Levi usually kept his emotions under strict control but seeing you in a Titan’s grip broke through his defenses. He had acted swiftly, his blades slicing precisely to save you from being crushed. Back within the walls, he visited you in the infirmary. Although your injuries were serious, they weren't fatal, yet this did little to ease Levi's anger over the dangerous situation you had faced.
You were sitting up in bed, bandaged and bruised, when Levi stormed in. His eyes, usually so controlled and unreadable, burned with an intensity that made you wince.
You were reckless," he spat out the moment he stood beside your bed.
You met his gaze, "I had to make a decision, Levi. It was a risk, but it was calculated—"
"Calculated?" Levi's eyes hardened, his jaw clenching as he fought back a wave of frustration. "There’s a fine line between making a calculated decision and a suicidal move. What you did was the latter."
Your eyes softened, understanding the fear behind his anger. "I know it's hard to see from the outside. I thought I had it under control. I thought—"
"You thought wrong," Levi interjected. He turned away, his hands clenching and unclenching at his sides. "Every time you go out there and pull a stunt like that, you’re not just risking your life. You’re risking the lives of those who have to save you."
The room fell silent, the tension so thick it can be sliced with a knife. After a long moment, he turned back to face you, his expression slightly softened.
"Listen," he said, his voice now lower, more controlled. "I... We can't afford to lose you. Not like that."
You reached out, your hand lightly touching his. "I understand, I promise, I'll be more careful."
"I can’t watch over you every moment out there." He said looking at your bandages. "Get some rest, we have another mission soon, and I need you at your best." He let go of your hand slowly, seeming hesitant to let go.
"Yes, Captain," you replied. As he walked out, you lay back against your pillows thinking about all the events that happened today.
So, we all love Gale’s mirror image/simulacrum, and how the ‘certain measure of Gale’s personality’ that he retains is Gale’s sweet, dorky charm…but is Gale himself aware of this?
I don’t believe we ever see Gale actually interact with his mirror image, as it always appears as a replacement when Gale is elsewhere.
It’s possible Gale has always just assumed he’s created this 100% straightforward, serious mirror image who radiates scholarly intelligence…because surely, that’s the aspect of his personality that it would pull from, right?
Imagine if one night, after Gale and Tav are married and living in Waterdeep, they start reminiscing about their romance. Tav brings up their first night together, and mentions how surprised they were to see Gale’s mirror image standing in his place at camp.
Gale is pleased, and says with a gentle laugh that he hopes Tav wasn’t too intimidated by his simulacrum’s stoic nature.
To which Tav responds oh no, not at all! They loved how adorable he was, and they still remember the cute pose he did to represent Gale’s personality!
Gale (perplexed): …darling, whatever do you mean? What pose…?
Sometimes filler in a story is not a bad thing. To slow down the pace and plot a little, to build out the setting and world, or just to let characters evolve a bit with a little less pressure on them. But, especially in horror, I find it a good way to get the readers invested in the protagonist. So when all the bad shit happens and goes down. They are actually sympathetic to the protag. I think it helps a bit. Maybe I am wrong.
You know, every kind of Ao3 comments is good! Even constructive criticism ones too. Usually people like when readers go into detailed introspection of the chapter or about a character's motivations ( I do too) but recently I've started to receive this kind of comments which basically makes my HEART BURST WITH HAPPINESS 🔽
"Thank you for writing this story" "Keep on writing" "Thanks for bringing this story to life"
I MEAN HOW CAN YOU BE SO KIND THAT YOU THANK ME FOR WRITING! IM WRITING FOR MYSELF AND YOU ARE THANKING ME FOR BEING GOOD TO MYSELF. THIS FEELING IS SO BEAUTIFUL! Some of you readers literally give us the life long memories through your comments. I get too overwhelmed. Oh God!
Thank you to whoever leaves comments like these or similar on stories. Y'all angels!
