"As long as you save some special phrases for me, the flirty banter is part of your thing. We don't want people finding out you might have a weakness if you change your style too much," she offered. "And I want to help out if I can. I'm not sure how good I'll be... But I can try."
She leaned into Felicia's hand on her cheek and smiled. Opening her eyes, Alex stepped back and grabbed a box tied with a ribbon. "I was waiting for something special to give you this... But the article will be published soon and I didn't want you to find out before I told you," she said quietly.
Inside the box was a picture of a small dinosaur skeleton. The creature had a sign next to it that had the name "Compsognathus feliciafur, The Lucky Thief". "I found it on accident when I was on that dig a while ago... We found more skeletons but this one was the first. I... I named it after you. I hope you don't mind."

The woman blinked and tried to get a coherent sentence out even though the blush on her face was raging.
"But why?" Was the only thing that made it out of her mouth. She was genuinely confused by this even though it was so nice to know.
She lit up slightly when he spoke to her about a plan and brightened up more when he said he'd go with her. It was the best! "Owen!" She exclaimed, getting up and darting towards him. Arms wrapped around him and she hugged him tightly. "Thank you thank you thank you!" Alex grinned and shimmied happily as she hugged him before letting go.
"Claire said they have someone there bringing species off the island. We'll see them again, Owen. We'll see the girls. Oh it'll be amazing!" She gushed, clasping her hands in front of her. "We should pack. What do we even bring? I don't know how long we'll be there. The island is erupting... I don't know what to do. But this is going to be great..."
As she spoke, her enthusiasm dipped. There was something unsettling taking root in her stomach. Something felt a bit wrong about it all, but Claire trusted the plan. She wouldn't do anything to hurt them.
"Owen... Claire got in touch with me," she said softly, putting her papers down from her job with the Smithsonian. She needed some way to fill up her time since the park fell and working on her modern analogue focus from her degree was working splendidly as well as being a reptile vet for the local zoos and house calls. "She says she's going back to the island... and she needs the help of a tracker." The woman frowned and looked at the table. "I... I told her I wouldn't make you go... and that I was willing to go help too. Owen... they can save our girls. Lockwood... he wants to save them!"
Owen was quiet.
He hadn't expected a call like that, at least, not yet. But it made sense. In fact, it made perfect sense.
A part of him didn't want to. Going back to the island was the same as having a death wish. The chances of survival were zero. The last thing he wanted was the love of his life and a good friend putting themselves at risk.
But.
He wanted to go. He wanted to see them one more time. He wanted to help save them, if he could, and he knew Claire and Alex would be safer with him along.
"Did Claire mention any kind of plan?" he asked. "If we have any chance to save them... I'm in. Of course I'm in."
She snuggled closer hearing him repeat the promise, eyes falling closed. A grin formed on her lips when he mentioned she needed to come with him on long ventures again and she nodded. "I will. I promise," she assured, chuckled when he kissed her skin.
Hearing the reason, Alex opened her eyes and blinked, tilting her head slightly into the pillow. "Funding went dry? Wow. Usually there's at least one donor that will give it a little longer," she said softly, frowning a bit. Seemed people must not enjoy dinosaurs anymore. She listened as he told her about his last night and she knew the feeling. She'd done similar things when she went to conferences and then got to come home early. "I promise I'll be there next time. Not sure how much good I'll do but I'll be there. If anything I might just be able to provide some entertainment by random useless facts."
She smiled at the thought and then moved away from Owen for a moment. Grabbing her phone, the scientist typed out texts that said, "I'm sick and won't be in. Here's what needs to happen today" and a list of what tasks needed to be accomplished. With that sent, she looked back at Owen and smiled. "I'm yours for the day. You don't have to worry about being without me."
It was late. It was quiet. He hadn't called since their goodnight call; he wanted to surprise her. He had driven all night to get back home. She thought he was coming home tomorrow. He knew he was coming home right now. He slipped his key into the lock, then a rose on her nightstand, something she would see when she first opened her eyes in the few short hours until her alarm went off. He gave himself ten minutes in the shower, torn and debating between resting on the couch so he wouldn't scare her, or slipping into bed and finally falling asleep, finally home with his Alex, after such an unexpectedly long research journey. //Also known as SURPRISE GUESS WHAT MUSE WANTED TO SAY HIIIIII x3333 and please how could I ever slip online without leaving love for my favorite writer/pairing/OC? x3
Alex hadn't been sleeping well with Owen gone. And when she heard him say he'd be gone longer, she was devastated. But she wanted him to have the best experiences and ways to further his career. He deserved the best out of life and she would make sure she was there to help him... even if that meant being home alone.
The woman had taken some medicine to get her to sleep after their nightly call and she was sleeping soundly. Something in her sleep had her roll over and her arm draped over something familiar in bed. She snuggled closer and the scent of Owen filled her dreams, causing her to wake a little bit before her alarm. Eyes opened and she wrinkled her nose before rubbing her eyes and stretching. This had to be a dream. But everything felt real.
She leaned down and kissed his temple before laying back down to hopefully wake up from the dream. But when her alarm went off and she wasn't waking up, she quickly sat up in bed. He was home!? WHAT!?
She held the woman's hands in her own and listened carefully to her. "I wouldn't ever ask you to stop your work," she replied quietly, gently squeezing her hand. "I like hearing about how you've done your job too, you know. Watching your mind work is fun. I may not get it all the time, but I can be a good listener and sound board. Maybe find loopholes or something..."
She brought Felicia's hand up to her lips and gently kissed the thief's knuckles. "I can make that home. And it'll be filled with lots of comforts and culinary delights. I just want you to know... I want you to have the best. And if someone better than me comes along, I understand. I... I really care about you."

