This was an excellent show from the premier BritWres promotion, that featured great action up and down the card, a whole load of good, nothing bad, and the best match of the year so far.
Things kicked off with a fun, but unspectacular Scramble match, that had the surprise inclusions of Shigehiro Irie and AEW's Global champ, Orange Cassidy, who got a huge pop and put his belt on the line here. Which left the finish in no doubt really. This only went 8 minutes, and was essentially just a collection of high spots, and many of the guys didn't do much. I'm a fan of Big Shig, but honestly, he might as well not have been here as his contributions came to one spot. Same with Cassidy to be fair, he was AWOL most of this thing, selling a lowblow from Holliday, but it was still fun stuff. Orange pinned Holliday with the Orange Punch to retain. The RevPro Women's Title was on the line next. This was another good match, but I wasn't a massive fan of the finish, which brought it down slightly for me. Despite seemingly having the match won, Reed inexplicably went to use Dani's title belt, but payed for it as she ate an Elevated German into the ring and a Luna Landing for the champion to retain in 9:44. Alex Windsor Jumped Luna after the match and beat her down and dragged her around with a chain, which one would presume is leading to a dog collar match.
The NJPW Dojo graduates Yuto Nakashima and Oskar Leube took on heel duo Mark Trew and Kieron Lacey in a really good little traditional tag bout next. The heels worked over stocky babyface Yuto, before he made the hot tag to his Germanic Skyscraper of a tag partner, who ran wild and they bumped around like crazy for him. After taking Lacey out with a verion of Total Elimination, Leube caught a Trew crossbody attempt, and deadlifted him onto his shoulders, allowing Nakashima to come off the second rope with a jumping knee, and Oskar hit a massive multiple rotation F-5 for the win at 9:25. They announced a UK Fantasticamania show for May 19th before the next match, which was an excellent slugfest between Luke Jacobs and JJ Gale. This was grand hard-hitting violence, with both guys hitting forearms, kicks and suplexes. After Jacobs caught Gale's leg from a roundkick attempt, he captured his arm too and hit a sickening headbutt. JJ scored a nearfall with a flash small package, then got another super close nearfall with his Gale Force spinning Oscutter as the crowd went crazy. Gale missed a 450, before eating a serious of stiff Lariats from Jacobs, which lead to Luke scoring the win at 17:02 with a Steiner Screwdriver. Great stuff here, and I hope we see more from both guys at the top of the card in 2024. Jacobs vowed to win the Revolution Rumble in the post match.
Mustafa Ali took on Robbie X in a very good flippity spot fest next. This was all-action, with a non-stop stream of flying and springboard moves. The finish came when both guys fought in the top, Ali hit a Sunsetbomb off the top, then a match winning 450 Splash to win at the 13:08 mark. Ali looked super happy to be here, and put on a good showing, so I'm under no doubt that he'll do great in New Japan and the Indys, after years of being in wrestling purgatory. Shingo took on Trent Seven next in a match that was made less than 24 hours before they came through the curtain. Originally Takagi was to take on Gabe Kidd (which I would have been all in on as that sounds awesome), but Kidd suffered an undisclosed injurey in the insane Cage Match he was in in Osaka. If I were a betting man though, I'd say it was likely a concussion from that insanely stiff Henare slap he took near the end, not to mention the crazy chairshots. This was ultimately a very decent match, but at 21:58, it was way too long, and it was another of those matches where too much stuff was kicked out of. There was no need to work this like it was a Tokyo Dome main event; Shingo kicked out of a Pump Handle Emerald Flowsion, Trent kicked out of a sitout Burning Hammer, Takagi kicked out of a middle rope Emerald Flowsion, then a short piledriver, Shingo then escaped a Seven Star Lariat and hit a Last of The Dragon... but after a delayed cover Trent kicked out(!). Seven kicked at one from a Sliding Bomber, but ate a few more Pumping Bombers to finally allow Shingo to win. This would likely have been great if it was around 14 minutes, but it outstayed it's welcome a little and they just kicked out of way too much for no reason.
Next up, Anthony Ogogo defeated RKJ in what was by far the weakest match of the night. This was perfectly fine, nothing was bad, the crowd were respectably hot, and RKJ tried his damndest to have a good match, but this ultimately didn't click. Former Olympic Boxer Ogogo scored the win at 13:30 with two great looking punches. Which were the best looking things he'd done all match. What followed was an excellent technical wrestling match, as Zack Sabre Jr. took on Connor Mills, which was my second favourite of the night. This featured exemplary mat work, as both guys exchanged submission holds, with Mills aggressively working over the left leg, and Zack focussing on the left arm. After both failed to tap the other out, frustrations flared and this broke down into a nasty strike battle, with some seriously stiff slaps back and forth. In the end, after Mills kicked out of a Zack Driver, Sabre Jr. turned up the pace and put the younger wrestler away after a series of PK's at the 21:25 mark. Great, great stuff.
Then the Main Event, which was Will Ospreay's RevPro swan song before going fulltime with AEW, and was one of the best matches you'll ever see. I loved their match at High Stakes 2022, but this one was considerably better than that classic, with off the charts drama, heat, storytelling and big fight feel. This was outstanding. The stipulations were that there were no referee stoppages allowed, but if Amira threw in the towel (like she did in their last match), then Oku would lose the title, and Ospreay threw the bloody towel from the forst match at her to use. The crowd were white hot from the off, and neber cooled down once during this epic battle. There was way too much to reasonably recap here, but everything was great. Oku worked over Will's knee in preperation of the Half Crab, but came up bloody from going into the ringpost. Ospreay worked him over, taunting Amira to throw the towel, but she responded by spitting on him, which Ospreay responded by kicking her into the guardrail to loud boos. Oku went crazy with a fiery comeback that included hitting the old El Generico Tornado DDT through the ropes to the floor, which Ospreay juiced from, then locked on the most dramatic Figure Four since Muto/Takada, but Ospreay made the ropes. Will hot the Oscutter for a nearfall, and Oku hit a reverse rana which spiked Ospreay, but as he celebrated, Ospreay popped up and hit a Hidden Blade to the back of the head for the double down. Oku then turned a Storm Breaker attempt into a package tombstone, but missed a Frog Splash. He landed on his feet though and hit Ospreay with his own Hidden Blade. In a callback to their 2022 match, Oku started hitting numerous Hidden Blades, but pulled Ospreay up at two every pin attempt. He tried another but The Ariel Assassin countered with the real deal Hidden Blade. Ospreay hit the flip out of a clothesline into a powerbomb spot, then transitioned into a Styles Clash for a near fall. Amira is dragged into the ring and she pushes Oku out of the way of a Hidden Blade, taking the move herself, leading to Ospreay pushing her unconscious body out of the ring. Oku rolls through another Hidden Blade into the Half Crab, but as he leans back into the bridge, Ospreay pulls him out of it, flips him over and hits a devastating Tiger Driver 91, another Hidden Blade and finally the Storm Breaker, but Oku kicks out at 2.9999, which blows the roof off the National Sports Centre. Oku then turns a Tombstone attempt into a Sega Mega Driver, in tribute to Mad Kurt, finally hits the Frog Splash to the back, goes back up and hits a second to the front, but Ospreay kicks out at the last minute. As he does, Oku grabbed his leg and turned it into the Half Crab as the fans went crazy. Ospreay fought to the ropes, but a revived Amira flipped him off, Oku pulled him to the centre, bridges back, and Ospreay finally tapped at the 47:12 mark, giving Oku the biggest win of his career. This was all brilliant.
In the post match, Ospreay handed Oku the title, symbolically passing the torch, Oku offered the handshake, which was expected, and Ospreay cut an emotional promo to say goodbye to a scene he's invested so much into. He thanked New Japan and RevPro, as well as the fans, for all they've done for him, and he promised his best stuff was still to come. He then said teary fairwells, before nemsis Zack Sabre Jr. appeared at the curtain to give him a hug and a kiss. All in all, this was an excellent show that's well worth checking.

