Fuck it, I’m posting the selfcare checklist. I created this for my university seminar students on how to make yourself feel better when anxiety, loneliness, or whatever negative feeling hits. These 10 things are questions literally every single person needs to answer
Have I? (physical needs/daily needs)
Eaten
Drank
Slept
Showered
Have I? (metaphysical needs/every few days needs)
Sat down (reoriented motivations, stopped working, etc)
moved/exercised (have you been sitting too long?)
been outside (10+ minutes in daylight)
Have I? (social needs/weekly)
Talked to someone?
Gone somewhere?
Done something novel? (not exactly new, but interesting or diferent)
You have to answer these questions in order and if you can’t move forward, repeat steps/start over. If you find you can never move forward that’s when it’s time to seek professional help.
Once you get a taste of bettering yourself, it becomes addictive in the best sense, it becomes a priority to put your wellbeing first, your health, your growth, your education. All you’re going to be focused on is how to become the best version of you possible. This is the most powerful form of living; as all the energy otherwise wasted on comparison, doubt, etc is invested into you, as it should be.
“Not everyone can feel things as deeply as you. Most people, their feelings are ... bland, tasteless. They’ll never understand what it’s like to read a poem and feel almost like they’re flying, or to see a bleeding fish and feel grief shatters their heart...”
