I think it’s incredibly fucked how capitalism discourages learning for learning’s sake. People will have interests they’ve spent years researching then say it’s “useless knowledge” bc it didn’t go towards a college degree and isn’t part of their job. Learning is never useless! Your brain is growing and developing throughout your whole life! People would never have epiphanies or sudden lightening strikes of creativity if they weren’t learning new things! That goes double for topics like science, politics, and history, which inform your understanding of the world you live in!

I feel like I should be allowed—rather, get more opportunity—to approach fandom like academia SPECIFICALLY in how common it is in media studies to cite writing by people on a completely different work and apply that as a framework for analysis of the work I am discussing without necessarily having to completely re-articulate and re-construct that structural approach from the ground up.

It should be more common to point to a framework of ideas in someone else's Tumblr posts on, I don't know, Midst and Fullmetal Alchemist to discuss Critical Role: Campaign 3, just like how I've very much cited The X-Files and The Island to discuss Star Wars while I was getting my media studies degree.

We should start doing this more often, just start citing people's fandom meta articulating a point in something as a framework to discuss this completely other thing. Participate in the forum of ideas. We should just start openly be like Tumblr user so-and-so's rant about The Locked Tomb is a good structural basis to rant about MY hyperfixation using the same structural framework.

Juuust started ep. 112 (SOON 😭) and wanted a lil' throwback Tuesday (ish) to the aftermath of the pit fiend fight in the City of Brass and Vax planting a big one on Scanlan, upside down Spider-man kiss style 💜 ...Except 1) I cheerfully ignored the fact that they're all in disguise at that point and 2) I could. not. for the life of me figure out volumes and anatomy for an actual "Vax holding Scanlan upside down and then kissing him" drawing ;___; (can you hear the imposter syndrome sing? I sure can!)

And look, Pikelan will always be my first and foremost CR ship for so many reasons (Scanlan and Pike own my heart so bad). But these two... oh, these two.