He's my fav Undisputed Kingdom member. <3
Tumblr media
Summary: Matt supports his girlfriend at Dynasty when she challenges Julia for her TBS championship.
Tumblr media
You can hear the buzz of the crowd all the way out in the arena from back in the locker rooms while you're getting ready for your match with Julia. You stare at yourself in the vanity mirror as you brush out your hair, silently hyping yourself up for this upcoming title bout.
"YN? Babe? You decent?" A male voice calls from outside the locker room, and you recognize it as your boyfriends.
"Yeah, all good!" You shout and set your hairbrush down.
You swivel around in your chair as Matt slips into the room, with Mike and Roderick trailing after him. Matt makes a b-line for you with an eager smile on his face. "Wow, your makeup looks great, babe." He compliments you.
"Thanks babe." You giggle. "How did your match with Kyle go, Roddy?" You turn toward Strong as he shuts the door behind him.
"I won, obviously." Roderick flashes his belt to you. "You're about to head out for your match with Julia, right?" He asks you.
You nod and turn back to your vanity so you can put your hair into a nice braid. Matt sits down next to you on the bench and helps by handing you bobby pins when you need them.
"Thanks, babe." You thank Matt once you're done. "Are you coming out with me?" You ask him.
"Sure." Matt nods. "I'd love to be out there with you." He beams. "I can sit at commentary and bother Schiavone and Excalibur about how awesome you are."
You giggle and do one last check in the mirror. "Well, you won't hear me complain." You sling an arm around Matt's back. "Come on. I don't want to be late for my entrance cue."
You and Matt head down to the tunnel backstage. Your entrance music gets played and you head out through the tunnel. Matt lets you have your moment before he silently slinks through the tunnel and heada down the ramp after you.
You walk down to the ring and hop up onto the apron. Matt follows and grins up at you, a proud look in his eyes.
"Kick her ass, baby! You've got this." Matt offers you once last confidence boost before he heads over the commentary tabe. "Gentlemen. Are we ready to crown a new TBS champion?" He asks the commentary table.
"Well we're certainly ready to watch what is sure to be an excellent match between the TBS champion, Julia Hart. And the challenger, YN LN." Excalibur replies.
Matt takes a seat in a chair next to Taz as the lights in the arena dim for Julia's entrance. Matt's eyes train over to you standing in the corner nearest the commentary table. You stare a hole into Julia while you take these last few seconds to stretch out. You know that this match is going to be a grueling one. Neither you, nor Julia, are known for taking it easy in the ring. And this is a title fight. So both of you are ready to put your bodies on the line to win.
The bell rings and the match gets started after Julia makes it to the ring and the lights return to their preset brightness. Matt twitches eagerly in his seat as the two of you start the match with a lock-up.
"YN's got to be the best technical wrestler on the womans roster. Wouldn't you agree, Taz?" He comments as you take Julia down to the mat.
"She's certainly a pro, yes." Taz replies, trying his best to remain unbiased.
Julia manages to make it back to her feet after you attempt to get her into a submission. She weasels her way back to a standing posistion and you join her. The two of you trade some kicks and elbows for a while before Julia hits the ropes and tries for a dropkick.
You roll onto the matt and avoid the dropkick from Julia. The champ hits the mat hard and you scurry over to her and lock-in another submission attempt.
"Ha! Julia should know better than to try and take my girl on the mat!" Matt laughs as the match drags on.
Around 15 minutes go by and you and Julia are still going at it strong. Both of you are starting to feel exhaustion set in, and you both know that this match needs to end sooner rather than later. Desperation hangs in the air and Julia tries for her signature move when she's unsure if she can win clean. The mist.
You lunge toward Julia after bouncing off the ropes and approach her for a spear. As you near her, Julia reels her head back then lets the black mist spray from her mouth. The sticky black liquid hits you in the eyes and you miss your spear. You tumble to the floor outside of the ring and begin pawing at your eyes to clear your impaired vision up.
"Come on, YN! Behind you!" Matt calls out in a shout as Julia stalks toward you while you can't see.
Adrenaline courses through your veins as Matt yells at you. You swing an elbow behind you and it manages to clock Julia in the jaw. Hart crumples to the floor and you paw at your eyes some more.
Suddenly you feel a hand on your arm. You whirl aound with a gasp and prepare to start swinging when Matt speaks up. "It's just me!" Matt catches your arm. "Here! Hold still!" He demands.
You freeze up and wait for Matt to do whatever he's come to help you with. You feel a cold liquid spray into your face followed by a soft cloth rubbing against your face in a wiping motion. Your vision clears up and you find Matt standing in front of you with his shirt in one hand and a half-empty bottle of water in the other.
"There!" Matt smiles to himself and nods to Julia still on the floor nehind you. "Now that you can see again. Go finish this baby."
You nod and turn around toward Julia. You pick Hart up by the base of her hair and toss her back into the ring. Once Julia has rolled to the middle of the ring you quickly slip inside the ring and trap her in a vicious armbar. You wrench back on Julia's arm and the sheer force is enough to get her to tap out.
The bell sounds and you let Julia's arm go with an exhausted sigh. Julia rolls out of the ring and you slowly get to your feet.
You did it. You beat Julia Hart for the TBS championship.
"Yes! She did it!" You hear Matt shouting at the commentary table. "That's my fucking girlfriend!" He cheers as he throws off his headset.
The referee hands you the TBS title, and you raise it high in the air. Seconds later, Matt climbs into the ring and rushes you. He picks you up by the legs and ecitedly lifts you into the air. You laugh and slide down into his arms after a moment. Matt holds you by the hips against his body, and you wrap your legs around his waist for support before crashing your lips to his.
"I knew you'd do it." Matt whispers to you as the crowd all cheers around you.
Matt, Roderick, and Wardlow all file out to the ring and celebrate with you and Matt. Another victory for the Undisputed Kingdom, and a new championship to add to the collection.
The perfect ending to a perfect PLE night in AEW.

Smackdown 24/11/23
Tag Team Edition
Tumblr media
Smackdown revolved around the women’s WarGames match at Survivor Series. Team babyface came out to pump themselves up until Bayley makes an appearance to stir the pot between Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch who still have tension between them. There is also tension within Damage CTRL as Bayley tries to take command on who will face Lynch and Charlotte tonight. Dakoda Kai says it will be Bayley and Asuka teaming for the main event tag match.
The Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles were on the line as Damian Priest/Finn Balor defended against the Street Profits in a pretty good match. The Judgement Day retained thanks to interference from Rhea Ripley. I don’t think it was a good idea to give the loss to Street Profits, but you can’t exactly make The Judgement Day look weak going into such a big match tomorrow. I would have held off on this match until after Survivor Series.
Austin Theory and Grayson Waller wrestled Kevin Owens and LA Knight in rather dull match. Waller hosted the Grayson Waller Effect prior, with Owens as his guest. Instead of Owens appearing, it was Theory dressed as Owen’s. KO came out after, followed by Knight to exchanged words. I don't know where this feud is going as Waller and Theory just end up looking like dorks every week.
Carlito came out to the ring to rant about Santos Escobar in Spanish. Escobar would then retort in Spanish. Both men brawled in a decent segment. Later, it’s revealed that Carlito was injured, and Dragon Lee stepped up to take his place at Survivor Series. This should be a good match.
Pretty Deadly took on the Brawling Brutes AGAIN. This may be the last time as Ridge Holland walked out mid-match. Butch was left alone, but got some offensive in before being defeated.
The main event was alright. Charlotte ending up spearing Asuka who landed on Becky while she had Bayley for the win. Becky got all mad at Charlotte. Bayley took advantage and pinned The Man.
This show did a pretty good job at causing friction in the woman's WarGames match. I'm digging the LWO storyline as well. Everything else was bland. We didn't get any match variety as we saw nothing but tag team bouts. You could watch some highlights rather than watching this whole show which is a bad thing. I should be hooked from start to finish.

