company and vehicle type. Savvy renters can uncover big savings with insider knowledge of the Portland airport rental market. This detailed guide unlocks tips, tricks and hacks for scoring the cheapest PDX airport rental car. Learn how to compare rates across providers, find coupons and deals, avoid extra fees, and get the best rental experience in Portland. Overview of PDX Rental Car Locations Most major nationwide rental brands operate branches within Portland International Airport's terminal: Alamo - Counter located in the airport garage Level 1 ticketing lobby. Avis - Pickup desk on airport garage Level 4, take elevator from baggage claim. Budget - Counter situated upstairs Level 4 in short-term parking garage. Dollar - Booth upstairs Level 4 of hourly parking garage, take elevators or stairs. Enterprise - Agency located on the airport garage Level 1 ticketing level. Hertz - Primary counter downstairs on the airport garage Level 1 ticketing floor. National - Located upstairs on Level 4 of the short-term parking garage. Kiosks are also available in the baggage claim area to start the pickup process for some providers before heading to their desk. Offsite rental locations requiring a shuttle ride also serve Portland Airport. Cost to Rent a Car at PDX Airport Daily rental car rates at PDX vary by vehicle type, demand seasons, booking timing, and added services. Here are typical sample PDX rates: Car ClassAverage Cost Per DayEconomy$45 - $75Compact$50 - $85Midsize$70 - $120Standard SUV$100 - $175Full Size$125 - $225 Renting for a full week lowers the per day rate, while add-ons like GPS or extra insurance increase costs. Always compare total quote pricing across rental companies. How to Get the Cheapest PDX Car Rental The key strategies for securing the lowest rental rates include: Advance booking - Reserve 21-56 days prior to pickup for best rates on travel weeks. Last minute deals can happen too. Prepay - Paying upfront yields discounts over pay later options. Just ensure prepaid fee is refundable if plans change. Price compare - Check rates across all on-airport and local Portland rental companies. Significant variances exist. Rental coupons - Search for Portland Airport rental coupon codes which offer percent savings off base rates. Join loyalty programs - Sign up for rental company member programs to receive discounted member pricing. Limit insurance - Decline extra insurance if your own auto policy or credit card covers rentals. Taking advantage of these savings opportunities yields the best PDX rental car values. Insider Tips for the Cheapest PDX Car Rentals In addition to general money saving strategies, utilize these Portland Airport specific hacks: Rent just off-airport to avoid airport fees and taxes adding 10-25% to costs. Book one-way rentals with downtown pickup and airport dropoff to dodge surcharges. Join rental corporate codes for discounted business, government and org rates. Reserve larger vehicles like vans and trucks which have lower demand and better deals in Portland. Consider Turo, GetAround or other car share apps for hourly rentals under 4 hours. PDX rental prices are lowest in Jan-Feb off-season and higher in peak summer. Doing homework on the Portland market unlocks extra savings opportunities. Added Fees to Watch For on PDX Rentals While base rates may seem reasonable, extra charges at the rental counter can balloon costs. Watch for fees like: Airport concession recovery fees - 11.1% added tax Vehicle licensing recovery fees - $2 per day passed on cost Energy recovery fees - $1 per day for fuel costs Additional driver fees - $10-$15 per day f
or other drivers. Young renter surcharges - Under 25 upcharges Late return or early return - Outside grace period adds extra day Understand the full rate details to avoid surprises tacking on fees upon pickup. Age Requirements for PDX Car Rentals Most rental companies at Portland Airport require drivers to be at least 21 years old, with those under 25 incurring daily surcharges around $25. Some policies include: Alamo/National - Minimum age 21, fee for under 25 Avis - Minimum age 25 to avoid young renter fee Budget - Age 21 but charge added under 25 fee Dollar - Age 20 with hefty young driver surcharge Hertz - Minimum rental age 20 with additional fee So while legally able to rent at 18 or 19 in Oregon, underage additional charges make it far more expensive. Driver’s License Requirements for PDX Car Rentals Along with the minimum age requirements, renting a car at Portland Airport requires: Presenting a valid driver’s license License must have been held for at least 1 year License must be in renter's name matching reservation International travelers require valid foreign license and passport Some rental locations also accept other officially-issued IDs like passports. Double check qualifications