10. What lie do they most frequently remember telling?  Does it haunt them?

you know this one already.  everybody knows this one already.  

its the nation thing.  obviously

in practice it’s a lie he mostly just tried to believe himself, because lies don’t really work when nobody you’re telling actually believes you, aside from the occasional case of “if i agree it’ll make you happy, and im fond of you, so, sure.” 

the problem wasn’t so much that he Really, Actually wanted to be a nation though.  i think knowing that the rationale for making sealand a principality was “it simplifies the law so we don’t have to write out a bunch of law books we can just be like, whatever the prince says is what goes” really proves that peter is Not and Was Never out to make his life more complicated or put more responsibility onto himself than he thinks he can handle. 

what he actually wanted was 1. to be something his royal family wanted him to be, and justify all the money and time and ideals and determination they put into him, and to become something good for them and not just Completely Let Them All Down 

which, as all the Big Ambitious Projects sealand has gotten into in the past seem to not really be a thing anymore, like that its not trying to Become Anything Different than what it actually is (radio station, data haven, etc), and he’s just trying to be a better home now, so this insecurity is still present but he’s much more relaxed about it. 

and 2. he wanted desperately to be able to relate to somebody.  and the only way he saw to do this was to try and be what all the other immortal beings are. 

from the day he was created until he was like, sixty, peter was completely existentially estranged from, and i cannot stress this enough, literally every single person he had ever met.  he’s completely different from nations, and he’s completely different from humans. 

when he started to meet other micronations though (Finally, in like, Two-Thousand-And-Fucking-Four), it was like, holy shit, there are other people who exist the same way i do.  and it was… a lot, emotionally, to have this formerly inescapable loneliness just start to drop away so suddenly.  and now there’s really nothing else he’d rather be than a micronation, honestly, and the idea of becoming different than his friends sounds kind of horrible to him.  so he’s mostly grown out of wanting to be a real country, actually 

so no, it doesnt really haunt him at all.  it’s just that whenever someone reminds him of how he used to act he gets WILDLY embarrassed. 

21. Why do they get up in the morning? 

wow i wrote you a whole ass book im sorry omg.  anyway the suggestion that he gets up In The Morning is hilarious.  his bedroom doesnt have windows he never knows what time it is until he actually checks his phone and it’s actually kind of disorienting but he’s used to it.  but his sleep patterns are fucking wack 

38. What memory do they revisit the most often?

PIRATE RADIO FOR SURE.  so like, 1966.  and i really can’t phrase the joy he feels about this time of his life better than this 

C) Did you have trouble figuring out where they fit in their own story?

actually, not really, no!  i don’t remember ever having any difficulty fitting peter into the stories of things that happened to sealand itself.  compared to other characters i’ve written, i think for him it was actually the easiest, and it created a sort of logical underpinning and consistency to the way i write his personality. 

G) What trait of theirs bothers you the most?

i was struggling with this so i asked mk which trait of peter’s bothers me the most bc she knows both me AND him better than i do and she was like “you ask him how he’s feeling and he’s like, why?? who tf wants to know???”  

also he drinks juice straight from the bottle and puts it back into the fridge with like a thimble’s worth of beverage remaining so he’s a monster actually.
