odysseus absolutely does present a threat to penelope if he perceives her as at all unfaithful, and i feel the unfairness of this, and i think people tend to undersell how much tension at least potentially exists between odysseus and penelope. but i'm also like. his reaction, all speculation aside, his actual reaction in the odyssey to her flirting with the suitors is delight, because he immediately ascertains that she is running a con. sorry that they're so in-sync in spite of the forces that try to drive a wedge between them, including their own misgiving hearts. sorry that they invented homophrosyne ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

i think vampires that drink from animals should be considered more unethical than ones that drink from humans. "ohhh its vegan" bitch no it isnt. youre gonna drain that poor wild deer and leave it woozy and weak to other predators? you're two steps left of a poacher. just go to your local gay bar and you can find 100s of people that would willingly sign up to being bitten if you dont mind them being a little freaky about it.

#I don't really re-read books cover to cover although I do re-read my fave scenes obsessively #(or at least I used to) #I think the only book I've re-read front to back is The Seven-Per-Cent Solution #it's a silly Sherlock Holmes pastiche #Holmes and Watson go to Vienna #Holmes gets hypnotised by Freud #reveals the childhood trauma at the root of his addiction problems #there's a scene when he's fighting the antagonist on top of a moving train. I don't even know #you'd think this is a random ao3 fanfiction but no. this is a 1974 novel #not even my fave book or anything it was just a fun read
