theres this guy who works with me and does a monthly program where he shows a movie for free at a local indie theater. it's really cool and fun but he literally is only picking like extremely, shall we say, un-diverse movies and it's getting kind of irritating. one of the movies had 1 gay character who had the least lines of any of the main characters and 1 had implied gay characters (dead poets society) and 0 have had a single person of color in any of the supporting cast let alone the main cast

#theres always a discussion afterwards and no one even brought up dead poets society being gay #i was too nervous #i only talk in those discussions when someone says something idiotic and im compelled by god to correct them #i know his options are somewhat cost prohibitive but there has to be some other options here #this isnt like 'i only care about diversity in media and not plot' #i just would like to see a story that doesnt center on white heterosexuality #and there are tons of incredible movies that perfectly fit in his lineup that would fit the bill #i reallllly want him to show moonlight bc i never got to see it in the theater and its so fucking good #but i feel weird suggesting things to him. not sure he really cares too much for my opinion