before booking to avoid issues at pickup. Debit Cards for PDX Car Rentals Most PDX rental locations accept valid debit cards to reserve and pickup vehicles with some caveats: Debit card must have either the Visa or Mastercard logo Card holder's name must match the reservation Some insurers restrict debit cards for renters under 25 Available credit limit must cover rental deposit amount Proof of return travel like airline ticket may be required Calling rental branches directly in advance regarding debit card policies prevents problems. Bring a backup credit card just in case. Insurance Requirements for PDX Car Rentals Oregon law requires minimum liability limits of 25/50/20 for rented vehicles. However, most rental companies include basic liability coverage in their base rates. Consider extra products: Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) - Covers damage to rental car. Optional if you have adequate personal auto insurance and credit card coverage. Supplemental liability - Extra liability beyond state minimums for around $10 per day. Personal accident - Provides medical coverage for driver and passengers similar to PIP. Accepting extra coverage may make sense depending on your existing insurance policies. But it quickly escalates rental costs. One Way Airport Rentals at PDX Renting one-way with pickup downtown and dropoff at PDX airport (or vice versa) adds convenient flexibility. However, significant one-way fees typically apply: Alamo charges $250 one way between PDX and downtown Portland Avis tacks on $200 for a Portland airport one way Budget adds $200 plus $20 per day for a PDX one way Hertz slaps on $250-$300 depending on final dropoff location Sometimes regular rates can be cheaper than one-way base rates plus the additional airport fees. Check both options. Weather Considerations for PDX Car Rentals Portland's rainy climate demands extra caution driving rental cars: Add supplemental liability insurance for peace of mind if unfamiliar driving in wet conditions. Inspect tires carefully and request an alternate vehicle if treads seem inadequate for slick roads. Adjust driving habits by reducing speed, increasing following distance, and avoiding sudden braking or acceleration. Turn off wipers and lights upon returning rental to prevent battery drain or fire risk. Taking a few extra precautions ensures your PDX rental experience goes smoothly despite Portland's infamous rainfall. Alternative Portland Transportation Options Besides renting a car, Portland offers affordable transportation alternatives: MAX Light Rail – Links PDX to downtown and suburbs. $2.50 per ride. Trimet Buses – Extensive metro Portland bus system. $2.50-$5 per trip. Uber/Ly
ft – Rideshares to or from airport average $35 each way. Taxis – $40 flat rates from PDX to downtown Portland plus tips. Biketown Bikeshare – Bike rental stations around the city. $0.15 per minute. Crunching numbers on total trip costs helps choose the best local transportation deal. Best Rental Cars for Portland Sightseeing When renting a car to tour Portland attractions, these vehicle types make sense: Compact Cars – Easy parking at sites like the numerous food truck pods around the city. Decent fuel economy for cruising around. Convertibles – For enjoying sunny days with the top down on the scenic Historic Columbia River Highway. SUVs – Provide more seating and cargo room when traveling with family. Help access hiking trailheads. Sports Cars – Fun splurge for driving along twisty riverside roads outside the city. Choose a rental to match your Portland itinerary plans and group size needs. Early Bird vs Last Minute Portland Airport Rental Deals Early Bird Benefits Guaranteed availability of car class needed Lock in lowest base rental rates More prepaid discount opportunities Advance chance to find coupon codes Less stress about arrangements Last Minute Benefits Possible grab leftover inventory not booked Take advantage of rate drops due to low demand weeks No change fees if trip gets cancelled or altered Can base decision on accurate weather forecasts Booking early brings peace of mind while waiting for last minute deals poses risks. Weigh options carefully when timing Portland Airport rental reservations. Portland Airport Rental Car Return Tips Follow these handy tips when returning your PDX rental vehicle: Have your rental agreement handy to reference upon arrival. Return with a full tank of gas to avoid refueling charges. Arrive early and give yourself ample time to walk to the rental counter - PDX is a huge airport! Note exact mileage and tank level on printed return receipt. Double check no personal items are left behind in car. Inspect vehicle with agent for any new damages needing documentation. Only exit the vehicle when instructed to avoid additional rental days being charged. Properly closing out