On this day, January 20th 1937: Champion boxer Benny Lynch won world title… and the hearts of Scottish fans.
Some sources give the date as 19th, such as it is it never appeared on yesterdays lists, so……..
As he stood triumphantly opposite his opponent after 15 rounds of brutal action, his hand raised in victory, Benny Lynch was declared the undisputed champion of the world.
It was the culmination of an incredible journey, a true rags-to-riches tale that was breathtaking in its speed of ascent. But if the Glasgow boxer’s rise was meteoric, his downfall was as spectacularly swift and sudden.
His Wembley victory over the highly-rated American fighter Small Montana proved he was the true flyweight champion of the world, following a dispute about his status from across the Atlantic. There was no arguing over the identity of the true champion now.
Lynch had lifted the world, European and British flyweight titles 16 months earlier in a bout in Manchester, defeating Jackie Brown in the second round, having already knocked him down eight times in the brief contest. Thousands of fellow Glaswegians greeted him at Central Station on his return home from that defining contest in Manchester, with the crowds lining the streets all the way back to his Gorbals birthplace. The city council chiefs, for some odd reason denied him an official welcome home. It couldn't be because he was the son of an Irish Catholic immigrant could it?
Lynch was brought up in the deprived slums there, the son of Irish immigrants. He was only 5ft 4in and slightly built, but he possessed a power to his punch that belied his frame and he soon began to train at boxing clubs and took part in fights in the fairground booths at nearby Glasgow Green.
He turned professional in 1931 and fought more than 100 bouts in just seven years, an unbelievable statistic when looked at today.
Nine months after his career-defining victory over Montana, 40,000 people turned up at Shawfield Stadium in Glasgow to watch him defend his titles against Peter Kane. Lynch also fought at Anfield in Liverpool, Celtic Park, and the Kelvin Hall.
Benny was box office, but outside of the ring he was soon to be hampered in a way no boxer inside the squared circle could ever manage.
His downfall was the bottle, with Lynch becoming a chronic alcoholic. His training suffered, as did his conditioning and body, and he was soon turning up to bouts too heavy.
He lost his world title on the scales, unable to make the weight for his scheduled bout against Jackie Jurich in June 1938. The bout went ahead without the title at stake – and Lynch won.
But the cracks had long since started to appear and alcohol, combined with money problems and a number of run-ins with the law, took its toll.
His final bout was later that year, when he suffered his only knockout loss. With boxing gone from his life, his speed of deterioration accelerated and he passed away in August 1946, aged just 33.
In scenes similar in size to those that greeted Lynch upon his return home from Manchester as the champion 10 years earlier, but much more sombre in tone, the streets of Glasgow were lined to pay tribute as the funeral cortege passed through.
Forty years after his death, he was named in the Ring Magazine Hall of Fame, and in 1998 he was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
His boxing legacy has withstood the test of time and he is often named in lists of the greatest boxers of all time, and has influenced the Scottish world champions who have come after him, as he memorably led the way.

