Random Fact of the Week - Birthday edition

Elizabeth Evelyn Potter--named after Abby's mother and grandmother respectively--was born on June 28th, 2015.

Today, she would be turning 1 year old. And Harry just prayed the house would stay standing long enough for them to celebrate.

Beep beep beep beep beep

"What the bloody hell is that?" James said covering his ears as he came down the stairs still in his pajamas, hair a mess.

(It was currently 2pm. Abby claimed this was normal for 14 years olds.)

Lizzie immediately broke out into startled cries at the noise, lifting her arms up from her high chair as Harry walked by.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" Abby said, taking a smoking tray out of the oven.

With Lizzie in one arm, Harry pulled out his wand and pointed it at the screeching fire alarm to silence it before dispelling the smoke from Abby's...cake? He wasn't positive, but he didn't want to hurt her feelings by asking.

Abby was not a delusional person by any means. But for some reason, she had it in her head that she was meant to be a baker.

However after so many years spent witnessing the carnage she wrought with that oven, Harry could safely say, she was not.

And that was perfectly fine. He was more than happy to help out with the occasional bake sale or the hastily agreed upon dessert for a party. But for some reason, Abby had insisted on baking Lizzie's cake herself.

"Yikes," James said, eyeing the darkened blob on the tray. "Was it supposed to come out like that?"

Lizzie immediately pushed her body towards James at the sound of his voice. "Ame! Ame!"

"Don't let her touch it," Harry said quietly as James took Lizzie in his arms and started making goofy faces at her.

Harry then turned to Abby who was still eyeing the blob with consideration, a knife in her hand.

"Do you think if I try to scrape off the burnt parts, it'll--"

"No," Harry said, gently pushing her arm down.

"Magic?" she said, hopefully.

"Don't think Merlin himself could get you out of this one," James said, causing Harry to give him a look of disapproval.

A sound at the kitchen door made them turn around and they saw Teddy walking in with Lily attached to his side, chattering his ear off while Al, a respectable distance from his other side, was doing the same.

Various shouts of "Teddy!" rang throughout the kitchen.

Burnt cake and knife long forgotten, Abby ran over and brought him into a hug, practically squeezing the life out of him.

Harry and James followed suit, the latter giving him a very 'cool' and 'manly' slap on the back.

Only Lizzie seemed hesitant, smiling shyly at him from Abby's arms.

Teddy was so busy these days with work that he didn't often get the chance to stop by, and Lizzie was still so little. Harry would be surprised if she even remembered him at all.

"Aiw...aiw," she said, rubbing the top of her head.

"What, baby girl?" Abby said, looking down at her.

"Aiw!" she said, jumping down in her mum's arms before pointing at Teddy.

"Is she saying 'ew'?" Al said, looking amused.

James snorted a laugh. "What's that phrase?" he said, bumping Teddy's elbow with his. "From the mouth of babies, or something?"

"Out of the mouths of babes," Teddy corrected.

"Aiw, aiw!" Lizzie said, rubbing her head again.

With a gasp, Lily looked at Teddy then back at her sister. "She's saying 'hair'! She wants you to change your hair!"

Harry and Abby met each other's eyes and grinned.

"Do it, Ted," Harry said with excitement. "Let's see if that's what she wants."

Not needing to be asked twice, Teddy turned his hair from turquoise to lime green to red to purple to neon yellow, all the while causing Lizzie to squeal with happiness and clap.

Harry was beaming the entire time, unable to believe his baby girl was this smart. It had been at least a month since they'd last seen Teddy, and she'd remembered.

He leant in and kissed her chubby cheeks as she continued to giggle at Teddy's hair.

And as always when all his family was under one roof and happy, Harry couldn't help but feel like the luckiest man in the world.

You are so sweet for asking!! 2024 has been flyingggg by. It feels like it was just January and that's a bit scary, but otherwise it's been going alright! Nothing big planned for this year as of yet. I'm just kind of hoping it can be the year I finally finish GYWM 🙈 that would be pretty cool.

But other than that...just hoping to take things day by day and make a lot of wonderful memories with the people I love. And I sincerely wish amazing things for you as well and every single person reading this ❤️❤️❤️🤞🤞🤞🤞

just went through my annual reread of gywm and truly it will always be THAT story for me, Abby and Harry are everything and truly on my mind 24/7, super excited for what you have to give us! hope you’re doing well!