your PDX rental and catching departing flights gets easier following this guidance. How to Save Money on Portland Airport Parking Parking on-site at PDX can be pricey. Ways to reduce parking costs: Use PDX economy lots and garages instead of terminal and short-term parking. Compare daily vs weekly airport parking rates based on the full trip length. Use off-airport private lots with free airport shuttles for extended trips. Have someone drop you off/pick you up at departures instead of leaving a vehicle parked. Ask your hotel about package deals to add discounted airport parking to room bookings. Avoiding the high daily terminal garage rates saves a bundle on parking expenses. FAQs What is the cheapest car rental company at PDX Airport? Off-airport rental providers like Advantage Rent a Car often have the lowest total rates once airport fees are factored in. Does PDX Airport assess extra rental car fees? Yes, rentals picked up at PDX pay an 11.1% airport concession recovery fee plus a $2 per day vehicle license fee. How old do I need to be to rent at Portland Airport? Most agencies require renters to be at least 21 years old. Those under 25 will pay added daily surcharges. Can I take a PDX rental car into Washington State? Yes, just notify the rental counter at pickup that you plan to cross the border so proper registration documents are provided. Are there any car rental options at the PDX MAX train station? Unfortunately there are not rental facilities directly at the MAX Red Line PDX airport stop. You need to take the train into the terminal. #Wiack #Car #CarInsurance #CarRental #CarPrice #AutoLoans

#Wiack #Car #CarInsurance #CarRental #CarPrice #AutoLoans

where was rita during the initial chaos caused by the outbreak 💀👹
Rita was sitting in the passenger’s seat of a crappy rental car she and Paxton had gotten once they got out of the airport for their two week vacation to visit as many hiking trails as possible in Oregon before they had to go back to their jobs in Texas. She was trying not to complain as she tended to a new blister she had gotten during their most recent hike while also trying not to laugh at Paxton, who was struggling to put their tent up for the night at the campground they’d parked in.
She was putting her boot back on when local park rangers came by and told them there was something going on that they hadn’t gotten all the details of yet and to come with them. Pax and Rita barely had time to grab their still packed backpacks out of their car before they were shuttled to the park entrance with the promise that they’d be allowed back to their vehicle once things calmed down, which of course never happened. (A few days later Pax would feel bad about unpacking their tent from his bag while Rita would rationalize that they would have had to leave it somewhere along the way anyway when they ran from groups of swarmers while trying to find shelter after the NERO site they wound up in got overrun.)

Before Amazon.com opened its online store, before Netscape’s eye-opening IPO, the first wiki went live and in doing so affirmed that the Internet could be a space for creative collaboration and collective knowledge-sharing. The development of the “wiki”—that is, server-based software allowing users to create, revise, update, expand, and delete Web content using only a browser and a text-entry form—was an early signal that the Web could be more than an environment where, in the words of Berners-Lee, “a few published and most browsed.”
The wiki’s best-known and most elaborate application is Wikipedia, the popular online encyclopedia read, written, and edited by thousands of people. The wiki’s first use was more mundane: it was to enable computer programmers to write about and refine their techniques. The wiki’s inventor was Ward Cunningham, a genial technologist and software programmer in Oregon who has called the wiki “a new way to write.” On March 25, 1995, Cunningham placed his technology on the Web. At first, though, it lacked a name.
“I started using it and I could tell that it was important,” Cunningham recalled. “I had enough of a feel that I knew it was going to work. . . . I knew it needed a name, it needed a good name.” He said he thought of calling it “Quick Web,” because the software allowed for rapid revisions. Cunningham chose “WikiWikiWeb” instead. He knew from his honeymoon in Hawaii that “wiki” meant “quick” in Hawaiian and that sometimes Hawaiian words were doubled for emphasis. The shuttles running between terminals at the Honolulu International Airport were called “Wiki Wiki” buses. Cunningham figured that “WikiWikiWeb,” though a bit odd, was more fun to say than “Quick Web.” The alliteration of “WikiWikiWeb” was appealing, too, Cunningham said, and it evoked “World Wide Web,” as well. In time, “WikiWikiWeb” was shortened to “wiki.”