Universal Cross Wrestling (Year 1, Month 2)
------------------------------
Starrcade
------------------------------
UCW's first official pay-per-view goes live in a sold out arena hailing within Philadelphia, and begins with the first round in the UCW Tag Team Championship tournament; pitting Johnny Gargano and Austin Theory of The Way up against Wes Lee and Nash Carter of MSK. All four competitors showcase their fast paced and strike centric style of wrestling which sets them at a stalemate until the closing moments--seeing Gargano and Theory defeat the young stars in convincing fashion.
Next up, Pete Dunne and Antonio Cesaro threaten to tear the house down with a long and intense submission match that pushes both men as far as they can take themselves until one of them is champion. Though Cesaro has a higher level of prowess in the vein of strikes and longevity, Dunne is able to both outpower and outlast his opponent until he puts him to sleep with a dragon sleeper; crowning himself as UCW's first ever Submission Champion.
Karrion Kross makes his presence known leading into the third match of the night, calling out anybody and everybody currently in the locker room to come face him for his Openweight Championship. The person who answers his challenge? Raubahn; conqueror of the beast and leader of the Immortal Flames. Both Raubahn and Kross truck through each other with neither of them showing any signs of stopping, putting everything they have into their fists and heads while trading brutal blows from beginning to end.
Eventually, Kross is able to tire out Raubahn and uses his overwhelming strength to beat the man down to a definitive pinfall--retaining the Openweight Championship at his first pay-per-view showing. After the bout however, Brock Lesnar emerges with fire in his eyes and brutally attacks Raubahn after the match; putting him through not one, but two announcers tables with two consecutive F-5's and shelving him with two broken ribs.
Bianca Belair and Y'shtola Rhul meet in the ring ahead of their contest, giving everyone in attendance the clear cut match of the night in a 30 minute clinic for the Women's Championship. Both women showcase their varying styles of wrestling in the time they have, and in that time, Bianca is able to defeat Y'shtola by pinfall and remains champion--shaking her hand and congratulating her as well after the fact.
Roman Reigns and Ardbert put everything on the line heading into the 5th match of the pay-per-view, both men tearing each other apart from bell to bell in a ruthless showing of their absolute power. From kendo sticks to chairs to tables to straps to brass knuckles, the Tribal Chief and the Warrior of Darkness bludgeon each other in a brutal contest lasting upwards to 20 minutes; ending with Roman Reigns spearing Ardbert through a barricade and defeating him by way of referee stoppage.
With Triple H and William Regal watching by ringside, AJ Styles and Kevin Owens face off in an absolute classic to crown UCW's first ever Undisputed Champion. Reminiscent of their matches in the past, Kevin's style of brawling and stiff strikes mixed with AJ's natural athleticism puts them at odds in a 20 minute ringer with AJ ultimately coming out as the victor and new UCW Undisputed Champion.
Finally, to end the pay-per-view and decide the fate of the UCW World Championship, Nene and Hank face off in a historic bout that pushes the both of them to their very limits clocking in at just under a half hour. When it seems like Nene is on the cusp of having that title in her hands though, Sanford and Deimos assist their friend from behind the referee's back and help Hank defeat the girl in a convincing but unfair fashion. It is then that Sky appears from out of nowhere and lays waste to the three of them easily, attacking Nene as well before escaping through the crowd to end the night.
------------------------------
Post-Starrcade
------------------------------
Two days after UCW's first official pay-per-view, UCW Blackout's 2nd full month goes live in Brooklyn with the first show of the month being just 48 hours removed from an eventful and epic Starrcade. The show begins with a championship coronation held by Triple H and William Regal that sees AJ Styles, Pete Dunne, and Karrion Kross all come down to the ring and celebrate their championship wins and defenses amongst the General Managers.
Hank is then called down to end the ceremony with a direct announcement as to who his next opponent for the World Championship will be; that being the newly debuting but very well known superstar of Adam Cole. However, Nene also makes her presence known with demands for a rematch against the World Champion--prompting Triple H to book a match between her and Adam Cole to decide a number #1 contender on the go-home show before UCW's next pay-per-view, No Mercy.
Sky is seen backstage speaking to Tricky on the topic of her arrival in UCW. The two lament on their friendship and the fact that the both of them-one from Hank and the other from Nene-have targets on their backs that have completely changed their lives for better and for worse.
Sky speaks on how when she first appeared in the Newgrounds universe, she was seen as nothing more than an obsessive waste of space by everyone besides Tricky who genuinely made an effort to be her friend, and when she decided to leave to try and reevaluate herself, she saw how people like Whitty, Zardy, and Ruv had grown be known as pioneers and megastars solely through their own dominating strength while away.
Sky then decided to take it upon herself to follow in their footsteps, and despite going against Tricky's warnings, seeks to use her own newfound strength to cut a path through UCW and show the world what she's capable of--starting with Nene and ending with the UCW champion.
The second round of the UCW Tag Team Championship tournament gets underway as reDRagon faces off against the debuting FTR to decide who will face The Way in the tournaments semi-finals. Between FTR's old school and physicality based style and reDRagon's more strike oriented and fast paced wrestling, reDRagon are able to outsmart the Revolt and come out on top to advance in the tournament.
The Tag Team Championship tournament's third round pits Black Void against the Usos to determine who faces either the Street Profits or Top Guys in the semi-finals. Though they are easily outmatched in power by Top Guys, the Usos use their synergy and teamwork to put them away in the end; sending the brothers further into the second half of the tournament.
William Regal announces that a Battle Royal will be held to decide who will face Bianca Belair at No Mercy for the UCW Women's Championship. The BR itself introduces new and old icons of women's wrestling to the crowd, and ends with both Io Shirai and Toni Storm hitting the outside at the exact same time--prompting Regal to make the match at No Mercy a triple threat match for the Women's Championship.
Roman Reigns cuts a promo from a dimly lit room backstage that details his history as a leader; from his time in NXT as a dough-rolling businessman to one of the three hounds of justice that made up the Shield, he reflects on his time in the limelight amongst those who followed him and compares those times to that of Ardbert's achievements. A supposed hero across two separate worlds that still failed to put him away is no hero at all in Roman's own words, and with the Warrior of Darkness himself out of action because of Roman Reigns, the Tribal Chief opts to turn his attention to someone who reminds him of himself--Karrion Kross and the Openweight Championship. Kross accepts this challenge later in the show, and Triple H makes it official for No Mercy.
Pete Dunne has a sit-down interview with ring announcer Justin Roberts following his win over Cesaro, an interview in which the bruiserweight claims to Triple H that the only people in UCW who have any prowess as submission specialists are either gone or have been already beaten by him. He states that he knows that his run as Submission Champion is just beginning, but by the look of UCW's roster and the names that catch his eye, Pete only sees one man who would even come close to his level and acknowledges that he isn't here either; that is until the man himself, Daniel Bryan, comes face to face with Dunne and throws out the challenge right there, which Dunne accepts.
———— Mid-Month Break ————
A Six Pack Challenge is held to determine who will face AJ Styles for the Undisputed Championship at No Mercy. This match consists of G'raha Tia, Tricky, Drew McIntyre, Papalymo, Thancred, Pico, and Darnell. Though the match goes on for an over-the-top and chaotic 20 minutes, the winner is decided when Darnell assists Pico in pinning Thancred to win an opportunity at AJ Styles. As for Darnell himself, he states to his friend that this is an opportunity made for Pico--Darnell has his own business to take care of.
The fourth round of the UCW Tag Team Championship tournament sees the Street Profits go two-on-two against Top Guys to see which of the two teams will face the Usos in the semi-finals. In the end, Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins use their mixture of high flying and heavy hitting wrestling styles to outpower and outspeed Top Guys to a victory and a match against the Usos.
The UCW Tag Team Championship tournament's fifth round takes the tourney into its semi-final bracket, opening up with The Way facing off against reDRagon in an extremely technical and fast-paced clinic of a match. After 20 minutes of a consistently back and forth contest, The Way are able to use their resilience to run reDRagon dry of energy and defeat them to move on to the finals.
The sixth round in the Tag Team Championship tournament pits The Usos against the Street Profits in a match that blows the entire tournament out of the water. A nearly 30 minute instant classic of high-octane never slowing down action that sees both teams give their all in the vein of teamwork, synergy, and heart for a chance at the titles, the Usos are just narrowly capable of defeating the Profits and securing their spot in the finals.
The UCW Tag Team Championship tournament finishes with a bang: a 20 minute, always moving spot-fest between the Usos and The Way that sees both teams push themselves to their absolute limits both in desperation and courage for a shot at the Tag Team titles. Despite the efforts of the Way, however, the Usos defeat Johnny Gargano and Austin Theory in convincing fashion and come face to face with Sanford and Deimos as their match and title shot are locked in for No Mercy. By request of the Tag Team champions though, that match will take place as UCW's first ever ladder match for the Championships.
On the last episode of Blackout before No Mercy, Adam Cole makes his in-ring debut against Nene in a #1 Contender's match for Hank's UCW World Championship. The two of them absolutely bludgeon each other in a half hour long showcase of Cole's patented wrestling ability and Nene's hunger for another chance at the title. Sanford and Deimos make an attempt to get involved on the behalf of Hank late in the match, but are stopped by Darnell who even gets into a scuffle with Sky on the entrance ramp once the Tag Team champions are taken care of.
Darnell's involvement however throws Nene off just enough for Adam Cole to take advantage, spiking Nene with a Panama Sunrise and finishing her off with the Last Shot to secure a match with Hank in the main event of No Mercy. As a result, Nene demands a match against Sky at No Mercy from Regal and has her wish granted; stating that if Sky has a hit list all to show the world that she means business, then she better be prepared for her newly found enemies to fire back in the match that will be, by Nene's request, an Ironman match.

A Few Pro Wrestling Matches from 2022 (in chronological order) ((this post is long , sorry))
Tumblr media
{4.75 stars & The Beautiful Excess award}
Just 3 weeks after having a legitimately perfect 1-hour match, they have to follow it up with something that matches their previous brilliance without being too similar. The easy solution was to further the game of one-upmanship present in their first encounter but with half the length. Main difference here is that the challenge Danielson presented to Adam Page went from "can you keep up with me, champ?" to "can you handle me headbutting you for 10 actual minutes?" Yeah, it's probably not a great idea for Bryan Danielson, owner of prowres' most valuable brain since Bobby Heenan, to engage in vicious head-based offense... but I guess he was fine. Who are we to question The American Dolphin?
-------------
Tumblr media
{4.5 stars & The Overcoming All Odds award}
Adam Page was AEW's best world champion and I doubt I'll change my mind until we see a champion come out on top in a manner as bonkers as this. You've probably seen a few deathmatches this year? I've only seen a few throughout the year. No single ultraviolent spot made me react the way Adam Page bouncing off the stairs and landing chin first against the ring post made me react. One thing I've slightly overlooked is how Lance Archer, for one more night, got to be a fucking star. It's a shame he didn't carry this momentum for much of the year.

Tumblr media
{4.25 stars & The King's Road Triumph award}
When Y2J lost the AEW title in 2020 it seemed to me that he would be closing the in-ring chapter of his career within 2 or 3 years. I was verrry wrong. He's had the best prowres year of his life as far as I'm concerned. I have a cynical tendency to hold Chris Jericho to the standards that both he and his fans insist he is at. A fair 75% of the time, he misses the mark that I would expect from a candidate for 'Greatest Of All Time'. This is one of the exceptions where he really hit a home run. The aforementioned cynic in me wants to hand it ALL to Eddie Kingston, but that wouldn't be fair. Jericho helped set up the dramatic heights of the bout just as much as Kingston helped in executing them. It was one of the closest 'duo-minded' matches you could see all year. I imagine both guys shared only a quick glance before walking to the ring, both knowing exactly how the match was gonna go.

