and of course i have to listen to Guardhouse 1 again. it is absolutely CRUSHING that the tank controls and antiquated art style of resident evil 1 makes many people unwilling to play it. its 100% worth it to accomodate to the game a little because i think as an experience, especially a first-time experience the game is one of the best. the fact that i know the mansion by heart now makes me sad because ill never again be wandering around on DANGER health with 3 keys in my inventory with shotgun shells steadily decreasing because im out of self-defense knives and theres crimson heads everywhere.

#resident evil 2 (2019) was good in a similar but distinct kind of way #despite all the bioweapon antics it really angled further toward the realism #you still get the tension but you dont feel the uncanniness as strongly #cause like in the theoretical 'normal' time then the police station is just a normal building where people are #but in the 'normal' time in the mansion its still a bizarre frightening place #thats a really vital aspect of the first game