Cunningham said he never tried to patent the wiki; he certainly made no fortune from his invention. He showed the then-new technology to a handful of friends and colleagues, one of whom told Cunningham: “I hope you patented this thing. It is amazing.” While he saw the importance of the invention, Cunningham said he “also knew that I wasn’t going to get any money from a patent unless I went out and sold it. I thought, ‘Well, what’s the chance of [my] selling this?’ About zero.” He also said: “I mean, if I wanted to sell rights to use my patent, if I got a patent, I’d have to go to an executive and tell him that I had invented a technology that would allow anybody in the world to write all over [his company’s] Web site. And I thought, ‘Nobody’s going to pay to have somebody abuse their Web site.’ So the only thing I could do is develop a community and accomplish something. So I devoted myself to putting it to work for my community” of computer-programmers, he said.

This Ohio discourse has got me dying to create discourse about every other state now hehe so I officially present:
Hawk’s review of 36/50 US states!
In alphabetical order because that fuckin song “50 nifty United States” has been stuck in my head since fourth grade.
Arizona: Phoenix is hot. Can’t believe y’all choose to live in a place that gets haboobs. Saw Sen. John McCain in the airport. I feel that sums up the state well. 4/10
California: as a resident of the state of Oregon, I’m legally required to say fuck California😌 unless anyone else talking shit about Cali and then we got your back😤 SoCal vs San Fran vs Northern Cal are totally different worlds though. 7/10
Colorado: damn idk how y’all breathe there, them air is thin. But really pretty out there! 7/10
Connecticut: oh my god fuck New Haven. And Stamford, and Hartford, and— Yknow what? Let’s just toss the whole state into the Sound. For real, traffic is the WORST here and I’m so sorry that y’all gotta live like that. 3/10
Delaware: I cannot believe this is considered a state. There’s no difference between Delaware and Maryland/Pennsylvania. 1/10 should not be a state
Florida: “the only hills in Florida are the highway ramps and the Matterhorn!” —the shuttle driver at Disney World. He was right. Shit is flat as fuck here. And hot. And humid. The Gulf Coast is nice? But tbh it’s just all very touristy which is kind of a bummer. 5/10
Georgia: ...I can’t with the humidity or thinly veiled racism. But y’all got nice peaches! Also Black Panther filmed there so thank you for blessing us with that. 6/10 for fruits
Hawaii: okay pineapple farms are cool. Tbh I just feel really bad for how much mainlander/tourist bs all the islanders put up with. Ik price of living is v high and keeps going up. That said I did love Hawaii... although I was stung by a jellyfish. Hate those little bastards. 8/10 for wonderful people and nature
Idaho: as an Oregonian I’m required to also say fuck Idaho 😝 you da hoes. Okay for real tho southern Idaho has become v white white and kinda scary tbh. The northern part of the state is pretty chill tho. Also Oreida kettle chips are partly made in Idaho so I gotta give you half credit for that. 4/10
Illinois: at least you’re not Indiana. 4/10.
Indiana: I never want to step foot in Gary, Indiana again in my life. (Passed a Mack truck hauling a race car to Indy 500 though so that was cool.) 2/10
Iowa: I almost moved here. I’m so glad I didn’t. Why are the Quad Cities actually a group of five towns? I hate that. Also the roads were all cement, felt like driving on a sidewalk. Was also interesting because the second we got out of the city proper, it was just... corn fields everywhere. 2/10 y’all raising children of the corn.
