I've missed a lot of opportunities in life because of fear and insecurity. I suffer from really bad anxiety and depression and the way it's run my life has made me miss out on a lot of potentially good things. I also have a lot of people around me who are very opinionated with strong personalities and I really wish that I could go back and tell younger Talie to not be afraid and to take the chances and to listen to her own heart and gut instead of others because only good can ever come from it. (And that she should find a therapist sooner rather than later cause omgggg girl you need it).

🪻 What is the toughest thing you had to go through, but can say you’ve successfully overcome?

My struggle with religion. I grew up Catholic and went to a Catholic private school growing up and looking back on the experience now, it was a completely different world. And you don't even realize how messed up some of the stuff they teach you or the behavior they push onto you is until you're out of it. And it's not the religion itself that I have a problem with - no religion is bad in my opinion - but its the people in the religion that are the problem for me. For something that's supposed to be about love for all, a lot of them really can't practice what they preach.

My family is religious too and trying to find my own way and adjusting my belief system and behaviors to match who I am as a person and what I really believe has been hard while trying to fend off the "Catholic guilt" I was getting. Now I just happily say I'm spiritual instead and I can't express the absolute freedom I feel now because of it. Going through the whole experience really changed my life.

So when I was in college I had a friend who was having a “thing” with an RA. She wanted it to be more of a friends-with-benefits thing but he wanted to be more than that. He was becoming insanely possessive of her and hated when we tried to hang out with her. Eventually she tried to cut things off cause he got too much to handle but he started stalking her and me and our other friend which eventually led to threats do stuff to get us kicked out of the school. I got a note on my bed once saying how much he hated me and that I’ll ‘stay out of their relationship if I know what’s good for me’. I even recorded him telling my friend that he would ‘bury us’ if we didn’t stop meddling and get out of his way. I took it to the school hoping they would kick him out or do something. But they didn’t do anything. I was terrified cause he’s an RA and had access to my dorm and a key to my room and they didn’t even strip him of his job. Also, the police didn’t do anything either sooooo yeah. Scary stuff.

I’m sure I have a better story than this but this is all I can think of right now.

I got my wisdom teeth pulled back in 2021 and it had taken me soooooo long to get the appointment. One of the teeth was literally crumbling and I was in so much pain. So I get there and they try to put me under but my veins are really hard to find (yes, blood tests are a bitch lmao) and they couldn’t get it. So they said I could either reschedule and get the surgery done at the hospital or I can do the gas/numbing stuff instead and just be awake for it. Well, I was in so much pain and didn’t want to reschedule so I opted for the gas….and let me tell you. WORST decision ever. OMGGGG as someone who suffers from anxiety and was already insanely stressed about it, it was so traumatizing. They were like "do you feel dizzy yet?" and I kept saying no cause I didn't and they were baffled that I was still so lucid and not feeling it so I think they thought I was lying? Anyway, I felt like I could feel everything. Not as in pain pain per se. Although there definitely was some. But the pressure was horrible. And they couldn’t even take one all the way out cause it was too close to a nerve, so they had to use a saw thing to cut it and the sound in my ears almost made me die. I was crying so bad and the gas thing over my nose kept loosing its suction with how I was breathing/crying and I swear it sounded like a pig.

Anyway, I don’t recommend doing it that way. Just be asleep for your wisdom teeth removal please lol

I really like my hair! It's always been fairly long and pretty thick and healthy. I always seem to get a lot of compliments on it. I have quite a bit of grey in it now though that I was kind of self conscious about but now I'm getting pretty used to it and even embrace it

I've always dreamed about being an Author because I feel most at home and alive when I'm writing. But then I think about how I feel when I'm on a deadline for writing and how much it makes me not want to write and I get worried cause that's all being an Author is is meeting deadlines lolllll. I'm working towards becoming a copywriter instead cause you still get to be creative and write but its different material and can be for different types of media so I think that will give me more variety to work with. Plus if I start my own freelance business, I can work from home and decide for myself who I work with.

🍀 What is your comfort show/series and why is it your comfort show? How has it helped you?

As weird as it sounds, The Walking Dead is actually a huge comfort show for me. Well, through Season 6 at least. Once Glenn died, I feel like the show kinda shifted away from what it was and it was not as fun to watch anymore. I started watching it back in college after I had a huge falling out with a friend group before I met the person I know consider my best friend, and I was really lonely during that time so I spent a lot of time in my room by myself and the show provided a welcome distraction.

It's not as terrifying as other zombie media either in my opinion and I really like the sense of family that comes with it. End of the world/dystopian stuff is really neat in the way that they bring people together who probably never would have even talked to each other beforehand and make them friends, and even make them consider each other like family - and The Walking Dead definitely does a good job of showing the importance that.

But on days when I really need a laugh, my go-to is Nailed It! on Netflix. Its funny and low stress in the way that everyone is literally just there to have a good time - no stressing about being perfect - and its reassuring to see that lots of other people's attempts at Pinterest recreations often look as bad as mine 😂
