#it felt the most whimsical and mysterious #I miss bratty teen amethyst #and lil baby boy steven #and mystery cool mom garnet #and sad bird pearl although tbf her later character development is absolutely everything to me #but just #the genuine wonder of the glittery magic and the monsters and the kinda anything-goes wildness? #the surrealism?? #the shrouded aura of the legend of Rose Quartz? #the 'oh shit suddenly this is real' moments towards the end of the season after just the weird shenanigans? #the random missions in various old gem locations? #chef's fucking KISS baby #the absolute VIBES #and not gonna lie while the rose/pearl backstory is interesting I miss the idea of wild benevolent rebel leader Rose Quartz #and actual renegade Pearl #like pearl's thing with being attached to Rose in a servile way could still work. She escaped one master and clung to another. #but yeah I keep thinking about what would happen in the show if it weren't for the massive twists #but ofc I know the Pink Diamond reveal was supposed to make me feel betrayed and uncomfortable and I respect that
