personally i think what makes me most upset about white gays that use AAVE/ballroom slang/blaccetnt is the fact that when it comes to it, too few of them are going to stand alongside black and brown people. they’re not going to confront racism when it’s inconvenient, they’re not going to challenge any internalized racism. if anything, they’re going to keep the status quo as long as it doesn’t include homophobia, and even then, homophobia that ONLY applies to them. and for them why bother? why bother doing anything else than just be the sassy gay person whose ‘ahead of the curve’ than to actually do any meaningful for the people they owe it to?
