The duality of Charlotte Perkins Gilman as feminist and eugenicist, able to push for genuine advanced ideas in some areas while holding steady to some obviously dangerous ones in others really comes through in all of her fiction, but this adaptation of The Yellow Wallpaper is remarkably adept at presenting a version of the narrator who feels palpably tied to Gilman's own complex beliefs.
