"He's going to disappear again..."

For my first drawing of the new year, here's Riley and Griff from Dawntide, which is fast becoming one of my favourite furry visual novels. And in addition to its exquisite sense of atmosphere and intriguing characters, a huge part of that is the absolutely beautiful artwork. As such, I challenged myself to experiment with style by aiming for something closer to the visual novel's actual look.

I read the new Griff update and couldn't help noticing how shocked he was when Riley got teased about meeting with a boyfriend. AND HE'S CLEARLY MIFFED AND JEALOUS WHEN RILEY DECIDES NOT TO FULLY PARTICIPATE IN THE DRINKING GAME 'CAUSE HE WANTS TO BE MOSTLY SOBER FOR GRIFF. AND HE HAS TO WALK HOME ALONE!!! AAAAAAA

▌real name: Cassandra Carlton (Cage) ▌single or taken: single (canonical)/happily taken (verse dependent with @kathexismania​) ▌abilities or powers: martial arts, weaponry ( firearms, improvised weaponry ), the glow ▌eye colour: cerulean blue ▌hair colour: buttery blonde ▌family members: Sonya Blade, Jonathan Carlton (Johnny Cage) ▌pets: none ▌something they don’t like: fake personalities, underestimation especially of her title. she understands she’s been given the title rather young but she also knows she’s worked her ass off to get it and came a long way for it. unsolicited attention. ▌hobbies/activities: training, surfing the web/social media, occasional photography ▌ever hurt anyone before: Yes ▌ever killed anyone before: Yes ▌animal that represents them: as her symbol upon her uniform reminds us of a bird, the Swan may be a good example of an animal that represents Cassie. Especially the rhubarb and strawberry pie from Gramma Carlton. ▌favourite drink: frappuccinos, iced coffee, spiced rhum and coke, martini ▌favourite place to spend time at: training grounds at the special forces base; her windowsill on a rainy day; the Hoak, a bistro-bar where she meets with her friends once in a while; Fire Gardens (verse dependent) ▌swim in the lake or in the ocean: the ocean. nothing like the warm, blue salt seas to swim into. ▌their type: genuine, supportive people, strong willed and warm hearted. cassie needs to know that you’ll always be there for her, that you’ll take her for who she is, because while she does not show it outwardly, she does harbor insecurities that need quelling sometimes.  ▌camping or indoors: camping. being indoors is fine on rainy days but when the sun’s shining, let her roam and have some fun in nature.

Riley, yeah he's a mood. I am hoping he'll be able to grow as a person over the course of the story. His history with Griff is definitely something I want to know more about. I feel like Riley's desire for the feelings of the past will affect his ability to properly reconnect with him. Maybe he'll realize his relationship with Griff doesn't need to be romantic for it to be lasting? Griff seems to be happy and willing to spend time with Riley, but they did break up for a reason (which we do not know yet)

Sal is very gender. (I wanna be heerrrrrrrr) When she tells Riley he's doing good? (like ugh I frickin love herrr) (she is so yass like 😳 i am so bi omg)

(not me falling for a jock lol) I love Billy's confidence and playful quips. The start of his route in chapter 1 has got me excited for when he'll get an update. (all you had to tell me is that he's passionate about biking like I am all for it)
