Pillow Talk
Pairing: Damien x MC (Camille Jensen Park) Oops, I didn’t know her last name before!
Book: Perfect Match
Word Count: ~1,200
Rating:  PG-13 (Fluffy fluff with a hint of sexy times)
Author’s Note:  Oh the beginning of a new relationship ... the bliss, the giddiness, the hot time between the sheets.  This little story is meant to capture those feelings for Damien and Camille.
I started this piece a while ago after the “Casual Night In” fic and hadn’t had the time or the inspiration to finish it.  Then last weekend I requested some fluffy fic prompts and I received three from @bobasheebaby and @lazychic28 that helped me make this piece into something I was proud of.  This includes the prompts #3 “I just feel safe with you. Like nothing bad can happen”; #21 “I made you some breakfast”; and #25 “You look really cute in that.”  Thanks for the asks guys! 😘😘

Camille's eyelids fluttered open, blinking slowly as her eyes adjusted to the sunlight peeking in her window.  She moved to stretch her arms out but was met with resistance from a large figure in her bed.  She turned slightly to peer over her shoulder, finding Damien still sleeping behind her.   She couldn’t help but grin at the sight of him laid out on his back with his mouth ajar and a soft snore escaping his lips.  He looked so peaceful and vulnerable, so different than his usual strong and sarcastic waking persona.  This was a sight she wouldn’t mind waking up to on many mornings in the future.
She shimmied out from under the covers and quickly threw her panties and an oversized t-shirt over her body before sneaking quietly to her bathroom, careful not to wake him.  She splashed some water over her face and started brushing her teeth, examining her reflection in the mirror as she freshened up. Despite the bedhead and slightly smudged mascara under her eyes, she looked remarkably ... happy.  There was a rosiness in her cheeks and a twinkle in her eye that masked the normal tell-tale signs of a long sleepless night.  Of course, last night was the best kind of sleepless night ...
Camille finished her quick attempt at freshening up and proceeded to exit the bathroom, mindful not to wake the sleeping man a few feet away as she tip-toed out of her room.  She ventured into her tiny kitchen, turned on the coffee pot and fished out two mugs from the cabinet.  She leaned forward on the counter and watched as the steaming liquid slowly dripped and accumulated in the carafe in front of her.  Her mind began to wander back to the previous evening, bringing a smile to her lips.
After four years of fighting their feelings and bad timing, she and Damien were finally giving this a real shot.  The tension had been bubbling under the surface for a year now until one night things just clicked and this new adventure was set in motion.  She had fought it at first, avoiding his insinuated affection, until the night when she’d witnessed another woman flirting with him and she knew that the jealousy she was feeling was not normal for “just friends.”  After she let go of her fears that night they had been slowly feeling out the new territory together, somewhat awkwardly as they tried to mold four years of friendship into something more.
And then last night ... last night had not been awkward.  Sure, Camille had been nervous and giggled at first, but once Damien made her laugh she realized she had honestly never felt more comfortable with anyone.  He was as assertive and playful in bed as he was outside of it, and lucky for her his thorough investigative skills had lead to many hours of fun “research.”  She closed her eyes and hummed softly as she remembered his hands, his mouth ... and his other parts exploring her body only hours before.  Her body tingled at the memory.  Nope, not awkward indeed.
She poured herself a cup of coffee and started playing on her phone, resting an elbow on the counter as she scrolled through Instagram.  She quickly became mesmerized by the endless posts and pictures, not noticing her guest approach until she heard a soft chuckle behind her.  “Now this is a sight I can get used to.”  Damien’s voice was lower and gruffer than normal, still thick with sleep.  “You look really cute in that.”
Cami jumped a little at the unexpected greeting, quickly turning around to face him with coffee mug in tow.  He stood there in the doorway leaning against the wall in his boxer briefs and white undershirt, eyes scanning her body up and down with a smirk on his lips.  She grinned in response, leaning her backside into the kitchen counter as she relished his gaze on her.  “It’s just a t-shirt, D.”
He sauntered over to her, looking in her eyes and he placed one hand on each side of her on the counter.  “I know.  JUST a t-shirt.”  He leaned in closer to her, nuzzling his nose into her hair and placing a gentle kiss to her forward.  “If I weren’t so damn tired I’d be dragging you back into that bedroom right now.”
“Hmm ... good thing I made you some breakfast then.”  She pressed a kiss to his neck before pushing him back so she could reach the coffee pot.  She poured him a steaming mug and handed it to him.  “Here you go, breakfast of champions.”
He inhaled the deep aroma and took a long sip, then looked back up at her mischeviously.  “While I appreciate the sentiment, this is a sorry excuse for breakfast.”  He took another drink from his mug.  “How about we get cleaned up and I take you out for a real breakfast?”
She raised an eyebrow at his invitation.  “You know, staying the night and then taking a girl out to breakfast ... that’s like the shortcut to relationship central.”
He set his mug down and pulled her towards him, tugging her by her t-shirt and placing his hands on her hips.  “And what if I’m okay with that?”  He looked thoughtfully at her, all the playfulness replaced by the pensive asking in his eyes.  “Would you be okay with that?”
Camille’s breath caught in her throat.  God this just feels so right.  She smiled as she looked down at her hands, running them over his chest through his shirt.  “Yes.  Yes, I think I would.”  She beamed back up at his face, as he waited expectantly for her reply.  “I know now this is the way it’s supposed to be.  I just feel safe with you. Like nothing bad can happen.  And I can’t think of the last time I felt this happy.”
Her confession brought a gentle grin to Damien’s lips.  “Good.  Because I haven’t been this happy in I don’t know how long either.”  He placed his index finger under her chin and tilted her mouth to meet his in a soft kiss.  She wrapped her arms around his neck as the kiss deepened, but quickly pulled back and giggled.  He frowned at her, confused at the humor of their current situation.  “What?” he asked, brow furrowed.
She had a somewhat guilty look on her face as she grinned up at him.  “D, you know I love kissing you ... but I think we need to get you your own toothbrush to keep over here.”
He stepped back, cupping his hand over his mouth to smell his breath.  Yeah, pretty rank ... “Okay, deal.  But you do know having a toothbrush over here is ten steps beyond breakfast on the relationship scale?” he asked lightheartedly.
She placed a small kiss to his cheek before whispering in his ear.  “Fine by me.”  She winked as she grabbed his hand and lead him to the bathroom to stake his official claim in her apartment.