Tumblr media
{5 stars & The Most Cathartic award}
I simply cannot do this justice in such few words. The feud between Punk and MJF was magical television. Every week was a highlight of ALL wrestlingI watched this year. Punk's promo where he invites Max to be. his. valentine. Followed of course by Friedman's promo where he reveals his 'origin story' of sorts, which is the undisputed best promo he's ever done. The feud was nothing too complex in the grand scheme of things, it's a grizzled veteran vs confident young guy story at its core... But it means a lot more to a gal like me who knows CM Punk's history. Someone who watched Punk as a kid and began to wonder what he was doing before he was in WWE. Learning about Punk's pre-WWE days invited me to find more Ring Of Honor matches online which inevitably led me to everything they had to offer. I found more about the American indies, I found New Japan and Pro Wrestling NOAH, I found my niche. And I can personally trace it all back to the time I learned that CM Punk pinned Austin Aries and then told a fable about an old man and a snake.
.....
The match was pretty good too!
Acute satisfaction came from seeing MJF finally get his comeuppance by way of a flatback bump into thumbtacks. Thanks Wardlow, you sexy man!

Tumblr media
{4.25 stars & The Better Than BOLA award}
(No, i didn't only watch AEW this year) Every couple of years in pro wrestling you find that one. The one who just ticks all the boxes. "Speedball" Mike Bailey is that one for me. They just know how it all works. Couple them with someone who also happens to tick all those boxes and you get this match. These two had had a match for 2022's Battle of Los Angeles tournament, which was fine but I felt it went a bit longer than needed. Well I thought it did, but it turns out this match here is only 4 minutes shorter than their PWG match. The difference is night and day, although some of the moments are carried directly from that initial match. It's just a much better execution for the most part.
-------------
Tumblr media
{4.5 stars & The Comedy Bullshit Award}
I love Jackass. I love Sami Zayn. You'd expect this to be an incompatible pairing, considering how explicit all of Jackass' content is, but the easy workaround is to have this match work as a straightforward comedy match rather than anything exceedingly violent. Let's not kid ourselves now, in what world would it be a good idea for Johnny Knoxville to have a legitimate pro wrestling match? He's had more concussions than Mick Foley. The action is as competent as a WWE prop-comedy scene could've been. If it were Johnny Knoxville with anybody else then it wouldn't be on the list. Samuel Zayn is the patron saint of giving a hundred and ten percent.
-------------
Tumblr media
{4.25 stars & The Bleedin' Gums award}
There are few ways to genuinely shine on TV when you've come up through the independents, even in AEW's world. Most of the time, crowds are familiar enough with a talent so that they don't have to establish much more about themselves that isn't able to be seen online. Wheeler YUTA took things a step forward by not resting on his laurels and instead finding a new way to stand out. In this case, he gets promptly massacred by Jon Moxley. The amount of blood that flows from YUTA's head could fill a pool. The one moment where he's face-up on the outside, face fully coloured in red, the money shot for Wheeler if there could've been one. Mox don't slouch either, he puts up one of his best performances all year and that's saying a lot. The speed when he starts hitting those Hammer&Anvil Elbows is remarkable.
-------------
Tumblr media
{4.25 stars & The Denzel Washington award}
This fight is a cult underground jazz record that was only on vinyl for 20 years and then inexplicably found its way to streaming after some weirdo celebrity found it and loved it. I feel it aimless to analyse this match as a match, since it's portrayed as a gang fight that just so happens to be in front of a crowd. We get a lot of wild moments throughout, my personal favourite being when Danny Garcia hits a Piledriver onto Ortiz or Santana from the apron onto stairs immediately after J.R says "Stop posing to the crowd, nobody's looking!" I could list off all the cool moments but I'm more inclined to praise Eddie Kingston for a bit. How is it possible for someone to feel so genuine when they are trying to light a man on fire while covered head to toe in another man's blood? I'd like to stop for another second to show love to the owner of that blood, "Daddy Magic" Matt Menard. This fuckin guy bled like a Funk Brother and then covered himself in mustard with those cuts still fresh. What a madman.
-------------
Tumblr media
{4.75 stars & The Best Sequel award}
yeahyeahyeah I know The Briscoes ain't the most jam-up guys in prowres, but they can still craft a fantastic match when they need to. FTR are unfortunately in this negative space with fans right now, because Dax Harwood (FTR Bald) is being outspoken about things that aren't exactly popular or fun to talk about. I don't know why Cash Wheeler (FTR Not Bald) is getting flack too but that's only because I imagine when Dax isn't around him, he de-spawns from the area like a video game NPC. My point is that these two teams made some magic with this match despite their inherent flaws as teams and as personalities. Perhaps a bit of length could be cut and perhaps a hope spot or two could be removed, but dammit this is the kind of pulpy, high-stakes tag team wrestling I adore. Plus I just love the 2/3 Falls stipulation. That was a big bonus for me. (btw their first and third matches are great too but i like this one more)
-------------
Tumblr media
{4.5 stars & The Marvel Movie award}
This match was unstable. (that's a joke) Imagine the unsubtle and overproduced fighting in a Marvel Movie action scene and now imagine that being applied within the confines of a wrestling ring and voila you have this match. WWE have this weird thing where they have main events for the world title feel complacent in their content. Roman is able to have a good/watchable match but only when he's with someone that he's wrestled before. He and Brock "Punches Moons Into Smaller Moons" Lesnar have had some stinkin' rotten no-good bouts before, just look at their match at WrestleMania this year! There was no optimism from me nor my pals, whom I watched SummerSlam with, that this match would be worth a damn. ... But then the tractor came out and the match shot from a solid 3.5 star snooze right to a 4.25 classic. ...... Then Austin Theory (yuck) got his SHIT ROCKED and it went up another quarter. Sometimes it's worth giving the benefit of the doubt. You may just turn the night around in your favour.
-------------
Tumblr media
{4.25 stars & Loud As F**K award}
I knew this match was good when Starlight Kid no-sold a Butterfly Suplex from the top and I had no qualms about it. This match is a sleeper hit that comes right in the middle of a round robin tournament where nobody expects it. Fast-paced and hard-hitting, two very common attributes for this promotion's best matches but quite bloody apt in this case. There's one bit where I swear Giulia's elbow pops out of place with how hard she swung it at SLK's jaw. It's no wonder both these wrestlers are my favs in all of STARDOM when they're this captivating in such a "throwaway" match during a Round Robin tournament.
-------------
Tumblr media
{4.25 stars & The Welsh Irish Pride award} This match is how to show you appreciation to the long-time star in Sheamus. Let him wrestle someone with no restrictions. Nothing but the hardest of hits and amplest of steps taken to get those hits in. This match is subtle for the longest time, waiting for a right moment for Gunther to get ruthless. If this were to be Big Gunth vs anybody else then it would probably open with one of his trademark CHOPS (in all caps), but they play it coy and they don't have Gunther hit Sheamus with a CHOP until a good few minutes in. And only from there do things escalate. The crowning moment being when Sheamus drops Gunther with the High Cross. A move that is always in Sheamus' moveset in the video games but one i've not seen him use since maybe 2011. If Sheamus' legend status in WWE was in question before this match, then that debate was taken out back and kicked up the backside after the crowd's standing ovation.
-------------
Tumblr media
{4.5 stars & The Bloody Tears award}
When it comes to deathmatches, I like to see men willingly bleed in pursuit of money and glory. Jun Kasai is one such man who has legitimately done that for 20 years. Look at his back and you'll see the shell of a tortoise. El Desperado is a New Japan star who I, admittedly, held in little regard beforehand but now i think i want to see this man succeed in every way possible. Jun Kasai is comparable only to a decrepit deity with aspirations for mayhem and reverence for suffering. He takes all the worst ideas for wrestling moves and then makes them more brutal, for a random example imagine a Canadian Destroyer. Right, you've seen one of those before? Picture that move off the top rope now. "Actually let's amp it up a bit and let's add a Double Underhook so then Despy can't protect his head on impact." Oh! Okay then Mr. Kasai. "Let's also add a stack of chairs so the aforementioned impact is a smidge more painful." Whatever you say! "That ain't the end of the match by the way." Fine by me! Don't stab me, sir!! It's a madman's match for sure. It also gets a bit sentimental during the end-match promo, but i must declare that I was a little distracted that point because i had seen the best deathmatch of my damn life. ------------- That's my list! I hope you'll want to watch some wrestling now. - Rhlgull

