WHEREVER YOU WANNA GO, THATâS FINE WITH ME â MEGUMI FUSHIGUROÂ
cw mentioned/talks about death but not like⌠in a serious way đ this whole thing is very unserious and stupid itâs just a thought i couldnât get out of my head, megumi being⌠megumi, f2l but whatâs new, also inspired by some clip from a tv show iâve seen on tt but idk the name of it, if you do pls let me know
you ask megumi you make one of those marriage pacts with youâthat if neither of you are married by thirty-five, you two will get married to each otherâand he just hums for a moment before asking, âdo you think iâll be better suited for marriage at thirty-five?â
âwhat? nâi donât know? maybe? it just seems like an appropriate age to get married if youâre not already, thatâs all,â you explain.
more humming. he blinks, âi donât think iâll be all that different at thirty-five.â
âwell, thatâs concerning,â you joke, âyouâre supposed to changeâgrow a little bit as a person and all that, megumi. even you are capable of it.â
âi wonât want anything different out of a marriage at thirty-five than i would right now,â he corrects you, then turns to you, and with all seriousness demands, âso, state your stipulations. what do you want from me, letâs figure out of this is gonna work now.âÂ
you scoff, and cross your arms. âwhat do i want from you? thatâs not how a marriage works.âÂ
âthatâs how this friendship already works.âÂ
you say, megumi does; he pushes it than he should have, you say to stop, and eventually he does, and the cycle continues. heâs always stubborn, and sacrificing himself beyond necessity, and youâre always pulling his ear for it.Â
âokay. fine,â you settle, straightening your posture, âi want a house. three bedrooms, so nobara and yuuji donât have to bicker about sharing when they stay over.âÂ
megumi considers it, then counters with, âfour. gojo needs a bedroom, too. one floor, i donât like stairs.âÂ
âwhere the fuck are we going to find a one-level four-bedroom house? i donât want to live in the middle of butt-fuck nowhere.âÂ
âweâll find one,â he shrugs, doesnât flinch when he promises: âor iâll have one made for us. next: vacations.âÂ
âtwice per year. somewhere tropical, and somewhere metropolitan.âÂ
âi donât like the beach.âÂ
âthen you donât have to go on the beach.âÂ
âyouâre responsible for me if i burn.âÂ
âiâm responsible for you either way, iâm your wife,â you taunt, âpets, next. i want dogs. two. maybe three. and a bunny.âÂ
âno bunnies, theyâre too much work.â
âbut i want a bunny, megumi.âÂ
âyou wonât have time for a bunny,â he rolls his eyes, âand youâre gonna get pissed when it chews up the expensive couch youâre gonna make me buy, and takes a shit in the expensive fruit bowl youâre gonna con gojo out of. no bunnies.âÂ
you pout and frown, but megumi doesnât budge: âno bunnies.âÂ
you sigh, âno bunnies, but i want the dogs.âÂ
âi didnât say no to the dogs. unless you want a golden, then iâm not raising that.âÂ
âwhy not? we already have yuuji.âÂ
âexactly, we already have yuuji.âÂ
âfine. i want a king sized bed. the really big, oversized ones you get in america.âÂ
âdone. children?âÂ
âyou want children?â
megumi shrugs, but you swear thereâs a dust of pink on his cheeks, âmaybe. maybe not. if i did, no more than two.âÂ
and suddenly you canât help but feel heat in your own face, hot with the image of two tiny megumis running around.Â
âthatâs fine with me. maybe kids, but no more than two,â you cough, âi want one of those heated driveways for the house.â
âiâll have it built. iâll clean and do laundry and take out the trash if you cook.â
âwhat about days i donât cook?â
âthen iâll do that, too,â megumi nods, âanything else?â
âyes. if i die first, you can remarry, but you visit my grave at least twice a year, and bring peonies. and that picture of me from prom where i look really good.âÂ
âno.âÂ
you stop. you blink. âwhat do you mean âno?â you wouldnât visit my grave?âkinda cruel considering i birthed your up-to-two future children and raised your dogs.âÂ
âi wonât remarry. and i donât want you to if i die first,â he corrects you, again, âand thereâs no dying first and leaving me behind, iâm going with you.â
he doesnât leave room for debate in his declarations: wonât, donât; not wouldnât, shouldnât, couldnâtâyou have to pinch yourself to stop chasing the rabbit of temptation running through your mind.Â
âi donât⌠think you get to decide that,â you chuckle.Â
âof course i do,â megumi grins, uncrosses his legs and leans over. he reaches a hand to the back of your head and pushes it forward until your foreheads meet gently; and as if the affection wasnât shocking enough, he continues, âwhere you go, i go. thatâs marriage, right?âÂ
he widens his smile a bit, before letting you go, leaning back into his seat again with crossed arms like nothing happened, and youâre left staring, blinking, breathing shallowly like prey that narrowly escaped being caught.
you donât speak, so megumi does, âi have one more thing.âÂ
and slowly, you unthaw enough to let out a questioning hum. megumi tilts his head before telling you, âi want your last name.âÂ
âwhat? youâyou would change your name?â you stutter, âbut fushiguro is so pretty! and itâs your momâs name, so few people get their motherâs names.âÂ
âyeah. this way, our up-to-two children get their motherâs names, too.âÂ
âiâokay⌠yeah, i guess they do,â you gape, then pout, âwait, what if i wanted to be mrs. fushiguro?âÂ
âtough luck,â he grins, âyou get everything else.âÂ
you get me, instead, is whatâs left unsaid.Â
âokay, fine. sounds like a deal to me.âÂ
âgreat. we canât have a spring wedding because gojo and toji will sneeze obnoxiously loudly, and we canât have a summer wedding because the anniversary will conflict with our tropical vacation, and nobara will kill us if itâs too close to her birthday,â he says, standing up from the couch to head to the kitchen, âso iâll see you at the courthouse in september.âÂ
you nod reflexively, sinking back into the couch with a satisfied smile. itâs a while before your brain processes his words, and when it finally does, you spring up in a fluster, âoctober? megumi, i said when when weâre thirty-five and if neither of us are already married! megumi? megumi fushiguro, come back here!âÂ
