Back to Vienna after 1 year (4 months of which was volunteering work), 17 countries and countless wonderful people around the world met! So many amazing experiences that are almost impossible to put into words. We are very humbled by the experience, thankful and also happy to be back!

Our final destination, famous Trinidad, UNESCO world heritage for a good reason! We spent all our nights in case particulares in Cuba, this one was especially nice with our own private terrace :)

Digging into a bit of Cuban history in Santa Clara where you can find lots of information on Che Guevara. Not that touristy (in comparison), recommended!

Playa Larga (historically famous Bay of Pigs where the US tried to land in order to overthrow the newly established revolutionary government around Fidel Castro, Ernesto “Che” Guevara and Camilo Cienfuegos) and famous Playa Ancon. For the latter we rented bikes from Trinidad :)

Excursions in the national park of Viñales on the western end of the island of Cuba. We visited a tobacco farm, coffee farm and rum production. Disfrútalo!

One post attributed to the “coches viejos”. Even horse carts are a frequent site! All the oldtimers are US-based and brought into Cuba before the revolution 1959 (that’s when diplomatic relations turned icy with the US), so they have been running for 60-70 years, amazing! Oldest we saw was a 1946 Pontiac :)

We are spending our last 10 days in Cuba. Taking it easy. Cigars, rum, salsa and lots of sun. La vida cubana!

The day has finally arrived which was the only set point in our one year of travelling: Andrea’s and Oscar’s wedding! And how lovely it has been! Christy was Andrea’s maid of honor. The wedding itself was held in beautiful church in El Pueblito Mayakoba and the fiesta was at the most amazing Tulum beach club.

Our “rest” day after the bachelor parties was well spent snorkelling in the Caribbean waters with Ruth at cozumel island! We saw a barracuda, a sting ray, sea stars and many other things in the beautiful coral reef :)

Our second excursion (again with Andrea, Oscar, Ruth and other friends from the pre-wedding party) led us to another Maya site in Tulum, right next to the ocean. Iguanas (German: Leguan) were also frequently to be seen. We concluded the day with a delicious meal at one of the many beautiful beach clubs in Tulum.

Next we flew from Mexico City to the Cancún/Playa del Carmen/Tulum area, where we will attend Andrea & Oscar’s wedding, but first we had time to explore the area, visiting Chichén Itzá archeological site of the Maya.
Afterwards we jumped into a cenote (a flooded cave where the cave’s roof collapsed). You could do all kinds of activities there like Abseiling, Flying Fox, etc, a lot of fun!

After a couple of days in Lima, we flew to Mexico City, a very nice city and felt surprisingly safe for a 20 million city. We also visited the Teotihuacán pyramids of the Aztec. We also visited the famous Frida Kahlo museum.

Next we made our way back South to El Calafate, still in Argentina, and paid a visit to the amazing Perito Moreno Glacier. On our way back we also got to spot some condor eagles!
