Whenever possible, I like to use ingredients from my own garden to make my sacred oils. This limits some products to a single batch per year. The 2023 vintage of our Red Goddess Oil and Prosperity Oil have been started. They won’t be ready for several months. To celebrate, I’m offering 20% off all sacred oils in my Scarlet Ibis Apothecary Ko-fi store until the end of August. Use coupon code 20OFF2022.

Thank you to everyone who has helped me reach 100 subscribers. Yeah, still small for a Youtube channel, but as I’ve said before it’s still early days and it’s not exactly subject matter with a broad appeal. If you haven’t already, please subscribe now to help out the channel. It still means a lot to me. For reference, 100 subscribers is 1/10th of what I need to monetize the channel through Youtube. Something I’m not even sure I want to do. I find Youtube commercials so annoying that I pay to not see them, and I don’t know if I want to subject my fans to that. One way to make sure it never happens is to subscribe to our Ko-fi. If I can make enough money there to support the endeavor, I won’t need to monetize. Don’t forget our Redbubble merch store as well. A few of you might know about Scarlet Ibis Apothecary. It’s still going, though I’ve decided to stop producing candles as I wasn’t getting the quality I know my customers deserve. We still have our incense and sacred oils that I am sure you will love. Thanks again for all the support.

Of everything Scarlet Ibis Apothecary makes, this is the one we are most proud of. Our Red Goddess oil is pure sweet almond oil, steeped for 156 days with roses from our own sacred rose garden, sandalwood, and cinnamon. After filtering, we add a few drops of true Bulgarian attar of roses to enhance the rose scent. A true devotional work. Due to limited quantities of the roses needed to produce this product, only seven will be made this year. Get them while you can.

A scent reminiscent of ancient temples where East meets West. The Magi includes cinnamon, frankincense & myrrh, and sandalwood, steeped in pure almond oil for 93 days.
All of our sacred oils are made through the process of maceration in oil. Designed for anointing yourself and objects you wish to bless. As with all such products, test for allergic reaction on a small patch of skin that can easily be washed, like your hand. This product contains cinnamon and will produce a slight warming sensation. Test objects for staining. This is an oil, so any object that will be stained by oil, like cloth, may develop a persistent stain. We have used these types of products as a massage oil, car air freshener, or burnt on coals as incense. Do not use in aerosol diffusers. Do not consume orally.

I find myself back on tumblr more. Not posting a lot, but I’m here. I’ve been on tumblr for almost a decade now, and despite all the shitty changes that have happened in that time, I still find it to be a refuge. Let’s admit, it’s just not like other social media. It isn’t designed to start arguments for attention (they happen, but the platform doesn’t promote it). It’s not as full of inane and vacuous content like Instagram and TikTok. Don’t even get me started on Twitter.
I love my tumblr people, I really do. Even though I don’t interact with them much, I appreciate them. The art, the musings, the porn (yeah, it’s still there if you know how to look.) There’s politics to be sure, and an occult community that likes to ask the wrong questions, but mostly, it’s beautiful. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Maybe its lack of popularity makes that possible.
That’s why I’m sharing this here first. I’ve told some people, I’ve made hints, but I don’t think I’ve made an official announcement. The Scroll of Thoth Podcast, which some of you know, is dead. You probably already figured that out by yourselves. Though, it has risen from the ashes so many times you might be holding your breath. Fear not. There is more to come.
Scroll of Thoth will now be a youtube channel. I’ve been spending some time gathering the equipment I need and learning how to do it. Yes, you’ll have to suffer my ugly mug. There’s good reasons and bad reasons for the change. Mostly good. I should be old enough to know better than making promises that I don’t deliver on. But, at this point I think it’s a done deal this show will happen. Let me tell you about the changes and why.
Some of it has to do with my own habits. Despite all its numerous flaws, I find myself spending more time on youtube myself. When I have a quick break. When I’m eating breakfast. I want a 15-20 minute video to pass the time. I need something for my eyes to do, even if it’s just watching a talking head. I’m a big history nerd, and there’s a lot of great history content on youtube. Of course, the occult community is there as well, but not in numbers. At least not that I can find. Some are really good, like Esoterica, Angela’s Symposium, Nordic Animism, and Aliaki. I grok what they are doing. But I want to do something that’s in-between scholarly and practical. I haven’t seen much of that anywhere.
Speaking of finding good occult media, one of the reasons for the switch is that I simply don’t think there is a site with a good algorithm for podcasts. Even if I find them, it seems every podcast is an investment. Either it’s three hours long, or it’s a series of over a hundred episodes. Sorry, old Frater T ain’t got time for that, and I suspect many of you don’t as well. I kinda hate the fact that I need a good algorithm to point people towards my show, but that’s reality.
The rest of the changes are for artistic purposes. First and foremost, no more co-hosts. Do not get me wrong, I love my co-hosts (I know you’re here Re). But I want to share what I know. I want to share my perspective and my magick, which I think is unique. I don’t want to bore my co-hosts. Sorry once again, I don’t want them to take the conversation in different directions. I want to talk about a subject at length, and you can tell I’m a wordy son-of-a-bitch, so I have a lot to say. I may do an occasional interview. I really do want to do one more episode of the Scroll of Thoth Podcast to give them a chance to shine. That will probably happen.
In many ways, I feel like I’ve made the Scroll of Thoth Podcast a prison when I made it “The Podcast of Emergent Magick.” Once again, I love Emergent Magick (EMK). I wrote the damn book. I still believe in it. All of my practice comes from an EMK perspective. I will even be doing a whole series on the new channel going through the Emergent Magick book chapter by chapter. But I want to do more than that. I want to talk about what trips my trigger. Like goetia, and animism, the paranormal, and Ancient Egypt. It will all be in there.
I have also found that I dig the art of video editing. It’s an amazing art form. I don’t think I’m any good at it. But that’s self-evident, I haven’t been doing it that long. I have done some, and I gotta tell ya, DaVinci Resolve is a powerful and free piece of software that’s a whole lot of fun if you’re willing to take some time to learn the basics.
Now you know. It’s coming. Soon. Yes, this is also a commercial venture. Not hiding that. But I’m fucking proud of my new company, Scarlet Ibis Apothecary. I think I make some exceptional candles and sacred oils. It has become a part of my magical practice, and I want to share it with people. Maybe sell of few candles.
The Emergent Magick Patreon will also be revamped. It will be changed to the Scroll of Thoth Patreon. More on that when I actually have good bonus material to make that worthwhile for people.
Last, my beloved friend, Zentra El, came to me in August and said, “Jamesy-boy, I’m taking you to Egypt.” He has agreed to front the money for the plane tickets and the tour. I need to come up with the cash I will need in country, and eventually pay him back. After I get a few episodes out, I will be starting a GoFundMe or Fundly account for that. If you’re interested in a magician’s eye view of Egypt, I promise, I’m your man. I will be sharing everything I learn.
This is too long already. I love you tumblr. Please join me for the ride.

Get Undressed
Dressed candles are a legit part of the magical tradition, especially in African traditional practices and folk magic. Sadly, like so many aspects of our culture and our craft, we take things to excess. Many of the dressed candles we see are so packed with stones and glitter that they’re hardly a candle anymore. Scarlet Ibis focuses on beautiful, high-quality candles that smell terrific and evoke a spiritual energy that can compliment any practice, or just add atmosphere to your home. https://www.scarletibisapothecary.com/
