in any case darry got the hell out of dodge pretty quick, spent some time down in louisiana doing god knows what (mostly just found his way working freelance investigations for... anyone who’d pay him, frankly)
after ten more years away, darry has recently come back into town. he’s not very keen to explain to any locals why he’s haunting their doorway again. usually he’ll say he’s retired, or have a little fun and claim he’s working a case. maybe both are true.
he’s private, but very insistent. dry as a BONE these days. always warring between being entertained and impatient.

⟶ The road so far...
The Heartwell family has been around for as long as time can record, Anthony’s grandfather was born there and just like Thony, lived his whole life in that farm, the family farm, where they have lots of animals like cows, pigs, chickens, a wheat field and some vegetable plantations, and a nice lake nearby filled with fish.
The family wasn’t rich, they had their farm and everything they produced they would consume or sell at the farmer’s market, the Heartwell family is quite known to be very generous and have some nice products. But things got complicated a seven years ago when a fire happened at the farm, Anthony’s parents and his older brother, all dead, he was the only one to survive.
The farm started to die after that, Anthony had depression and took himself years to get his mind back to a good place, the fire didn’t killed him but in the accident he got injured and lost 15% of his movements, he can walk and work, but he can’t run, his legs would hurt and he would just fall to the ground. He had been making some progress since started therapy, his body is stronger now.
After a few years, the farm started to look alive again, Anthony was alone there taking care of everything and trying to keep things going, he couldn’t just give up, his family’s life was that farm so he would keep the business going. He kept his job at the farmer’s market, selling his stuff and people would always have some nice talks with him, Thony is a very nice and kind man, but he’s lonely, he has friends, he goes out with them sometimes, but he’s used to spend most of his days alone in his farm, taking care of his animals and his plantations.

The Basics
Celine St. Barbe was born on the 8th of July in New Haven, Maine to Dr. Christophe St. Barbe and Annabelle St. Barbe (neé Richards). Both of Céline’s parents were professors and Céline grew up in a very academic household.
She’s the third child and only daughter Christophe and Annabelle; with two older brothers, Christophe St. Barbe II and Campbell St. Barbe.
Céline had a strict upbringing, her parents demanding academic success and competitiveness between her and her brothers. Her mother pushed her into ballet as a girl and she danced till she was 16 before deciding to focus on her schoolwork more.
She did well in school and had her choice of universities, something she was proud of as were her parents. She started in pre-med and then went off to medical school where she found a love for psychology.
It was at university that she met her now ex-husband and they dated for several years. Finding out she was pregnant was the push Céline needed to eventually marry her ex-husband.
Medical school was also where she met her now lover and best friend. Céline and her best friend opened a psychology practice together after Céline and her family moved back to Sprigg. They’ve been here 19 years now.
Céline had always known she was attracted to women but for a long time thought of herself as only heterosexual. It wasn’t until she was in her 30s and already married that she realised she had no real attraction to men at all.
Over the years the explored her sexuality with little flings and affairs, of which her husband knew about. It wasn’t until a few years ago that she realised she was in love with her business partner. The pair had a brief affair before deciding to be together properly.

for college, she only went a few hours away to attend university of missouri, making frequent visits back in town. when she graduated, she was poised to take a job in the city . . . until she got word of an accident that claimed both of her parents. without question, gemma knew it was her duty to take over the bluebird inn and keep their memory alive.
she’s been back in old sprigg ever since, though she still yearns for a chance to explore. duty calls, though, and she’s not unhappy here. running the bluebird with her best friend is a dream come true, and now she’s just trying to liven up the town as best as she can.
basically, gemma’s very fun, warm, and good natured ; she can be quite mouthy at times, stubborn, but she always means well. she has the tendency to make everything into a joke ---- a bit like lorelai gilmore.

The Staples.
Daughter of the infamous Beckham Ford, she grew up as well adjusted as most kids in her place would. Not stupid enough to be blind to her father’s dealings, and not noble enough to judge. She loved him, that was the end all be all of it.
Besides, he was the parent who didn’t split. Aside for some stints in the clink and while those were hard on her. She remained completely bias in his favor.
And it’s not like she was an angel either. Fallon was twenty and a little aimless when her dad bought the lounge. It seemed to come at the perfect time, at nineteen she was almost charged with theft when she hot wired a car and took it for a joyride. But out of sheer luck they were dropped before the case could go anywhere.

