Hallo Maria, wie geht es dir? Wie schlägst du dich in der Corona Krise als Künstlerin durch?

Vielen herzlichen Dank für diese Gelegenheit, ein Interview für das Stalker Magazin geben zu dürfen! Ja, die Zeiten sind speziell, das ist wahr, und schwierig nicht nur für Musiker, sondern für die gesamte Gesellschaft. Während am Anfang es sich noch durchhalten ließ, sind jetzt glaube ich wirklich viele Menschen am Ende ihrer psychischen und finanziellen Möglichkeiten angekommen.

Ich bin jemand, der versucht, immer das Positive in allen Situationen zu sehen. Ich denke, wir alle hatten endlich Zeit und Ruhe, um in uns zu gehen und nicht der extremen Beschleunigung des Lebens hinterher zu jagen. Zu verstehen, dass auch wenn man plötzlich viel weniger tut als sonst, dass auch dann nichts zusammenbricht, sondern das Leben weiter geht. Eben in einem anderen Tempo.

Ich persönlich habe die Zeit genutzt, um zu schreiben. Songs zu schreiben nicht nach einer bestimmten Vorgabe – wie ein Pop oder Rock Album, sondern es einfach fließen zu lassen. Sich selbst überraschen lassen. Sich selbst erkunden und besser verstehen. Rausgekommen dabei sind 3 Alben, die jetzt nach und nach zu Ende produziert und veröffentlicht werden. Sie gehen stilistisch tatsächlich stark auseinander, eines ist Poprock, über das wir heute sprechen; die anderen sind Pop und Popjazz. Die ersten beiden Alben kommen unter dem Künstlernamen SFP.BAND heraus.

Was ich aus dieser Zeit gelernt habe – ich mag produzieren, und zwar nicht nur unbedingt auf ein Genre bezogen. Mein Mittelpunkt ist jedoch die Popmusik, so dass alles von mir Produzierte am Ende einen Touch von Pop Musik bekommt 🙂

Du/ihr macht ja einen wilden Mix aus Pop, Rock, Jazz mit anderen Einflüssen. Wie würdest du deine Musik beschreiben und wer sollte sich denn deine Musik unbedingt anhören?

Das Album, über das wir heute sprechen, heißt “What does your love cost” und es ist Poprock. Die ersten zwei Lieder sind bereits als Singles ausgekoppelt: Falling und Yearning, zu finden bei Spotify und allen anderen Musikshops sowie YouTube.

Das macht es vielleicht auch verständlich, woher ich meine Kreativität schöpfe – mein musikalischer Weg ist von klassischer Musik, Jazz, Salsa, Pop, Rock und Jazz Einflüssen geprägt und der Mix daraus macht am Ende den Sound meiner Musik aus.

Prägend für alle Veröffentlichungen, genreunabhängig, ist am Ende ein verträumter, sanfter, emotionaler, vielleicht cinematischer Popsound.

Für was steht den SFP als Band Name?

SFP steht für Sounds for People. Auf diesen Namen kam ich, als ich überlegte, wie das Label zu meiner Musik heißen könnte. So gibt es jetzt SFPMUSIC als Label und SFP.BAND als der Interpret.

Du hättest ja eigentlich ein Album fertig, aber du möchtest die Songs einzeln veröffentlichen. Warum machst du das so und wird es vielleicht zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt ein komplettes Album geben?

Ja, das gesamte Album ist tatsächlich fertig gewesen und hätte am Stück veröffentlicht werden können, ich habe mich jedoch dagegen entschieden. Der Hauptgrund für mich war, dass nur bei Veröffentlichung der Singles man jedem einzelnen Song genug Promotion zukommen lassen kann. Man hat Zeit und Möglichkeit, ein Video zu jedem Song zu drehen und es zu promoten, was bei einem Albumrelease höchstens im Nachhinein stattfindet, wenn überhaupt. Ich finde es viel logischer, wenn das Video mit dem Song zusammen veröffentlicht wird und nicht Wochen oder Monate später. Dazu kommt, dass die Gesellschaft sich rapide verändert und man heute für jede Sekunde Aufmerksamkeit kämpfen muss. Es ist schon schwer, Leute dazu zu bringen, sich einen Song im ganzen anzuhören. Und gleich das ganze Album? Es scheint mir utopisch.

Was ich mit meiner Musik erreichen möchte? Ich kann mich erinnern, dass ich als Teenager immer stundenlang ein Lieblingslied gehört habe, besonders wenn ich mich gerade nicht gut fühlte. Ich denke, viele Menschen tun das, weil sie in ihren Lieblingssongs Halt suchen und finden.

Da meine Lieder sich um ein sehr universelles Thema drehen, die Liebe – eines der emotionalsten Themen überhaupt, hoffe ich, mit meinen Songs diese Erfahrung, die ich selbst gemacht habe – Halt finden in der Musik – an andere weiter geben zu können. Ich denke, das würde mich glücklich machen 🙂

Du hast im asiatischen Teil von Russland gelebt, wie kam es denn dazu? Was hast du dort gemacht und welche Erfahrungen hast du von dort mit nach Deutschland gebracht?

Ja, ich bin tatsächlich etwas herumgekommen im Leben, als Kind von einem „gemischten“ Ehepaar habe ich meine Kindheit in Kazachstan verbracht, anschließend gingen meine Eltern nach Deutschland und haben sich in Hannover niedergelassen. Deswegen ist Hannover für mich zu einem Anlaufpunkt geworden, wo ich immer wieder zurück gekehrt bin, auch wenn ich viele Jahre zwischendurch woanders gelebt habe. Z.B. in Berlin oder auch eine kleine Weile NY und Bermuda.

Dieses Hin- und Herreisen hat sicher viel dazu beigetragen, wer ich heute bin und hat stark meinen musikalischen Geschmack geprägt.

Das Leben in einem anderen Land bringt das Verständnis für die jeweilige Kultur, ohne das man sich nicht in die Menschen des Landes einfühlen und ihre Sehnsüchte verstehen kann. Sehnsüchte verstehen ist aber meiner Meinung nach genau das, was ein Künstler mit seiner Musik macht. Er offenbart die Sehnsüchte der Menschen und fasst sie in Musik und Worte.

Wenn du an einem anderen Ort in der Welt leben könntest, wo wäre das?

An welchem Ort ich am liebsten leben würde? Ich mag die Karibik und Bermuda, und auch Bali. Aber auf Dauer ist es vielleicht zu heiss 🙂 Ich bin offen dafür, was mein Leben noch so mit sich bringt. Es gibt ja sicher auch eine Menge Orte, die ich noch gar nicht kenne. Ich lasse mich vom Leben überraschen 🙂

October 2020 - SFP.BAND is a band with a focus on creating music that blurs the lines between different genres and aesthetics. Their sound blurs the lines between good melodic rock and alternative music with a more atmospheric and dreamy feel.