"But why?" Was the only thing that made it out of her mouth. She was genuinely confused by this even though it was so nice to know.
"Oh you are not an inconvenience," Alex quickly assured, smiling at the woman. Hearing that she didn't trust people easily, the scientist nodded. "I understand that quite a bit. I find it hard to trust people as well. But I'm happy I can trust you and I hope you can trust me too."
She smiled warmly and stood a bit taller. "When you're ready, we can head back for dinner. Just let me know what you might need and I'll get it for you."

Alex nodded and held the hand of the woman in front of her. It was cooler than hers and that was concerning. It was a warm temperature in the air and the humidity kept it warmer. So she was cool to the touch… something else must be at play. Owen said she was different… so maybe that was why?
“We promise we won’t keep you longer than you want,” She assured. “I don’t like being caged either. I love to run through the trees and fields. So we won’t do the same to you. But we’re your best bet at staying safe, Owen is right about that.” Alex gently pulled the woman from the shadows to lead her to the Jeep the handler had been at earlier. “What would you like to eat? We have a variety of things. Fish, chicken, beef, vegetables, pork, breakfast for dinner… there’s a lot.”
Alex pursed her lips as she fought the urge to contradict what Felicia was saying to her. "It's not that," she finally managed to blurt out. Taking a breath, she closed her eyes and slowly exhaled.
"I asked why because I don't see how someone as amazing as you would settle for someone like me." Hazel eyes opened and she looked at the woman in front of her. "You are so charismatic and draw such attention that when you walk into a room, everyone notices. You are stunning and charming, anyone can carry on a conversation with you and want to take you home. You deserve someone who can keep up with you and someone you can go with out to places. You don't need a person who'd rather curl up on a couch and watch movies while writing papers or something... You're incredible, Felicia and... I want you to have the best in the world. So the fact you want to be with me... It's making me reflect on myself and that's scary. Not in a bad way scary but in a way of I've believed something my whole life and you're turning it upsidedown... It's a lot."

Doli beamed and spoke quickly with Alex in their language before motioning off to the buildings. "Alex will take you to the horses so you can have a proper ride. They have some gear there too. I do hope you have fun, Doctor. Everyone should enjoy their birthday. Shall I make something for you to eat when you return?"
"Did I miss it? Please tell me I didn't miss your birthday. I'd feel awful! I made you a special cupcake and everything..."
"This is a time machine, it's never too late," he told her, "Thank you very much."
"Because we were supposed to be going to a party that's in the future and everything but now we've gone back in time for some reason and I'm confused," she replied. "I don't understand this. I don't think of time as swirls and swoops and everything. I can really only see it as linear because that's all I know. I hope that maybe I'll see it your way someday... But I need time to adjust."
"Hello Alex," the Doctor smiled as he walked out of the TARDIS, offering her a hug. "Do you have any plans for Halloween?" he asked her, "Because I just found out about a costume party in the year 3047. It's supposed to be one of the best, most fun and also scariest Halloween costume parties of all time."
She'd just been putting the finishing touches on her decorations around her place. There was supposed to be a party at her job, but she still didn't know what to wear. So when someone showed up, she jumped and squeaked.
"Ah! Really? No notice?" She asked. "As for scary things... I don't really do them. But I don't even know if that's a good thing and I don't know what to wear."
Alex arched an eyebrow and looked at him from her Jeep. "No," she stated plainly. "I'm not. I'm curious about fossils and Paleontology. I'm curious about how organisms used to live and if we got it right with this park. I'm curious about foods and flavors and cooking techniques. I don't have to be curious about anything else. Curiosity can get me fired and I love this job."

“It’s very dangerous. There are many, many carnivores in the center of the island from what the last reports say,” she answered. “No one has really set foot there since like… The late 1990’s or something.”
“Well it’s probably our only bet to find out more,” he told her, “I assume you’ve never been there?”
In the Jurassic World Game, Owen states that they
trained dolphins, seals, whales, and sharks in the
MK 9 (a human-animal cell in the Marine Mammal
Program). Now, Owen mainly worked with the dolp-
hins, but really, he likely worked with the other anim-
als too (he trains raptors on the island but is constantly
called in to check other paddocks && in the game he’s
called in to check on a sick triceratops SO…), and this
includes the sharks.
I thought training sharks seemed like an absurd idea
at first, but I looked it up, and people actually do this!
I thought I’d share!!
