Sable flushed and flinched, turning her attention back to the canvas. She was painting a portrait of Nava and was hoping she could get some emotion out of her. Instead, she just felt embarrassed.

“Oh, thank you... it’s actually something my ... friend wrote.” She still didn’t want anyone to know about her brother yet- not in this neighborhood. Thankfully, she could mask the hesitation with her concentration on painting. “We would use it as part of a theater exercise during rehearsals like a warm up. Guess it’s just memorized now,” she chuckled.

“I'm sorry for being too ... familiar.” She sighed to herself and her voice quieted. “I don't really have a lot of friends here....”

It was a slow day on the ship today, and the samurai was thankful for it to be over. It was always so boring when the fish weren’t biting, and as kind as Fischer was, she was also annoying to be around at times.

It was rather dark now, and she was well aware of how cities could change when the sun went down. As such, she had her hand on the hilt of her sword as she walked. Even now, thousands of miles from home, the lingering paranoia that someone was lurking around every corner haunted her. Such was the life she chose. That was why when she turned the corner to be greeted by the sight of another person, her instincts forced her to flick the sword slightly out of it’s scabbard before she realized that it was just some kid.

“Apologies,” she said simply, no inclination of any strong emotion in her voice. “I didn’t hear anyone approaching.”

“It’s a... complicated thing....” Linnaeus kept facing Lye, though his eyes were gazing out of the window to watch the rain. The tea he’d ordered sat untouched on the table before him, still steaming for now. Being without Honey was a bit unnerving, and sitting alone with someone he barely knew for personal reasons outside of work felt taboo. “... I’m not used to... building relationships. It’s not something that’s supposed to happen.”

“Aryl..” Walking out of the elevator that lead down to his research area just as Jae seemed to be entering into the building. “Do you have a moment?” He’d been meaning to speak to Jae for a while but with everything going on he just didn’t have the time until now. Seemed everything finally lined up. “If you’re just coming in from patrol or an assignment I promise this won’t take long and you can be on your way.”

That much was obvious, Hadrian was never one to speak to a lot of people, especially those he found to be beneath him on an intellectual level. Taking a sip of his coffee “I have a few questions I’d like you to answer if you don’t mind. It’s for a project I’m working on.”

“She’s so beautiful,” Sage sighed longingly. “Look at her, Neptune. Have you ever seen anyone that could captivate a room like that? She’s graceful, beautiful.... Totally out of my league.”

“Tch, bullshit. You’re a pop star now! Did you forget all the girls that scream your name and hold up signs with our faces and hearts drawn all over? You have a better shot than you give yourself credit for.” Neptune glanced over to the pair before taking his drink with a smug shrug. “If you’re gonna do it, better do it quick before someone else does.”

Sage flinched and shook his head, diverting his attention as he picked up a glass of champagne. “Well, she’s clearly with someone right now, I’ll just wait until-”

“Oh for Creation’s sake,” Neptune rolled his eyes and huffed, shoving Sage toward the pair. After a few steps, he popped out from behind Sage and calmly approached Bonnie and Nava with a charming smile. Sage, meanwhile, downed his glass, hoping the ‘liquid courage’ would help, then placed the empty glass on a passing tray.

“Gooood evening, Miss Lavender~. Is he-” Neptune glanced to Bonnie and his brow furrowed a moment. “Oh. Oh, I’m so sorry, I couldn’t tell from afar. U-up close now, I see two visions of beauty.” He looked between the two suspiciously. “Are you ladies... um... together? Orrr...,” a new idea sprung to mind and he turned his charm to Bonnie, speaking to Nava while keeping his eyes on Bonnie’s.  “Would you mind terribly if I could have a moment with this gorgeous being before me~?”

Sage watched from the side, trying not to seem like he was just waiting around. He decided to look at the designs and decorations for the time being, hands in his pockets, foot tapping nervously.

“Cool, thanks.” He actually hadn’t expected her to say yes. For a second he wondered if maybe he shouldn’t. This was Lye Marigold, one of the theater’s most prominent stars right now. Marigold.... Hold on.

“Wait- okay, this is gonna sound really stupid, but... are you related to Van Marigold?” They looked really similar, but assuming was always dangerous.

Mona was positively glowing at the afterparty. She was still a little blown away that her team had taken home the victory, and she had to admit that there was still a tiny bit of adrenaline in her system from the final round. She was enjoying the refreshments and ambiance, when she spotted one of her teammates across the way. She hated to be a bother, but what would be the harm in just talking to him?

She strolled over, beverage still in hand, and offered a pleasant smile.

“Excuse me, Jae Aryl was it?” she started. “I wished to offer my sincerest congratulations. You performed quite well in the tournament, and I’m glad to have the chance to compete alongside you.”

There were only a small amount of things Cardin just… Couldn’t do. Of course, he was face to face with one of those particular things. He decided he wanted to make something for Nava and of course, what he decided on was just a simple cake. But baking was not something he was good at, not at all.

“Well?” He stood by Van, another seemingly nice slice of chocolate cake placed on a table in front of them, ready to be tasted. “Tenth times the charm, right?” A trash can was nearby filled to the brim with failed cakes, all tasteless or bitter.

Calling Van was an easy decision, he knew no one else better to put through this torture. Cardin didn’t like sweets, at all, so trying them himself would result in nothing but frustration as he purely didn’t know what was too sweet or too bitter or just plain gross. But all attempts so far have been more than failures.

“For the love of Dust I really hope I made it perfect this time…”

Since he woke up earlier than the rest of his team, Shanyin felt like now would be a pretty good time to get in an early workout. But, he stopped in front of the gym when he heard voices coming from inside. Weird, he didn’t think anyone would be training right now. Curious to see who it was, he opened the door to find someone working through some drills.

The girl was busy at work on a device of uncertain purpose to the outside observer at the moment, playing with the wires while she got them in place for soldering. It was always fun to watch the sparks play off the ends. Her attention was drawn away at the sound of her doorbell alarm.

She spun in her seat, sliding up her goggles, and smiling at her customers.

“Welcome to Sprocket’s Toolbox, what can I help you with?”

Maybe it wasn’t that big of a deal and he was making it worse than it needed to be, but not being able to help, trying desperately to go out on his own into society and failing miserably.... If he couldn’t make it past the edge of the ruins without Amma or a Marigold beside him, what was the point? Maybe he’d never be the hero he wanted to be; that he was raised to be.

The girl’s presence had gone unnoticed at first, but when his eye caught her glance and he watched her make a strange smile, Sol recoiled a bit. “W-who? Wha-? W-where did you fum crumb? C-come from?” He looked anxiously to the handkerchief and sniffled before hesitantly reaching out with a shaking hand to take it from her. “Yank thoo- th-thank you! ... Sorry....” ... What now? What was he supposed to do? Anything? Who was this girl? And why was she trying to help him?

Sun had just come back to the bar after pulling some (in his opinion) killer moves on the dance floor. He leaned his elbows on it while waiting for his drink, which was finally ready. 

“Thanks~!” He grabbed the drink with his tail just to show off and turned to go find the rest of his crew. That is, until he was bumped into by a small woman with impressive rabbit ears who had seemingly tripped into him. Huh, guess holding the drink with the tail had practical uses, too, otherwise it would have spilled everywhere.

He looked down at her with a bit of a confused smile and chuckled. “Yeah, that can happen. But people don’t usually break their shoes over it. You okay?” She was obviously drunk and maybe she hadn’t even noticed the broken heel. “Here, hold on.” He gently set his drink on the bar beside them and took Lye gently by the arms to guide her to sit on a stool. “All good?”
