one thing I'd absolutely emphasize in the trc tv show is that all the cars (Noah's, pig, Ronans, adams, even henrys) will randomly start playing a song regardless of whether they have functioning audio systems. every time it happens it's a shot of the empty car radio flickering on

one of the only times someone catches it happening is when blusey are on that bluff and jump apart in alarm when the pig starts playing Metallica or something lol . it always starts as diagetic sound and then turns into the soundtrack as the pov shifts to someone else for whom the song DOES fit

i am so SICK of this mentality that the only way for a story to have stakes is if it routinely kills off main characters, and if it doesn't, then it's "boring" and "disappointing." if the only way a narrative can get an audience to care about stakes is violent death, then it's a poor narrative. deaths can be tragic and profound and carry weight, when they are done *correctly* and with intent that impacts and informs the narrative, but the idea that killing beloved characters is a requirement to shock your audience is such a bad paradigm. a character showing growth and expressing desires doesn't mean their arc is over and it's time for them to die, i BEG everyone to stop perpetuating this

as far as “long running shows to start watching in winter and then get Weird about” go i think the football show is probably the safest option i could have gone with. i don’t even see myself getting THAT weird about it. i assume i’ll have a fondness for patheticboy and an appreciation for ours music video guy and his (i assume) eventual romance with the coach’s daughter. i think i’ll love Jason Street but i KNOW the drama with his girl is gonna get on my nerves. unsure how i feel about uh. smash. he’s alright but kind of a dick but it feels like a little racist to me that the only poc in here is such an asshole so i’m gonna be forgiving at least for now :/ i don’t.