Kentucky: I really don’t have anything to say about Kentucky. I thought the trees were pretty? 5/10 yeah idk
Maine: my relative has totaled two cars by hitting moose in Maine. Maine scares me. Or rather, the moose do. Also the lobster roll hype is real. And the coast truly is beautiful. 8/10 but an extra point for the moose bc I hate that relative so 9/10
Maryland: oh god Baltimore. Also I’m blaming you for the DC traffic because it’s on the land you gifted them. 3/10
Massachusetts: Patriots fans are the worst NFL fans (the racism is real, especially after fans burned the jerseys of Black players who knelt for the anthem). Liking Dunkin’ Donuts is not a personality trait. The North End in Boston is truly the best place to get pizza in the entire country. Western Mass is not the same state. And the Cape Cod bridges give me nightmares. 5/10 but cause I had to pay taxes two years and it really is Taxachusetts, knocking it down to 4/10
Michigan: it’s a lot bigger than I initially thought. 5/10
Minnesota: it’s Canada but in the US. Pretty driving through the southern part. Cops suck tho. 5/10
Montana: okay Montana is downright gorgeous. (Except Billings. Sorry, Billings.) I must include a photo. I wanna get a cabin here and just exist. 8/10
Tumblr media
New Hampshire: can’t decide if it hates Massachusetts or wants to be Massachusetts. All it knows is that it’s better than Vermont. Which... y’know, valid. (If you wanna see NH culture watch North Woods Law tbh). 4/10
New Jersey: why are there so many goddamn highways in this state? Also there are more places to weekend trip than the Shore or the Poconos. Although you do have people pump gas for you just like Oregon, so... that’s valid. Things my friends have added: Newark airport is cursed (valid), the jughandles are nightmares (true), pork roll/Taylor Ham is good and so are bagels and New Jersey pizza (allergic so idk), and everyone is split on whether the shore is actually decent or not 😂 I give it a 3.5/10 out of spite
New York: NYC is fun, Upstate is MASSIVE but really beautiful. Long Island is... yeah I don’t have anything nice to say about Long Island. 8/10 For NYC, 6/10 for Upstate, -2/10 for Long Island, gives us an average of 6/10
North Carolina: very good peaches. Isn’t South Carolina. Keep it up👍🏽 6/10
Ohio: I already told y’all how I feel about this flat ass boring state. I feel no need to slander it any more lmao. 3/10
Oregon: she flies with her own wings, mi amor🥰 to list all the reasons I like Oregon (and the issues too bc it ain’t perfect), I would need a whole other post. I’ll just leave you with this picture I took of Mt. Hood, the queen of our Cascades. 11/10
Tumblr media
Pennsylvania: so apparently PN is three states hiding in a trench coat like NY. There’s upstate, philly and Pittsburg. Personally I think they’re just trying too hard and wanna get the same recognition as NY. Meh. 5/10
Rhode Island: THIS FUCKIN SHAM OF A STATE Just merge it with Connecticut and be done with it!! It’s tiny. Providence sucks. There’s nothing unique about this state that you can’t find in Southern Mass (except MA has cheaper taxes so y’all come to work and shop in MA anyways smh). Also the fingers are really annoying to drive down to get to some beach areas haha. 2/10 you’re barely better than Delaware.
South Carolina: my Black father was invited to a party celebrating General Robert E Lee’s birthday. So... 0/10
South Dakota: very gorgeous, didn’t realize the Missouri River went this far west, but VERY LARGE. I mean it looks big on a map but then you get there and... yeah. No speed limit on highways is a great time though. And the Badlands have mountain goats! 6/10 bc while pretty, living there seems really hard. (Picture is me in the Badlands).
Tumblr media
Texas: gave us Juneteenth and Beyoncé and JJ Watts. Thank you Texas. But is very big, got independence from Mexico to keep slavery (yikes), is like 97% private land (yikes) and is like the second or third largest state. Very big. That said, everyone I’ve ever met from Texas is lovely. 6/10.
Utah: Other than Idaho, this is the whitest state I’ve been to. Or it feels that way. Like a, the people crossed to the other side of the street and held their bags because I’m brown, state. And I don’t ski so I can’t even say that’s a good thing (I fell off the ski lift the one time I went, long story). Yeah 0/10.
Vermont: wants to be New Hampshire or Canada and can’t decide which. So it’s just kinda there. Pretty hills though. 3/10
Virginia: let’s be real we all forget that Virginia exists west of Richmond. Nova is a beauracratic and traffic nightmare and half our neighbors had to pass security clearance checks. Hampton Roads and beach area is a tourist and mosquito nightmare. But there were dolphins and I made snowmen on the beach. Good times. 6.7/10
Washington: again, legally required as an Oregon resident to say fuck Washington because it’s all your fault we now are getting a toll on the I-5 border. But you’re better than California. And the Sound is really cool for fishing, love Wicked Tuna. And the fish market. Best salmon I’ve had. Eastern Washington... y’all got Spokane but the rest is kinda sparse. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 8/10
Wisconsin: cheese is actually good. Again, pretty state, much larger than I initially thought. 7/10
Wyoming: this was the ONLY STATE I lost cell service in when diriving cross country. Kinda surprised it wasn’t Montana, but no, it was Wyoming. Views are gorgeous though so I was distracted either way. 4/10
Thank you for joining me on this cross-country edition of Tea Time with Hawk. Please respond with any reactions, corrections, addendums about any and all of the states mentioned. And thank you for taking part in this wholesome Clone Wars fandom discourse with me 🥰💕

Hello everyone, I just went to Oregon-Seattle so I want to share a little. Thank you to my team for knowing the places to hang out in these two states
📌 We bought a plane ticket from LAX through Oregon. Then I rented a car from Oregon to Seattle (about 3 hours). From Seattle, we flew back to LAX, and the fare was $215.
