I'm trying hard NOT to use the word "refreshing" any time I write about this drama but damn, is it difficult LOL

A lot of xianxias will have the FL go through some sort of trial (usually blindness) and it's a very romanticized, very temporary thing. Not a permanent disability. And definitely nowhere near an accurate representation of disability.

We know exactly who is blind because look! Obviously! We must have a white cloth tied around their head to denote blindness! Nevermind that it doesn't do anything! We must show which character it is!

That was the first thing I noticed about SL's loss of senses. No stupid white cloth tied around her eyes. (Thank fuck for that.)

When I read the novel, I was also quite surprised at the bit about her needing to use the bathroom and her embarrassment at needing XZ's help. It goes into more detail in the novel but I was very pleased with it being in the drama, too. Loss of dignity is a very real thing when it comes to disabilities and needing help with bodily functions. Seeing it in a drama just... It made me choke up a bit to see a small part of my struggles represented.

XZ is also amazing at being supportive of her disabilities. He provides accomodations! Mobility aids! Emotional support! And all he asks for is a widdle cheek caress like the Simp Loser ML that he is lolol

Anyway I'm gonna end the post with a scene that now lives rent free in my head - the widdle cheek poke that XZ does after soothing her nightmares away. PLZ I'M SO SINGLE

I mean he cooks, he’s mothering (I assume that’s the reverse of the meme “mother is fathering”), he’s funny and cheerful and pure hearted (kinda?), he is hot, and he is also accidentally the most powerful being in the universe that is still alive.

— like that guy is one of the hottest fantasy characters (along with Joon from Black, nogitsune Stiles, Philippe de Clermont and Sirius Black) that I am just watching every scene with him like this:

The Legend of ShenLi (与凤行, Yu Feng Xing native title) episode 26 spoilers below.

AUGH the level of detail in the script! It truly makes a difference when a good novelist is the one who puts the script together for a drama because *chef's kiss* to the detail I missed in EP 26.

From what I understand in Chinese, adding an A' in front of someone's name is an extra sign of affection. If their name is Fengyin, for example, leaving out the Feng part and calling them A'Yin means you have a certain close relationship (could be friends, family, lovers, etc).

Up until EP 26, XingZhi has always called her Bicang Wang (title), Wangye (title), and when he's feeling a widdle brave, by her name, ShenLi. (Sorry not sorry but he's forever a Simp Loser to me lolol meant with all the fondness.)

But when he finally finds her by the sea after believing her to be dead? Xingzhi calls her A'Li for the first time, acknowledging the affection in his heart for her.

Zingzhi : she's *so* important to me now and I shall call her by what is proper. she is my A'Li.

Good for him.

Guys I just finished ep 38, and I am really confused about the years in Shen li. Can anyone that has read the book help me out?

ShenLi’s ex fiancé told her that many years have passed since Xing Zhi’s death but then she said that it’s been almost a year.

And then people keep saying that either a thousand years have passed since the creation of the abyss or thousands of years.

So which one was true?