I love everything about GYWM. Abby is adorable and so so strong and such a lovely partner for Harry. I've loved seeing their relationship grow.

In a way I think Abby makes Harry feel happy and comfortable not only in his magical life but also his muggle ways. Like he probably wasn't very comfortable in his muggle ways because they were always a reminder of growing up with the Dursleys and with Ginny being magical he didn't have to think about it but Abby makes him think about it and face some of his hidden grudges which I find to be really heartwarming.

I don't mean to push but do you think we might get the new chapter sometime soon? Eagerly waiting!

Currently watching: honestly nothing atm. I'm not a big TV or movie watcher lately. Last thing I was really into was Loki and that was back in October. I still need to catch up on the new Doctor Who episodes as well 🙈 Idk why I haven't yet, I know I will like them

Reading: I've been reading a lot more lately. My last fav was "The Seven Year Slip" by Ashley Posten. A romance with a fun time travel twist.

Current Favorites: again, reading is a big favorite currently. Also I've gotten into baking which is new because I've always hated it lol. But I've been finding it pretty relaxing. My cat is always a favorite 😻 I've also been enjoying photography and making short videos of things in my life. Like friends, cat, family. Just a little creative thing I find fun. Hopefully writing will be added to this list again soon 🙈

I've already left comments on AO3 but I just wanted to say, GYWM is one of my favorite fics ever. It's 100% my favorite Harry/MuggleOC story. It's also probably my favorite Dad!Harry story. I love how he is with his kids and I love them too (don't tell them but Lily is my favorite!). Abby is fantastic and I love how their relationship develops over time, from acquaintances, to friends, to best friends, and finally, lovers. She's great with the kids too! Seriously, I love this story! <3

Idk if you’ve ever talked about this but I was just thinking about what Abby and Harry’s wedding would be like. The longest time I was thinking of a traditional service and maybe Abby reconciles with her brother and he walks her down the aisle and the Weasley family is there happy that Harry’s happy but now I’m thinking of Harry talking to Ron and hermione and maybe even just Ron - and realizing he does want to marry Abby and the kids bring it up too and Abby says yes and instead of a big or even a traditional ceremony - they opt to go to a muggle courthouse and get married with just their little family - Harry and Abby and the kids. Abby wears a casual white summer dress and Harry wears his nicest pants and a button up shirt that he has ten of but he knows Abby likes the color on him and the kids ‘dress up’ too, but with their personality - they get one picture at the courthouse after the ceremony and while it’s not an ‘idyllic’ wedding or anything traditional about it - it’s perfect and wonderful and Abby wouldn’t want it any other way

I haven't put too much thought into what their wedding would look like, but I do agree it would definitely be a small, simple affair. I love the idea you've come up with and especially the fact that you know the characters well enough to know what they would like 😊 I can see them having a little party afterwards on some remote beach or something. Somewhat of a destination wedding with just the family and a few close friends. I'm sure I'll write something for them one day, but this is such a sweet idea ❤️

Is Lizzy going to be a certified Daddy’s girl? And what do you think is going to be her personality?

I mean, do YOU think she's going to be a certified Daddy's girl? Because imo, there is no doubt 😆 yes she will absolutely be, but also a big time mommy's girl too. Where Lily will be a lot tougher, devious, athletic, and a tad spoiled 🤭, I see Lizzy being a lot softer, more girly, easy-going. She's the sibling that everyone gets along with. She wears dresses most of the time and loves giving hugs. She loves nature and animals and playing piano.

What's Abby's stance on Christmas cards? I think with the moving pictures in the wizarding world, she would love to set up silly-cute scenes and send out adorable Christmas cards.

I mean what do YOU think Abby's stance on Christmas cards is? Because imo there's no doubt that she is all on board for anything and everything sentimental, festive, silly, and cute 😆 I'm picturing Harry as the Grinch and Lily as Cindy Lou-Who, for example

Hi! I’m re-reading GYWM for the millionth time and I wondered if you planned to write about Abby dealing with paparazzi. Im so curious as to what that would look like, specifically her first time being photographed with Harry.

Is the next chapter going to be in Harrys Pov? Or are we going to read it from a new point of view? Like Hermione/Ron/Molly or even arthur?

What I have down so far is Harry's POV! I think I've only ever done one other POV besifes Harry and Abby and that was James in a much earlier chapter (which was really fun to write). I don't forsee writing any more for the rest of GYWM, but I can definitely see myself doing one shots or rfws from someone's POV in the future
