hair.     navy blue; straight and glossy. worn in a jellyfish cut. ( or a short hime cut with a mullet — you decide. ) twin streaks of pale lavender frame the back of his head. his bangs are actually a bit longer than they appear at a glance; they stay partially tucked behind his ears. eyes.     a lighter shade of indigo; the color of storm clouds backlit by lightning. his eyes are unnaturally bright and painfully expressive, much to his chagrin. he makes his own eyeliner. skin.     ghostly pale. unnaturally free of any scars or imperfections. height.     5’2". his sandals add an extra inch; it doesn't help. weight.    lighter than a human of his size would be.

"aunt makoto?" who is that? pets.   none; constantly followed by a cavalcade of friendly woodland creatures like some manner of disney princess. partners.    verse dependent.

𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬.

it's  quite  common  for  ren  to  pick  up  miscellaneous  skills  —  in  particular,  he  has  a  (  seemingly  natural  )  talent  for  tactile  hobbies.  sewing.  calligraphy.  jewelry  making.  cooking. lockpicking. bookbinding.  little  things  that  require  a  set  of  deft  hands.  he  may  only  attempt  them  once  or  twice  to  see  how  he  feels  before  moving  on  to  the  next  interest.  it  doesn't  bother  him;  barring  specific  instances  where  he  has  something  in  mind  he  wants  to  make,  he  usually  dabbles  in  the  crafts  for  the  pleasure  (  distraction  )  of  doing  so  alone.  it  helps  keep  him  calm,  clear  his  head.

similarly,  he  still  knows  how  to  forge. he will never forget.

he  was  once  known  for  his  exemplary  talent  in  traditional  dance.  he  hasn't  lost  the  skill;  he  simply  can't  bring  himself  to  partake.  not  in  his  current  headspace.  (  ... perhaps  one  day.  )

he  has  naturally  accumulated  a  large  quantity  of  basic  life  knowledge  —  or  street / survival  smarts.  how  to  haggle.  when  he's  being  scammed.  which  plants  are  poisonous.  what  unconventional  places  to  comb  for  information.  (  street  vendors.  children.  drunks.  )  in  a  similar  vein,  ren  has  spent  many  years  studying  body  language,  voice  inflection  and  social  cues  to  learn  how  to  properly  replicate  them  —  though  not  his  original  intention,  it  does  mean  he's  grown  quite  adept  at  reading  people.  he  can  be  tactful  and  sneaky  when  he  wants  to  be.  he  can  be  the  picture  of  politeness.  he can reflect whatever personality you want to see. however,  if  it  doesn't  benefit  him,  he  probably  won't  bother.

and  yes,  it  goes  without  saying  but  he's  quite  adept  in  combat.  hands,  catalyst,  sword.  pick  your  poison.  he  swings  between  the  efficient  grace  of  a  performer  mid-dance  and  the  unconstrained  ferocity  of  one  who  honed  their  blade  through  centuries  in  the  abyss.  he  is  fully  aware  of  just  how  durable  he  is,  and  has  no  qualms  about  using  it  to  his  advantage. don't you dare bleed on him.

𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐬.

colors.   dark blue; it's a fairly recent revelation. smells. rain. earthy smells; dry soil and petrichor. he likes floral aromas, but specifically the more subtle, natural ones — nothing outright perfume-y. hot metal. warm, bitter tea. textures.  he has a strange fascination with textures in general; when given an object, his first instinct is to usually explore every surface with his fingers. he uses touch to determine quality. ( especially when it comes to weaponry. ) in particular, he prefers the rough drag of uncut, unpolished stone. drinks.   tea. black coffee. in terms of alcoholic drinks, he actually has a taste for snezhnayan firewater — purely by virtue of being one of the few things strong enough to get him well and truly intoxicated.

𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐬.

smokes.   he gains nothing from it, but he likes the taste. he discovered a liking for imported fontaine cigarettes when he had the fatui's money to burn, but nowadays the pleasure doesn't justify the hassle. if you offer him a chance to smoke, he won't refuse. drugs.   none; they would have little effect. driver license.   n/a ever been arrested.   multiple times; it never sticks. during his years of aimless, bitter wandering prior to joining the fatui, he was detained on a handful of occasions. ( most often for theft. ) he became quite adept at slipping away.

okay I’m coming home from a trip to Portland so I’m tired but. Hikoto dad moments.
