I think it’s incredibly fucked how capitalism discourages learning for learning’s sake. People will have interests they’ve spent years researching then say it’s “useless knowledge” bc it didn’t go towards a college degree and isn’t part of their job. Learning is never useless! Your brain is growing and developing throughout your whole life! People would never have epiphanies or sudden lightening strikes of creativity if they weren’t learning new things! That goes double for topics like science, politics, and history, which inform your understanding of the world you live in!

I hope everyone understands, when I say “most endangered habitat on earth”, I mean temperate grasslands.

They’re more endangered than tropical rainforests, coral reefs, the arctic tundra, all of those go-to environments that get more of the spotlight.

Where I live, maybe 25% of the prairie remains in a natural state and that number is dropping. Even these fragments are mostly missing the keystone species that maintain their health, like bison, wolves, and prairie dogs. I know this is the case for other grasslands like the pampas and steppe as well. Vast lands empty of many species that used to call them home.

If you live on temperate grasslands, hold onto them tight, because they’ve been exploited like no other land and most people don’t even know how far the devastation goes.

“Is this seat taken?” a familiar voice asks.

Leshy raises his head up from the bar. He can hear Agares snoring, though from the sound of it he’s now lying on the ground. Leshy’s head feels strange. He’s never gotten properly drunk before; it’s difficult for a god to get even mildly inebriated. The experience is far more visceral as a mortal; his body feels warm, his face tingles, and he felt awesome up until about ten minutes ago. Now his stomach churns and his mouth is dry.

“Kiki?” he ventures.

“Got it in one,” she says. She takes a seat on the stool beside him. Her arm brushes against his as she reaches across to serve herself. “Looks like I missed all the fun.”

“I wouldn’t call it fun, necessarily.” It was for a moment.
