Role reversal/balance of power between Wei Qian and Wei Zhiyuan as seen through camera language/shot composition

EP 1-6 Wei Qian is seen at a higher position of "power" than Yuan; EP7 and on that is reversed

EP 1: Wei qian is placed much higher than yuan in the scene. This shot of wei qian is almost god-like. There is light coming from his direction. In yuan's eyes he is the pillar, his savior, lending a hand down to pull him out of darkness.

How many times throughout EP 3-6 can they show us the worshipping at your feet, I am at your beck and call position? Wei qian very much sits in the role of an older brother/guardian, and yuan is often placed to be looking up at him. They are not yet on the same level.

Wei Zhiyuan returns and he's in control

After EP 7, we get more top-down shots of Wei qian, making him look more vulnerable. He's often looking up at yuan.

And Yuan towers over him.

Their position on the slope during the EP10 confession scene is telling

Yuan is at the taller end of the hill. He is in control of this conversation. He asks the questions while Wei qian fumbles to explain.

Wei qian is standing on the lower end of the slope so he has to look even further up at yuan. He's in a vulnerable position as he finally confesses his feelings.

But in the end, their positions reverse:

In this moment, Wei qian holds the power to make a choice. And he finally takes that step forward and grabs onto yuan.

It was okay that Qian let Yuan go when he was angry about Qian hiding his health; .. he could manage that.

But he couldn't let Yuan go, knowing he misunderstood Qian's feelings.

Their first morning after and the tenderest of snuggles and comfort.

Every time this picture shows up on my tl I have to stop & stare.

This moment is so HUGE & not just cause they’re kissing, but because Qian initiates the kiss. Qian is holding on to Yuan savoring the moment, savoring Yuan himself & that drives me INSANE!!

And that’s just me thinking from Qian’s perspective. Imagine how Yuan feels. Yuan who has dreamt of Qian loving him back the way he loves him, Yuan who kept his love hidden, Yuan who fought/waited/hoped for this moment. Dammit they drive me insane!!!!