BACKGROUND
he’s from a pretty big family. he’s a middle child. they grew up in this town. he’s been in old sprigg for all his life.
creating films/tv shows has been a dream of his for a long time. he probably did some sort of film course in university, although i’m still unsure.
he’s a creative sort of person, yet at the same time thoroughly practical. it’s both a nature and nurture thing: he was blessed enough to be a grounded, down-to-earth man by nature, but growing up with financial problems within the family certainly helped mould him into the pragmatist that he is.
that said, his solution for his family’s financial problems was rather unorthodox: he grabbed the chance to get into local soap operas, audition for them. he was successful. i mean, he’s smart, but he’s not boring. it may be an unusual solution, but it was one that presented itself to him. he would’ve just been stupid if he didn’t take it.
PERSONALITY/NOW
he’s just turned thirty, but you could liken his personality a bit like to a senior citizen’s lmao
it’s not even that he’s an old soul, he’s just surly. i know pisces have a repute for being very emotional but this man (a pisces) honestly strikes some people as Stone-Cold a lot of the time
he is, however, in fact a deeply caring guy. he always buys his siblings ice cream and toys and stuff. (his love for his family def is a factor in why he wants kids so badly wnjfnjnd HE’S DAD MATERIAL OK)
his temperament is largely the opposite of the melodramatic stuff in the tv series he stars in. they’re exaggerated af and eric is really chill. he’s like the most normal person in the acting industry and i mean that in the sense that he’s candid, is fairly phlegmatic, doesn’t put on airs, and is dependable. stable. his vibe is more or less the vibe of this song if it makes any sense lmao
that said, he loves a good beer and the dancefloor (even if he’s not v good at the dancing) which is why you can find him hanging out with his friends (and gf?) at the bullfrog brewery a lot.

this vampire guy right here was born and bred in old sprigg, missouri, so old sprigg isn’t just a small town for him. his family had money so he had an a-okay upbringing. parents were pretty strict, having a set of rules for john and his siblings. he’s the oldest of four; one brother & two sisters, so as you can assume, the goldsteins were a crazy, jewish ménage.
growing up, he always had a keen interest in architecture. he’d point out the many buildings whenever they traveled. little johnny’s goal was to become an architect. before that, john wanted to be an astronaut, but that’s besides the point. he went to usc and graduated with a bachelor of architecture degree.
deciding to stay in california for a few years after graduating, he found a job at a design firm. starting out as an intern wasn’t too shabby, though. he’s a talented guy and the owners of the studio noticed his talent ... after 3 years, almost a little too late. however, he couldn’t find it in his heart to say ‘no’ to becoming a part of the team.
worked as an architect for 15 years before moving back home. however, he’d left behind the opportunity to start his own design firm. prior to coming back, his long-term relationship ended and was absolutely devastated. he’s STILL as single as a missing pair of socks. tragic. [ 37 years old ] : returned despite how heartbroken he was.
he’s one of those fun uncles. he’s got a couple of nieces and nephews. the family keeps growing and growing, then there’s jonathan: single but he doesn’t mind one bit. or does he ? doesn’t believe in marriage, so give him someone to love who might believe the same thing about a piece of paper ?
living in california, he traveled twice a year to old sprigg to visit his old pals and family, so you might’ve seen him around. goodbyes kind of suck, so he isn’t one to say goodbye. whenever he had/has to leave for a while, he will say: ‘see you later’ or ‘i’ll be back’ with a peace sign, trying to avoid making a reference to the terminator movies.
not an important note/quick summary: was away from missouri for 19 years. graduated from university of southern california. intern to full-time employee. pleased as fuck. met someone and dated them for a long ass time. she ended it. came back to old sprigg. heartbroken. moved on. been home for 12 years. single af. perhaps too old to become a parent / low-key gives up. works at home. active. constantly travels due to work. a busy bee, workaholic.

