on your first night in the woods you wake up to the smell of rain. when you leave your shelter the ground is damp and the leaves are still. there’s a chill. and far to the east, behind a blanket of trees, the first bright rays of morning are shining through to light on your face.

there’s no object lesson here, i think. it’s just too precious to forget.
