CW: Blood loss, cold whump, collapse, open ending capture
Whumpee gritted their teeth as they collapsed their shoulder against a tree. They huffed a breath of fridge air and looked down at the bloodstain on their shirt. It had grown since they last looked at it, blood was running down and tacking in the snow around their feet.
They bit down on their folded sleeve and tried to stop the bleeding, hoping the pain and pressure was worth it. They had lost so much blood already...
Before they could catch themselves, they slid down the tree and collapsed into the snow. They could barely feel the cold, it was only a sting crawling up their skin.
Suddenly, a hand came from around the tree and clamped over their mouth before they could shout.
"There you are. Snow really brings out your blood trail."

update about my dad, for context, look at these posts.
he's been diagnosed with severe bradycardia, a heart condition that pretty much means that his heart rate is much slower than it should be, and puts him at higher risk of other heart problems, or even a heart attack. this is all thanks to him not taking much care of himself within recent years. they're gonna keep him in for the next couple days to monitor him, change his meds around, and we'll see how things go. worst case scenario, he may need to have a pacemaker fitted.

@general-kalani | (No one prays for the Devil)
The sound of the blades whirring overhead, muffled as they were, was a death march. It heralded what she could only imagine was the end of all she knew and the start of something else. Something new and horrible and unending. Their voices sounded like trumpets, commanding and fearless as they rode upon metal steeds. Beams of light had seared into unholy eyes, rendering her blind until they deemed her worthy of sight, and what a sight it had been.
Gemina stared down out the window of the helicopter, her hands bound inside a steel mash bag that was tied off at her wrists. They'd even gone through the effort of muffling her, ensuring that she couldn't bite anyone who put their hands too close. How far she'd fallen from greatness; a wolf no more, but a lamb sent to slaughter.
At least the land below was beautiful, she was thankful for that. It reminded her of her hidden home back east, nestled into the Appalachian mountains. A deep regret flooded her body as she stared down at pillars of smoke rising from the town below; from up above it seemed so peaceful. So safe. Gemina closed her eyes, tears welling up in them and slipping down to dampen the muzzle clasped tightly around her mouth, and for the first time in decades, she said a silent prayer.
-Grant me your mercy, be you one god or many. For my sins are weighed and my karma balanced; I am no more evil than a bear protecting what is hers. If you truly are a being of forgiveness and light, deliver me now from those who seek to inflict your divine justice.-
It was a plea shouted into the dark of her mind, but it was all that was left to do. Gemina reopened her eyes to look at the valley once more, but it was then that everything shook. A massive heat filled the helicopter as it jostled to the side, flashing lights went off all around them as men shouted at each other, and they were falling. Falling down, down, down.
And then nothing.
When she reopened her eyes she was lying in the snow. Shadows danced at the edges of her vision as she stared ahead, seeing moving feet shifting through ripped steel and broken bodies. There was shouting; she recognized at least two of the voices; the agents that had finally managed to capture her were on their knees surrounded by men with guns. A bloodied, weak smile cracked across her lips as she realized her prayer had been answered.
Searing hot pain spread through her limbs as she tried to get up. When she did she noticed someone coming her way, but everything grew hazy once more. Just as they reached for her she fell back into a sticky, agonizing darkness with their voice -- unable to understand what they said -- echoing in her mind.
When she woke up once more she was somewhere entirely unfamiliar. "Where-.. Am I?" Lights hung above her which did nothing to help the headache, but at least she had the strength to slowly sit herself up. Whatever wounds she'd gotten were bandaged, the blood in her mouth had been cleaned, and -- her chest seized. Gemina looked down upon her bandaged hands to see her true skin peeking out from the dressings. Confusion compounded in her dazed state, but it was met with hope; they'd tended to her, hadn't they?
"Hello?!"

i want to cut myself but im also like. really fucking lazy, and i know that by the time i’ve found a blade and grabbed tissues and made sure i have the first aid supplies for aftercare, i’m not gonna have the energy it takes to cut to the level i’m generally satisfied with and that’ll cause me to feel worse. and also fuck cleaning up afterwards, it’s so much effort.
