I think Katniss has so many important relationships, but I really love the dynamic between Katniss and Finnick. I love that they can truly understand each other and extend sympathy to what the other is going through. They leaned on each other in some of their worst times– that’s not something easily forgotten.

Week 3 Results

I asked Week 3′s questions on the IMDB board for Part 2 and tallied the results with the answers received on here. These are the results:

1. Which movie is your favorite so far? By a landslide - Catching Fire. 2. Did you watch the movies in order? Everyone said yes. 3. Who is your favorite character in the movies? Katniss was the clear winner with 9 votes, but Peeta came in second with 6 votes.  4. What is your favorite scene? There was a three-way tie! The Reaping scene in The Hunger Games, the blowing up of the forcefield/rescue scene in Catching Fire, and The Hanging Tree in Mockingjay Part 1 each had 4 votes. 5. What was the saddest scene for you? Also– what is the funniest scene? The saddest was the District 11 speech/Victory Tour scene in Catching Fire, followed closely by Rue’s death in The Hunger Games. The funniest scene was without a doubt the elevator scene with Johanna in Catching Fire. 6. Do you have a favorite shot from the films? What is it? The shot of Katniss rising into the arena in Catching Fire won with 4 votes, followed by the beginning shot of Katniss in Catching Fire at 3 votes.  7. What is your favorite costume? The tribute parade outfits in Catching Fire by far had the most votes.

Week 4 of THGMemories

Day 1: What was your initial impression of Katniss?

I thought Katniss was absolutely badass from the start, but she had teenage issues like they all do, which made her more real. 

Day 2: Do you prefer book or movie Katniss? 

I prefer book Katniss. As much as I love Jen’s performance, there’s just so much complexity that the movies leave out. 

Day 3: What do you think of Jennifer Lawrence’s portrayal of Katniss? 

I think Jen’s portrayal of Katniss is absolutely fantastic! She really brings the character to life, and she nails it every time. 

Day 4:  What is your favorite Katniss moment?

Well, this is more of an Everlark moment, but the “You’re a painter, you’re a baker” scene is great. Alone? Probably her propo in District 8. 

Day 5: What is your favorite friendship of Katniss’s?

Between Katniss/Haymitch and Katniss/Finnick. 

With Haymitch, he’s her father figure. Losing her dad so young was hard, and through mentoring and advice, Haymitch was there for her like a father. Though he lied to her at times, he cared about Katniss and Peeta like they were his own. Katniss finally had a father in her life again. 

With Finnick, they just have a strong bond that’s obvious. They both know and can connect to the harsh realities of what the Games and Snow had put them through. They’re able to open up to each other, and be vulnerable.

Day 6: What is your favorite romantic relationship of Katniss’s?

Katniss and Peeta, enough said. 

7. What does Katniss mean to you? 

Katniss means the world to me. She gives me the courage to stand up and fight for what I believe in, and that things are worth fighting for.

I was just rewatching the first theatrical trailer for The Hunger Games and no joke - I got goosebumps and tears sprung to my eyes. Just hearing that music takes me back and that trailer is still so amazing and I remember obsessively watching it over-and-over. How is this all coming to an end next month?!
