S E N T ; ❝ ❄ — our muses watch the snow fall together. ❞
Kitten heels click against the reflective marble floor of Bright Moon’s castle. Sounds bounced from the glossy surface underfoot and seemed to echo off the walls, a ricocheting murmur that swept the silent castle. Everyone slept peacefully in their rooms, except for a single, restless, fleeting shadow. Gold and cyan eyes cut through the deepest darkness. Stepping out into the pale moonlight, the lonely one observed the midnight landscape through an enormous hallway window.
Feeling unfamiliar in this place was a common occurrence. Beyond the safety of the castle was where she used to roam, terrorizing Etheria in the name of the Horde. Regardless of time passed, she could still feel the painful remnants of war. Deep down, Catra understood that the Princesses would be wary of her for years to come, yet it still brought an unwanted sting of sadness. With the earned privilege of freedom came recompense for all her wrongs.
If she was to finally have her happy ending, so be it. She could live content with the fact that others viewed her differently. Perhaps it was more work in the end becoming so vulnerable and dependent—— but Catra was ready for the challenge.
A small movement caught the corner of her cat-like eyes. Large puffy snowflakes had begun to fall like powder from the thick, heavy clouds looming above. Covering Bright Moon like a giant quilt, the clouds moved over, bringing with them a slow but steady supply of freshly fallen snow. Accompanying the first frost, the snow clung to the verdant earth and began to stick, forming a small layer of soft sparkling snow.
Barely audible, even to her own ears, Catra released a small, excited breath. She had only seen snow once in her previous travels with the Horde. Blustering, biting flurries were all she could remember from that awful place. This time though. . .
It carried with it a whimsical and enchanting emotion that made her heart flutter.