this girl has a love and hate relationship with her name. not only is it hebrew for ‘deer, gazelle’ but her mom’s constant reminder that it ‘fits’ her makes her give up. letty is, in fact, her nickname. she’ll introduce herself as dr. al-azwár if you’re stopping by the old sprigg veterinary clinic for your furry lil friend’s check-up and whatnot.
she grew up in a jewish household in brooklyn, new york. the al-azwárs are of moroccan and polish descent, so she grew up learning hebrew and arabic, plus a few other languages. probably a linguist. honestly, she never stops learning in general. if there’s a library, then knowledge is power. was in ap classes through the school years... including college. but she wouldn’t consider herself a genius. always pressured herself to be the best. she’s a damn perfectionist.
with her parents permission, she had a job when she was 16 years of age, so had been earning money ever since — dreaming of attending college. thankfully, mom and dad were more than okay with her wanting to become a veterinarian. they supported letty in every step of the way. which came to a surprise for her but she didn’t question them at all.
earned her doctor of veterinarian medicine degree ( dvm ) when she was 23. took a gap year before attending [ name of college ]. pretty fucking proud of herself, even though there were pretty hard obstacles along the way, and she was up for any challenges. but let’s face it, life after college can be tough af with landing your dream job. especially in new york.
managing on getting her degree, she worked two part-time jobs to be able to afford rent, since she decided to move to manhattan afterwards. just 2 words: big mistake. letty isn’t the type of person to ask for help, considering she is still paying off school. it’d been 2 years until she realized that the best choice for her was to move states. well after paying her taxes and bills, and making a budget. at that point, she was on the verge of having a mental breakdown.
giving her landlord the heads up, the first thing she did was notify her parents that she was selling her studio apartment and moving back to brooklyn, and into her childhood home. asking if it was all right because she’d refuse to accept their money and advise them of their retirement plan, hoping to care for them when the time came. a little superstitious, letty knocks on wood every time.
choosing to move to old sprigg, missouri was completely random. however, she had the desires of moving to a small town. the first thing she did was buy a ticket to missouri and visited the charming town. she fell in love with old sprigg; it had / has its charm. how long did she stay ? A WEEK, and it was enough for her to make the decision.
for the past seven years, she has lived in missouri and worked as the vet at its clinic ( totally forgot to mention she lived with her parents for 2 years beforehand ) and couldn’t be happier. letty can be found hanging out at the clover with a glass of wine in hand with a book in her hand.
personality wise: has the strongest desire and determination to succeed. kind, friendly, patient. the mom friend to people she’s closet to. concerned more with the needs and wishes of others than her own. has a quick & delicate appreciation of others’ feelings, especially with animals. inclined to worry, a clinical worrier. introverted but ambivert. / more to be added.

he moved out of the family home at eighteen , car loaded with boxes and heart full of sorrow and the inexplicable joy of what was to come . he can’t say he’s sorry for leaving , but he will admit that it was hard . living in such a close - knit , beautiful family , you get very attached to the people around you and having to leave is a pain like no other . ( he drove home every chance he could , brought books and records for his younger siblings to swap around , told stories of university life with only a touch of embellishment , bc no one wants to hear another story abt how you stayed home on friday night rereading the iliad again . )
he pretty much cruised through uni on high marks , tbh . in his latter years he became a tutor and peer mentor , but he pretty much stuck to himself for most of his time there . he dabbled in theatre arts , stage managed and starred in a few shows , but for the most part he stuck to his own guns and got through uni the way he wanted to . it’s here that he starts drafting ideas for his own plays , but he doesn’t take them too seriously . he tends to write them as a detox from writing legal essays , and his first ones aren’t great but they get better and better as time goes on .
after he graduated with first class honours , gabe started looking for work and after a month of relative unemployment ( there was a whole lot of greasy takeout and near - teary breakdowns experienced that month ) , he got the job of an absolute lifetime --- - working as a legal assistant in a firm in new york city . he didn’t hesitate about taking that job .
new york wasn’t quite what it was cracked up to be . the rent on his apartment was exorbitant , moments of peace and quiet were transitory , he was overworked and underpaid , but there was still something about it that appealed to him like nothing else . he’d save his change and go see broadway shows when he could , fell in love with everything about the theatre . note that his burgenoning love for theatre didn’t replace his love for the law --- - it merely grew out of the same place , that same love for language and literature that drove him into law .
he ended up working in new york for about five years before deciding to pack it in and move back to old sprigg . there’d been a job opening back home and he was starting to feel the urge to return home --- so five years ago , he packed up his car again and made the long trip back home . he doesn’t regret leaving new york , not at all . he’d made quite the success story of himself there , and it’s not like he couldn’t just travel back and forth for big cases . the firm was reticent to let their ‘ hotshot little attorney ’ go , but it’s been the best thing for him .
he’s been back for five years now . he bought a house relatively close to his parents and siblings , and has since established a small business offering legal advice and taking on distance cases . he travels back and forth , but he loves it regardless . he’s adopted three dogs and a cat , all of whom insist on sleeping in the bed --- - gabe gets the smallest sliver of bed , naturally . he’s written two plays ( both of which have been published ) and he’s starting work on the third one now .

( yes , he saw greta thunberg’s tedtalk and promptly felt guilty and started making changes . )
used to smoke , because it was a social thing in the firm he worked at in nyc . since he’s moved back , he’s quit . he’ll have one a week if he feels the need .