📌 From LAX we flew 2.5 hours to PDX in Portland and then we took an Uber to the Park Lane Suite & Inn. I have a reference that in downtown Portland especially china town in the evening is not safe so I book the hotel a little far away.
*Note: There is an Uber reservation at the airport, so you just go straight to the door and stand in the lane for Uber, Lift,... Because I did not know, I should follow the airport bus to the parking, so I stood all day waiting for that bus to take back to the airport to catch Uber 😭😭😭
📌Aug the next day we booked Uber to rent a car near the airport (Thrifty). We choose a small car to travel for convenience and buy insurance with the filling part (recommend this section because when I add on this part I do not need to fill the tank when returning the car). At the time of receiving the car was 462miles that we went 3 days when we paid for still hehe gasoline 😉 the rental price was $ 300.
Tumblr media
📌 The first place we went was to Munomah waterfall. This place is highly rated because just after parking the car, I saw the beautiful waterfall right in front of me without much walking hehehe. Parking is scarce and if you can't find it you'll have to walk further because there are many small waterfalls around that place.
Tumblr media
📌 The Queen is colder than Cali so I wore extra warm clothes and remembered to bring them in the rain room as well. Luckily, it didn't rain in Oregon 😄. Then I went shopping at Pioneer Square and Washington Square, everything is tax free in Oregon so everyone took the opportunity to shop.
Tumblr media
📌 I tried the ramen at Boxer Ramen near my house, the store is quite small but beautiful and cozy. Addicted to milk tea, I also tried to find a restaurant to drink it at. Younique was quite quiet, beautifully decorated and lovely, closed for the night in Oregon - a gentle city.
Tumblr media
📌 The next morning, we bought breakfast at Good Taste China town, the restaurant was a bit cold because we came early and bought all the food in the car because the restaurant didn't offer dining yet. Then we drove through Seattle (about 3 hours).
Tumblr media
📌I check in at the Bell Town Inn right in downtown Seattle because it's convenient to get somewhere nearby.
In Seattle, it was hard to find parking, so I bought a $30 hotel parking garage in the hotel's garage.
The reason is that when checking in ngta will ask me whether to park in public parking or garage price is the same but the garage is safer.
Then we went to Pike Public market, Gum wall, Starbucks Reserve, Space Needles, Amazon Spheres,...
Tumblr media
📌 That night the rain fell, so we chose to eat hot pot to heat the 🤣 in LiuYiShou Hot pot about 15' from downtown. We wanted to eat at swish swish, which our friend recommended that they closed early, so we had the opportunity to try hihi.
📌 The next day we went to Gene Coulon Memorial Park to see the gold leaf, which was really picturesque. Then we picked up the car and took a shuttle to Seattle airport back to LAX (2.5 hours) for the end of a trip.
Tumblr media
This time the Seattle executive hope to help you like to travel!

If you don't mind my asking, which states have you been to?
Ooh! Um. I’ve been meaning to figure this out exactly, so… let’s go down the list:
Alabama: yes! I’ve spent a total of a few weeks there, between visiting friends and a couple of work trips.
Alaska: nope!
Arizona: yes! Work trip to Phoenix for a week.
Arkansas: sorta! Possibly not overnight - this might have just been a drive-through on a road trip.
California: sorta! Airports only, alas. One layover at LAX, several at SFO.
Colorado: yes! Several weeks in total, between Denver (including getting stuck at the airport overnight), Boulder, and a conference in Breckenridge. Also got to do some long hikes at Rocky Mountain and Black Canyon of the Gunnisons National Parks.
Connecticut: nope!
Delaware: nope!
Florida: yes! Spent a few days there for the final space shuttle launch, with bonus Universal Studios.
Georgia: sorta! Another airports-only: flown through ATL many a time.
