Crystal

Wow lmao very straight forward lol okay

I might ramble a bit here so bear with me

Okay so!!

There are are about 7 mystic crystals, some rare than others. They're all found all throughout the Hidden city, there have been businesses that capitalizes in mining these crystals. It is unknown where or how it is created, but the crystals seem to grow on their own and not go through the natural process of the rock cycle, so there's always some available if you know where to look.

I'll explain each crystal's functions from common to rare.

Blue

One of the most common crystals.

It makes portals basically.

The entrances to the hidden city often times have them embedded into it. Yokais have easy access to this as it is the reason why they can get in and out of the Hidden City

The turtles briefly owned one, it's in the compass they used to get into the hidden city in the first episode.

It's widely used.

There are some sellers that sell it as jewelry that you can easily break or shatters, once it does, a portal opens to the last location you think about. Yokais usually use it as accessories or a quick escape if they're not near any of the Hidden City entrances.

Leo's sword is imbued with this crystal's ability

Orange

It's quite common but not everyone can have easy access

It's for illusions

It's one of the key ingredients in cloaking brooches

A small piece of it is enough to maintain a convincing enough human illusion.

While inside the cloaking brooch, it is controlled to cloack yokais as humans and nothing else

If you just use it as is, in its raw state, you can change your appearance at will and in powdered form with the right chemicals mixed in, it can be a very powerful hallucinagen

Mining for it can be tough as the cave its commonly found it loves to play tricks

Yellow

Found in large clusters

It's related to energy

The Hidden City uses it to power their city

It functions the same way as the tree crystals/power cell in tmnt 2012

It's one of the most dangerous crystals as it's very volatile. You need to deal with it delicately

Because of how dangerous it is, the miners would carefully mine around the large cluster of crystals and build a power plant around it to avoid having to transport it

It's hard to extract a small piece, but if you do end up getting just a small shard, it's capable of powering the entirety of New York for months

Pretty brittle

Green

It's more commonly seen around witches and are a little rare outside their circle since they refuse to share the location of where it's found

It's related to health

These crystals are often used in health potions, turning into powder and mixing it in with specific ingredients can help heal specific injuries or sickness

Witches can also use it as is, bending the energy from within the crystal and onto sick or injured people, turning the crystal gray, which it becomes unusable

Sometimes used as jewelry as well

Purple

Not quite as common and commercially used by yokai kind

It's related to mystic magic

Most commonly used by weapon smiths and sometimes witches

It has concentrated mystic magic within and is used to imbued weapons with magic

In its natural state, it is not that useful

But used in weapons or magic, it shows its many talents

The mystic abilities it imbues into a weapon is unpredictable, only experienced weapon smiths can manipulate it into doing what they want

It can also act as a magical powersource as well as help track mystical objects like itself

Donnie's goggles have this.

The reason why Aoi looks like a swirl of blues from his goggles' perspective is because Aoi is somewhat maintained because of mystic magic

Pink

Same as purple, not that commonly used, mostly its used for superstitious beliefs or jewelry

It's of course, ghost related

It can help people see ghosts, so it's usually used as mirrors in front of houses like a superstitious belief that ghosts would get scared of their own appearances that they would not enter your home

It actually just doesn't allow them through, like how people believe salt stops demons and ghosts from entering

If used and manipulated the right way, it can allow people to interact with ghosts

An example of this is Rouge's taser, which is powered by the pink crystal, which can hurt Aoi

Rouge's helmet also contains a shard of the pink crystal, so she's able to see Aoi.

Aoi however, only looks like a shadow or a silhouette, she still doesn't know what he looks like becasue he's not from this world and he's made of mystic magic

Leo sees Aoi's corpse through the pink mirrors in Ring Around the Rosie because he can see him normally

If any of the others were to look, Aoi would look the same as what Rouge sees

Red

Only two known to have ever existed and one of them is artificially made

Finding one naturally is tough

It's involves the mind

The first appearance of this type of crystal appearing is in Ring Around The Rosie, which is the stone everyone butchers the name of: The Kirikaemasu Stone

It's exact use is unknown and there's little written about it to know how it functions

The CJ twins meet Splinter (but the catch is Casey is absolutely terrified of rats)

They're all pretty close by now (especially April and the jones kids) but Splinter really dislikes having others enter his home (and especially other humans, considering he used to be human too)

April doesn't usually listen but Splinter is used to that (he has 4 kids that are always so rowdy)

April also didn't know Casey was terrified of rats and right after this she profusely apologized to him and Cassie.

April found the brothers in the woods cause her family was out camping (after just moving to new york) and the boys wanted to explore and splinter said "eh go ahead just dont go too far"

Did you notice that Leo likes getting carried and Raph likes carrying people? Yeah

Splinter was only ready to become a father of one, not a father of four mutants thats why he was pretty much absent for donnie, leo and raphs life, but he kind of changed was and "redeemed" himself