#whathot #djblaze #onthewatch It’s All About @serranosisters vs @erikacruz985 #fightnight #boxing #serranocruz Blaze-These two warriors made the Main Event worth every penny earned that night. Them two Champions knew exactly what was at stake and wasted no time asserting themselves right from the first bell.Heavy bombs were being dropped from both combatants standing toe to toe and tightly knit with neither opponent showing signs of backing off. However, Amanda was slicker with her movements – boxing and dodging avoiding the onslaught coming her way. With both combatants exchanging leather in the phone booth style a clash of heads occurred in the third round causing a deep cut on the forehead of Erika but still did not deter her from continuing to drop bombs at every opportunity Amanda looked good and strong as the rounds progressed. She boxed and moved beautifully while keeping busy with her hands and landing some serious leather. That said Erika’s own shots did get through and eventually cut Amanda on the forehead making the bout that more interesting. In the championship rounds Amanda showed her superiority and special skill set by out landing and outworking Erika to the punch. Erika showed crazy toughness, refusing to let the blood dripping in her eyes deter her from the task at hand. After 10 fully contested rounds of action, the Judges at hand scored it 98-92, 98-92 and 97-93 unanimously for Amanda Serrano. With this win Amanda collected the WBA Super Featherweight Belt from Erika and retained her IBF/IBO/WBC/WBO/Ring Magazine Featherweight Championship Titles to now being crowned the first man or woman from Puerto Rico to become Undisputed IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC/WBO/Ring Magazine Featherweight Champion of the World. Now that’s “The Real Deal”. Congratulations Amanda on this historical achievement – well-deserved. 🔥👆🏿🥊 #soundtrackoftheday #hiphop #rnb #music 🎶🔊🎶🔥👉🏿Blazinone.com For All The #boxingfans #basketball #sports #fans #cigar #smokers #musiclovers #pressplay 🔊🎶🔥Enjoy the #sundayvibes #blazinones https://www.instagram.com/p/CoSmAZ3OpyG/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Going to elaborate more on how the tournaments work
The stick fight tournaments are professional sanctioned bouts where 2 sticks compete head to head for the entertainment of others, think of boxing or mma. The fighters in question can either he bound sticks who have no choice or ones who do it on their own free will.
There is alot of money to be made SFC (stick fighting championship) but bound sticks usually never see a dime of it, being second class citizens and all, as the money goes to their creators and trainers.
I myself used to do boxing for many years, so I modeled alot of the rules for the SFC from the rules of boxing.
The fight goes up to 16 rounds normally, each round being 3 minutes with one minute of rest in between each round, during the rest each fighter goes to their side of the arena to be seen to by their corner. A corner is NOT allowed to heal their fighter, doing so is punishable by disqualification, however if their fighter is cut on the face or swelling, they can take steps to reduce bleeding and bring swelling down, this is legal.
There are weight classes, from featherweight all the way to heavyweight, however there is only one champion (called the undisputed champion) per weight class, meaning the best will always fight the best.
As I said before, fighters tend to stay busy which means they fight ALOT. Although these "stay-busy" fights aren't always against the best competition, it helps gain experience and expertise against certain types of opponents. It isn't too uncommon to see fighters with hundreds of fights.
Each weight class has a list of top contenders, from the highest rated being #1 to the lowest being #10, however these contenders are rated by the OSFC, not by the fans. The champ can pick and choose any of these contenders to give a title shot.
The rules during a bout are similar to boxing, it's a large arena littered with rocks and boulders and it has a barrier in the sky so battles in the air don't surpass it. The basic rules range from not hitting below the belt or hitting on the back of the head.
Punches and kicks are allowed, in certain sanctions grappling is allowed also, but both corners need to agree. Clinching is also allowed but the referee must break these up if both fighters are unable to fight from the clinch.
Weapons are not allowed save for the ones that are exclusive to a sticks respective power. For example, if a sticks power is to summon blades from their arms, this is legal. There are sanctioned bouts which allow weapons but, like grappling, both corners need to agree.
The round system changes during a championship match (a match where the title is on the line) where instead of 16 rounds, it is changed to 20 rounds, with the last 4 rounds being reffered to as the "championship rounds"
There are 3 judges to score a fight, should the fight ever go the distance. They're supposed to score rounds based on clean hits, who seems to be hurting who and effective aggression. However, many judges are biased or corrupt, leading to many robberies...our dear friend MT will get real intimate with the term "robbery"
The referee has powers as well, they are evaluated by the commission to ensure that they're capable of not only keeping the fighters safe, but also themselves since battles can and will get very chaotic. The ref has the power to stop a fight if they feel a fighter is taking too much punishment during a bout, however there are some that allow a beating to continue (more on tha later) leading to deaths in the arena.
If a fighter is knocked down, the fighter who is still standing will be asked to back away a good distance by the ref while he starts the 10 count on the other. Should the fighter get up before the count of 10, they will be quickly evaluated by the ref before being allowed to continue. However, should the fighter not get up before a count of 10, or if they don't respond to the refs evaluation after getting up, they will be counted as having been knocked out.
Aside from punches, kicks and occasional grappling, sticks are also allowed to use their powers (they must be evaluated by the commission before being allowed to turn professional) however, these are limited to physical attacks ONLY. Any attack on the psyche of the other fighter will result in a disqualification and will be reffered to the commission where an offender may be banned from participating in the tournaments. To detect this, there must first be reasonable suspicion which is why refs need to be trained to look for sudden changes in behavior. If the ref suspects it, they will have an analyst come and analyze the fighters psychological patterns.
Flight is allowed, even if one cannot fly while the other can. Battles in the air are very common and are actually encouraged by the commissions and fans alike.
That's pretty much all for now, I've come up with a name for this AU; the USFC or the Ultimate Stick Fighting Championship.

