She stuttered it out, brown eyes wide and shining. The confused look on her face made up for the sheepish way her voice had carried over after the man had begun to leave, wavering with a sense of panic at the idea of being left alone. She couldn’t possibly let this good man get away. 

❝ You can’t leave yet! ❞ 

But as to why exactly not, she had no idea. This was an outreach, it left her lips sounding like a plea. She stood up a little straighter to compensate for how pathetic her words might have sounded, just in case he’d caught it. 

“My — I wasn’t going to go. Done it for my mom, it’s what I think she’d have been proud of.”

He didn’t know why he’d let that information pass to no more than a stranger but he had. Still, he refrained from even mentioning his father. Bruce cleared his throat looking down at his watch and up at the itinerary on the wall.

“My plane is boarding soon, I’d better get to the gate.” He nodded, “Nice meeting you, Miss Morello.” He took her hand, placing a kiss against the knuckles just the same as he would always do, before throwing a sideways smile in her direction.

“I’ll be seeing you.” He offered, giving a small wave before attempting to walk by her.