Hawaii: yes! My parents started saving early on so the whole family could go out to Kauai for their 25th anniversary (or rather, the Christmas a few months after). It was amazingly beautiful!
Idaho: yes! Boise stopover on a road trip.
Illinois: yes! One or two nights on road trips.
Indiana: yes! Stopovers on road trips, visited friends outside of Indy for a few days, and also two CR Live shows!
Iowa: yes! My brother lived there for a couple years, so there was at least a week there where we helped him move in.
Kansas: yes! Mostly stopovers on stormchasing trips. I remember standing outside at one motel during a giant lightning storm (NOT RECOMMENDED but very cool).
Kentucky: yes! A few days here and there, also on roadtrips.
Louisiana: yes! Week-long conference in New Orleans.
Maine: yes! Several days eating lots of lobster en route to the Maritimes.
Maryland: yes! I lived there for about two months and worked there for another month when I was living in Virginia.
Massachusetts: nope! But I’ll be going for a week in January.
Michigan: yes! Several overnights on road trips.
Minnesota: yes! More road trip stops, but also an overnight in Minneapolis due to airport mix-ups.
Mississippi: nope!
Missouri: yes! Hung out briefly in Kansas City on a slow day of a stormchasing trip.
Montana: yes! The most accessible state from where I lived in Canada (only a seven-hour drive! ack.), so we spent several weekends when I was a teen in places like Billings and Bozeman.
Nebraska: yes! I learned how to play poker in a hotel room in Lincoln on a slow stormchasing day.
Nevada: nope!
New Hampshire: yes! Overnight stop en route to the Maritimes. Is that where a random lady at a gas station gave me her 60s-style sunglasses? Very possibly.
New Jersey: sorta! I think we drove through en route elsewhere but didn’t stop.
New Mexico: nope! But I have a week-long conference there in October.
New York: yes! A few overnight stops in upstate New York—Albany is super pretty! Haven’t been to NYC apart from the airport, though.
North Carolina: yes! Road trip stopover again.
North Dakota: yes! A couple road trips ended up there for the night, in Minot and Fargo.
Ohio: yes! Overnights in the state on road trips.
Oklahoma: yes! Lived there for two years, plus extra stops for the stomchasing trip and a few work trips before I moved there. Tornadoes, man.
Oregon: yes! Weeklong conference in Portland.
Pennsylvania: yes! Lived there for five years, plus a weeklong conference in Pittsburg before I moved there.
Rhode Island: nope!
South Carolina: sorta! I might be forgetting a road trip stopover, but otherwise it’s just airports.
South Dakota: yes! Stayed in Deadwood overnight (very weird place), and also admired the Black Hills.
Tennessee: yes! Road trip stopovers (I remember a tornado warning one night at a hotel), plus a weeklong conference in Nashville.
Texas: yes! Family driving trip to Fort Worth and Austin when I lived in OK, also a weeklong conference in Austin.
Utah: yes! Lots of SLC airport layovers, but also some spectacular hikes in Arches and Canyonlands national parks.
Vermont: yes! One roadtrip stopover and a weeklong conference in Stowe because one of the conference organizers was obsessed with Heady Topper.
Virginia: yes! Lived on the VA side of the border just outside DC for about a month with my boss when my housing in the Baltimore suburbs kind of exploded a bit.
Washington: yes! A few months, plus assorted family trips.
West Virginia: yes! Staying overnight on a road trip.
Wisconsin: yes! Road trip stopovers, plus a weeklong conference in Madison.
Wyoming: yes! Overnight on the way to Colorado a couple times.
So that’s… 37/50 states I’ve at least stayed in overnight, 42/50 states I’ve at least set foot in, and 8/50 states I’ve yet to visit (two of which I’m going to visit in 2020). Of the remaining 6, Alaska is top of my list. And I need to see the parts of California that aren’t the airports. A lot of these come from a couple of road trips: my dad had a work trip in DC once and we just… drove there from western Canada and took a different route on the way back. I also had a stormchasing trip from Alberta down to Oklahoma, and we tended to dip into the US whenever we traveled across Canada (e.g., when I moved out to Quebec). Incredibly lucky to have had a job that’s bounced me all over the country without any money coming out of my own pocket.
My Canadian province record is a lot sadder. I really have been in the US too long…
Prettiest scenery, for me, is Utah followed closely by central Pennsylvania.