— photography was an old pastime he gave up rather young to focus on more athletic endeavors, but in the wake of the fire and everything that’s happened, his therapist suggested he find something non-violent to pass his time. while cleaning out allison’s things, he found a box of polaroids and and old canon and he fell back into it. soon after, he bought a newer camera. he finds it calming. something about the world freezes for just a second and stopping forever in his hands. to have CONTROL over something.
— he’s working a bit of freelance photography but really isn’t trying all that hard at it. he doesn’t need the money, it’s more to keep himself busy, focused on something.

her parents encouraged it by allowing her to perform at the restaurant most nights, though they didn’t realize it came at the expense of her education. stella was never one to settle in school ----- she felt the world could teach her more than a classroom, and the library, her second home, offered more cultural insight than some feigned, washed out itinerary.
much to her family’s disappointment, she barely scraped by in school and didn’t care to attend college. she also decided that she needed to be on the move ; she decided that she always had to be somewhere new. this spirited approach to the word left her emboldened ----- and vulnerable. not everyone would be as kind to her soul and her talents as the guests in her father’s restaurant.
over the years, she accumulated a few sketchy ex partners, a passionate spirit, and her sultry voice remains an undiscovered gem. she found old sprigg by chance, initially just planning to stop through on her way to somewhere bigger. she was a waitress at bruce’s diner and worked odd jobs around town until a jazz club opened up ----- so she took her chance and now she can officially call herself a lounge singer. even if it’s in a small town club.
her restless spirit hasn’t died, and she still needs excitement. she always has her foot out the door of anything --- jobs, responsibilities, relationships --- but she’s still got a bright spirit that’s difficult to deny.

The Breakdown.
Born and raised in town, she and her family aren’t close. Although she makes an effort with some members more than others, she mostly sticks to herself and she’s the first to say it’s better that way.
A girl used to be being disappointed in people around her, she keeps her eyes forward and on her work. It’s easier that way.
In lieu of family stability she was in after school programs a lot as a kid, taking drama classes at the community center whenever she could. Barrett was often found doing her homework between scenes and in between music lessons.
She learned to sing, play piano, act and even got semi-okay at dancing by the time moved onto high school. Keeping up with it all was exhausting, but school productions became her life during the school year and in the summer she tried to do shows for the community theater as well.
Landed her first lead role at fifteen, which was meant to have been a highlight of her life. Except that a local critic wrote about the show in the paper, calling her acting try-hard and ultimately recommending everyone see the shows with her understudy instead.
Needless to say, the already shaky confidence she had disappeared after that. And she’s been fighting that battle ever since.
Barrett takes perfectionism to a level of self-destruction at times, and there have been times it did pay off. She’s landed lead roles in productions in her home town and some of the surrounding counties. But the voice in her head has all but convinced her, it’s not enough.

— he excelled at it from the start, and as he found himself breaking record after record there was talk of him making junior olympic teams and other things that jack found, quite frankly, insane to consider. when he entered his sophomore year he met a girl by the name of paige irwin; jack was already an immensely popular boy ( his good looks and kind heart drawing people to him more easily than he expected most times ) but he’d never taken to anyone the way he took to paige. he was smitten with her immediately and did everything in his power to get to know her and spend every bit of spare time he had dedicating himself to that effort. it was, in essence, a whirlwind high school romance and jack happily asked paige to be his girlfriend two months into their knowing one another.
— they’d been dating for two years when paige came to him nearly in tears, and after jack cycled through several questions that seemed intent on tracking down a specific person to find fault with - she admitted that she was pregnant. jack had never planned on becoming a father at such a young age but he eagerly informed paige that he would do everything in his power to be a wonderful father to their future child and a wonderful partner for paige in general. their graduation approached faster than either of them knew what to do with and rather than go away for school like they’d been planning, both of them made the choice to attend the university of missouri so they would never be far from a support system in the form of their families. jack never regretted the choice and a few months into their first year of college their daughter eleanor violet ashworth was born.
— she was, as far as jack was concerned, the most beautiful thing in his entire life and outside of the occasional frantic call to his mother at two AM seeking advice, jack considered fatherhood and his marriage to paige to be the most important things in his life. time passed and both jack and paige became teachers - jack choosing to teach history in old sprigg and paige teaching at the elementary school. both of them were immensely passionate and their relationship only seemed to flourish once they shared a profession between them. their lives remained picture perfect until ellie was around twelve - at which point paige informed jack that she felt their relationship had run its course and she needed something new.
— though he was heartbroken jack was determined to maintain a healthy relationship with his now ex-wife and they’re still friendly, though paige no longer lives in old sprigg. it’s been a year and a half since the divorce and jack is finally getting to a place where he feels he might be able to get out into the world again as a single man, and a single father. he has full custody of his daughter and trying to wrangle a newly teenage girl is one of the most difficult but arguably most fulfilling things he’s ever done in his life.