Interim AEW Champion - Who Will It Be? (And Who it Should Be)
Tumblr media
Injuries suck, and sadly injury has knocked on the AEW World Champion's door. Sadly, CM Punk's injury makes him unable to compete until he's healed from surgery, so AEW have a pickle: someone needs to face Tanahashi.
The plan as we can see is to pit Tanahashi against the winner of Moxley (No. 1 ranked) and the winner of Wednesday's battle royale. The winner at Forbidden Door will be the Interim AEW World Champion. AEW has a large roster of potential world champions, but who should be the one to leave Forbidden Door as champion?
Jon Moxley Obviously, the top ranked competitor has the advantage. Not only is he an experienced champion but he already has been feuding with Tanahashi in NJPW, being champion with a crowd too is owed for Moxley.
Wardlow The War Dog is over like rover and number 2 in the rankings, running high on a Goldberg-like push. Putting over the younger powerhouse would certainly be something up AEW's alley, as well as something Punk'd approve of since he claimed Wardlow was who beat him in Chicago.
Bryan Danielson Danielson's two bouts for the AEW World Championship have both been classics, and there was still a lot more untapped with him and Moxley going at it. The Best Professional Wrestler will of course be someone to consider for the world title.
PAC The Bastard hasn't had the most fruitful time in AEW, thanks a lot in part to COVID's travel restrictions but also because the House of Black continue to undo his faction of Death Triangle. But having PAC as world champion would be solid course correction, you cannot doubt his athleticism and talent, let alone his promo skills, and as his heelish tweener role he'd be a great foil for consummate babyface Tanahashi.
Miro God's favourite champion is back, and while people fancied him taking back the TNT title, why not go bigger? Miro proved as TNT champion to be dominant in the ring but able to carry a compelling narrative, people will love to see it.
Malakai Black Malakai Black is coming off strong having defeated Death Triangle, with Julia also recruited the House of Back is established as a powerful and dominant unit, and someone of Black's talents could certainly run as world champion against Tanahashi and a unification feud with Punk.
Adam Cole As winner of the Owen, Adam Cole is definitely someone who can stake a claim. As a champion around the globe, Cole can lead another Undisputed Expedition of Gold to follow up what seems to be the Young Bucks making another claim for the tag titles. You'll get good matches and a charismatic champion, so there's little to go wrong.
'Hangman' Adam Page We must of course consider the one Punk beat as well. Page getting the title back would tell an interesting story given how he lost it after almost falling to darkness. Would a slow heel turn brew from Hangman getting back his prize? And keeping it by any means necessary?
Andrade El Idolo Andrade has recently formed an alliance with RUSH again in hopes of gaining more wins in AEW, people were high on him winning the TNT title but like Miro, why not go further? He's still super talented and charismatic, and while feuding with LIJ would be an ideal Forbidden Door spot for him and RUSH, being world champion may be something more intriguing to El Idolo...so long as it doesn't disrupt his honeymoon of course.
Hiroshi Tanahashi Since a new champion is to be crowned at Forbidden Door we cannot rule out the opponent. What a closer it would be for Forbidden Door for someone to become champion from it? Nobody has yet to do it with AEW's championships at least, so a surprise could be on the card for the Ace of New Japan to take AEW's biggest championship.
KENTA In that same vein though, KENTA was perhaps the first to break through the Forbidden Door between AEW and NJPW, when he attacked Jon Moxley as part of their IWGP US Championship feud but also to help Kenny Omega in his feud with Moxley. The pieces line up well, but also since his initial bout was rejected, KENTA as champion could force Punk's hand with the inevitable dream match and Battle of the GTS.
But it Should Be: MJF While we can all speculate the others to be good champions, for my mind and money the only option can be MJF.
Now granted, this does go with the premise that his promo and removal of the Roster page is a work, but it could also be a spectacular work. Imagine if you would that Shawn Spears seemingly enters the battle royale, and when an over with the crowd winner looks to have won Spears eliminates them, following up that he was never actually in the Battle Royale, but was there to support who was actually in it: MJF. By having him blindside and beat Moxley (perhaps with JAS shenanigans too because this did put a wrench in Blood and Guts plans) we have a perfect situation of Tanahashi the Face and MJF the Heel. But then to have MJF win it would produce ungodly amount of heat, which AEW could use to pose the narrative of MJF holding the AEW World Championship hostage in order to meet his wild and selfish demands; pay rises, giving his allies title shots, keeping the diamond ring, revoking Shawn Dean's wins against him, forbidding anyone he's beaten from challenging for the title. What's more, we could have him think that last point will keep him away from Punk, only for the loophole to be that MJF is actually challenging for Punk's title since he's the interim, but then also win the unification bout.
We can talk all we want about who would make a good champion, but the most compelling story right now would be for the Devil to have his Due.

Taylor vs. Serrano 2 will be the co-main event of Paul vs. Tyson at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, with their rematch to be contested for the undisputed super lightweight championship as Taylor puts all her super lightweight belts on the line
Pound-for-pound stars Taylor and Serrano previously made history as the first-ever female fighters to headline Madison Square Garden, a bout that garnered both fighters global acclaim and earned the pair the distinction of Sports Illustrated’s Fight of the Year and The Ring’s Event of the Year in 2022
Netflix and Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) today announced that after two years, Matchroom’s undisputed super lightweight world champion Katie Taylor (23-1, 6 KOs), will step back in the ring for the most anticipated rematch in women’s boxing history against boxing trailblazer and unified featherweight champion Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano (46-2-1, 30 KOs). Taylor vs. Serrano 2 will stream live globally, exclusively on Netflix on Saturday, July 20, 2024 from the 80,000-seat capacity AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys.
Taylor vs. Serrano 2 will be the co-main event to the recently announced heavyweight match between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson as part of Netflix and MVP’s first-ever partnership. This will mark Taylor and Serrano’s long-awaited rematch following their historic bout at Madison Square Garden in 2022, where they made history as the first ever women fighters to headline an event in the iconic venue’s history. The bout ended in a narrow split decision in favor of Taylor and garnered global acclaim for both fighters earning Sports Illustrated’s Fight of the Year and The Ring’s Event of the Year for 2022. Taylor vs. Serrano was also nominated for Sports Business Journal’s Event of the Year, a testament to the global reach and power of the event. The rematch between the ESPN-ranked pound-for-pound powerhouses, #2 Taylor and #3 Serrano, will be contested for the undisputed super lightweight championship marking a jump of three weight classes from Serrano’s normal featherweight division as Taylor puts all her super lightweight belts on the line. The women’s undisputed megafight will be contested across 10, two-minute rounds, Serrano’s only break from fighting 12x3, the men’s championship standard, for the remainder of her career. Paul vs. Tyson and Taylor vs. Serrano 2 is anticipated to be the biggest boxing event in modern history, and fans can sign up for presale ticket access at mostvaluablepromotions.com.
Irish sensation Katie Taylor once again reaches for greatness as she meets Amanda Serrano in a rematch – with Taylor looking to add another remarkable chapter to her incredible boxing career as she defends her undisputed Super-Lightweight title. Taylor defeated Serrano at a sold-out Madison Square Garden in April 2022 in a stunning fight of the year contest that saw Taylor successfully defend the undisputed Lightweight title that she won in the same arena in June 2019 against Belgian Delfina Persoon. Taylor became a two-weight undisputed champion in her last outing in November, overcoming Chantelle Cameron in a rematch of their closely fought battle in April, with both fights taking place at a sold-out 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland. She first got her hands on world honors in her seventh pro fight, claiming the vacant WBA Lightweight title in Cardiff against Anahi Sanchez in October 2017, and has been in 17 straight world title contests since that night en-route to becoming a two-weight undisputed ruler.
"This is the rematch the world has wanted to see and I’m delighted that it’s finally happening,” said Katie Taylor. “The first fight in New York was obviously an epic occasion and it more than lived up to the billing, and I’m sure the rematch will be no different. I want to thank Matchroom and DAZN for their help in making the fight possible and I’m looking forward to defending my titles as Undisputed World Champion in Dallas on Saturday, July 20.”
Amanda Serrano, the first-ever Puerto Rican undisputed world champion and seven-division world champion, started her current featherweight title reign by defeating Heather Hardy in a brutal 10-round fight in 2019 to win the WBO belt, and has since defended her WBO belt six times. Serrano offered Hardy a chance at redemption in August 2023, but successfully defended her undisputed featherweight world champion title for the first time in a decisive 10 round unanimous decision victory. Serrano also won a blood-soaked war against WBA featherweight champion Erika Cruz in February 2023, which made her the undisputed featherweight champion. Serrano’s decisive win against Cruz followed her previous win over Sarah Mahfoud in Manchester, England that added the Dane’s IBF title to her WBO, WBC, and IBO featherweight belts. Most recently, Serrano took home a unanimous decision victory against her mandatory WBO challenger Danila Ramos, making history in the first-ever women’s unified world championship to be fought over 12, three-minute rounds, equal to any men’s championship fight, and marking the first time a women’s fight has gone the full 12x3. Serrano threw a career high 1,103 punches in the bout. In a true commitment to change for women’s boxing, Serrano recently vacated her WBC title, as the sanctioning body does not support women’s choice for 12x3. Serrano, whose natural weight is 126 pounds, now steps up to super lightweight to face Taylor for the second time, aiming to add the Irish fighter’s belts to her current featherweight hardware in what would be a championship in her eighth weight class.
“I promised my fans they would see this rematch after we made history at MSG and it feels like a dream come true to know that Katie and I are finally making it happen on the biggest stage possible to show the world what elite women’s boxing is all about,” said Amanda Serrano. “While my focus continues to be on giving women the choice to fight with the same rules as men, I’ve always said that this is the one fight I’d go back to 10x2 for if that’s what Katie wanted. I’m coming for her belts, she wants 10x2, so that’s what we will do. I believe I won our first fight, but I didn’t get the decision, so this time I’m not leaving it to the judges. I am honored to share this iconic MVP card in the biggest stadium, on the biggest streaming platform in the world. Thank you Nakisa, Jake, Mike and Netflix for making this happen. And to all the young girls and women watching, I want you to know that anything is possible. Keep dreaming, keep working hard, and never let anyone tell you otherwise. It took me 15 years of blood, sweat and tears to get here, but it’s all worth it because I’m living my dreams.”
Taylor vs. Serrano 2 marks the latest in MVP’s series of significant women’s championship fights as the company works to establish equity across the sport. The event follows Amanda Serrano’s first-ever 12x3 unified championship fight vs. challenger Danila Ramos in October and the Paul vs. August special championship feature of MVP’s Shadasia “The Sweet Terminator” Green vs. Franchón Crews-Dezurn for the WBC and WBA super middleweight world titles.
“When we announced Paul vs. Tyson, we stated that this would be the most-watched boxing event in modern boxing history and we’re here to deliver on a card worthy of that greatness,” said Nakisa Bidarian and Jake Paul, co-founders of Most Valuable Promotions. “Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor have proven they are two of the biggest names in the sport, male or female and their rematch is one of the biggest fights in boxing, so it’s only fitting for them to be a part of this massive global event. Anyone who witnessed their first battle knows the unforgettable atmosphere and performance Amanda and Katie bring when they step into the ring together,and this is sure to be a fight of the year contender again. Bringing attention to women’s boxing has always been a priority for MVP and we are thrilled to give the world’s most-anticipated women’s boxing fight ever a crowning moment on Netflix. Thank you to Matchroom and DAZN for working with MVP and Netflix to make this historic fight come to fruition.”
“Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano are two of the best boxers in the world,” said Mike Tyson. “I know they can both put on an incredible show, and I’m thrilled to have them join this card. These remarkable athletes will undoubtedly elevate the event with their global appeal and fan bases. Adding one of the greatest fights in women's boxing history to this unforgettable event is a true gift to fans. Saturday, July 20 can’t get here soon enough.”

"Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano captivated  the sports world during their first fight two years ago, and fans have been clamoring to see them in the ring together again ever since," said Gabe Spitzer, Vice President, Nonfiction Sports, Netflix. "We are thrilled to partner with MVP to bring this epic rematch to Netflix subscribers all over the world on Saturday, July 20th, in what will be an unforgettable night alongside Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson."

Crown Jewel 2023 Predictions
Tumblr media
November 4th is Crown Jewel. I'm not a big fan of these Saudi shows because you'll never get anything great. It's kind of there. I'll go through each match and who I think will be the victors.
Iyo Sky vs. Bianca Belair - WWE Women's Championship
This one is difficult because Iyo Sky only won the title this past August, but on the other hand, Bianca Belair has just returned, so the focus is on her. I'm gonna say Belair wins. She keeps the title going into WrestleMania 40.
I'm not overly excited for this match even tough both women should put on a good match.
John Cena vs. Solo Sikoa
I really can't see John Cena losing here due to the story they are telling. Cena gets the win, get his confidence back and you give the crowd a feel good moment. Solo Sikoa can afford the loss. The fact that he is wrestling Cena is a bigger win for him.
This is another bout I have no love for. Cena is so over the top that I don't believe he feels the way he is telling us.
Cody Rhodes vs. Damian Priest
Cody Rhodes - the super babyface - is going to pick up the win. Damian Priest will still have the briefcase so he is kept him championship picture.
This feels like a match that should be on RAW.
Rey Mysterio vs. Logan Paul - WWE United States Championship
This might be one of the few matches I'm looking forward to seeing. But who gets the victory? I think Logan Paul gets the win. At this point, Rey doesn't need the title in his career, and Logan can elevate that title and really put the spotlight on it.
Seth Rollins vs. Drew McIntyre - WWE World Heavyweight Championship
This may be the toughest one to call. A heel Drew McIntyre with the title would be a lot of fun, but Drew hasn't resigned as of yet so it makes me think he may not be sticking around. If Drew loses, but turns heel, that would also make for good storytelling. Here is my prediction. Drew turns in mid-match, wins the title.
There's great storytelling with this match and this belongs on a PPV.
Rhea Ripley vs. Nia Jax vs. Shayna Baszler vs. Zoey Stark vs. Raquel Rodriguez - WWE Women's World Champion
This will be be a chaotic match where each woman will get a few seconds to shine. Some big moves combined with finishers being delivered. Rhea Ripley will be victorious.
Roman Reigns vs. LA Knight - Undisputed WWE Universal Championship
There is zero chance that LA Knight is winning. But, Knight can be booked to get a close win so he looks good. Roman Reigns is bringing that belt to WreslteMania to face Cody Rhodes.
What do you think? Are you looking forward to Crown Jewel? Do you have different predictions? Let me know.

Francis Ngannou to Face Anthony Joshua in Highly Anticipated Boxing Match
Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou is set to take on former world champion Anthony Joshua in a thrilling boxing match on March 8 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Francis Ngannou, known for his devastating knockout power in mixed martial arts, made his professional boxing debut against Tyson Fury, dropping him en route to a narrow split decision loss. Despite not securing the win, Ngannou's performance caught the attention of the boxing world, leading to his upcoming bout against Anthony Joshua. This highly anticipated matchup has generated significant buzz, as two heavyweight champions collide in what promises to be an explosive showdown.

Ngannou's Journey from the UFC to the Boxing Ring
Ngannou rose to prominence in the UFC heavyweight division, demolishing his opponents with his raw power and impressive striking ability. However, a contract dispute and his desire to test himself in the boxing ring led him to leave the promotion. Many doubted Ngannou's chances against Fury, given his lack of technical boxing skills. However, he surprised everyone with his improved technique and veteran-like patience, giving Fury one of the toughest fights of his career.
Joshua's Road to Redemption
Anthony Joshua, a two-time former unified champion, is looking to capitalize on Ngannou's newfound popularity. After suffering back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk, who will now fight Fury for the undisputed heavyweight title, Joshua bounced back with victories over Jermaine Franklin, Robert Helenius, and Otto Wallin. His plan to face former WBC champion Deontay Wilder was derailed when Wilder lost to Joseph Parker, making Ngannou the most lucrative option for Joshua.
Other Exciting Fights on the Card
In addition to the Joshua vs. Ngannou clash, the event in Riyadh features several other intriguing matchups. WBO interim heavyweight champion Zhilei Zhang takes on Joseph Parker in a fight with title implications. The winner of this bout is likely to become a mandatory challenger for the Usyk-Fury winner later this year. Additionally, the WBC featherweight title will be on the line as champion Rey Vargas faces challenger Nick Ball. This fight promises to be a thrilling encounter between two skilled fighters. The stage is set for an epic showdown between Francis Ngannou and Anthony Joshua. Ngannou's impressive performance against Fury has elevated his status in the boxing world, while Joshua aims to reclaim his former glory. The event in Riyadh also features other exciting fights with title implications, adding to the anticipation surrounding the night. As fight fans eagerly await the clash of these heavyweight giants, the outcome of the Ngannou vs. Joshua bout will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the landscape of the heavyweight division.
