Yuki turned around, the Rowlet on his head turning with him and letting out a ‘Koo!’ 

“Yellow flowers? You must be talking about the meadow on Route 3. Rotom, can you show them?” The sentient pokedex made a buzzing sound and hovered in front of the other two, showing the local Melemele map. Yuki stepped to the side and pointed to the side of the mountain, opposite of where they were. “The entrance is right here. Just go… this way and down here and it’ll be on your right. Just be careful for the bird pokemon, they can be pretty… straightforward.” 

          “ Straightforward birds...? “ Terrel glanced at Sacilia with some nervousness. Their primary Pokemon was their Rowlet, and Mint didn’t fair well against other flying types. “ Maybe we should put that off for now... Sounds dangerous. “

          “ No way! It sounds like a challenge! “ Sacilia laughed, “ Do you think that you can show us the way? I don’t wanna get lost! Oh. My name is Sacilia, and this here is Terrel~! “

           And now, on top of everything, they seemed to know about Team Harmony. Or the Fated Project. Whatever it was called, it was scary and there were people involved. People looking for ‘Kuroneko Satou.’

           Shi put his hands on Humra’s shoulders to warn her before leaning in to whisper in her ear. “ Maybe they’re like Marion and Ayaka? “

           Though that didn’t make it any easier to swallow the sight of Terrel and Satou side by side. He was a danger to her, right? But why did he seem so sincerely worried for her right now? Shi couldn’t see auras, but it the fear and worry were seeping onto the younger Terrel’s face…

           He released Humra and focused again on standing by her side, then reached out cautiously to accept Sacilia’s hand. “ That, um… Doesn’t sound good. Have you met those scary people yourself, or…? “

          BITC H WHUT U SAY?? ITS ON

Okay this was fine. Standing up was great. Except for Satou lying. Instead of questioning it, she did take what Yoshiya said as a reminder. He was right; both Marion and Ayaka came from other times in the future….was it possible that the past people were coming here too? That could mean bad news..

“Mm..” Silently agreeing, Humra watched Sacilia and Terrel quietly. Once her lover accepted the handshake, the white-haired silently shook the thirteen-year old’s as well. Although would this mean that anything here with them could be alterable? 

Maybe to make her mother safe from Terrel or…even watching and seeing what this boy really is like and why he’s evil?? And how could she be so sure that Madoka was Akane’s bro-

well..he looked like him. So one question answered, “Why are you here…” Humra snuck in a question, praising herself from stuttering from her shaken up nerves.

          “ None of your business. “ Terrel was arguing in his own way. He didn’t want for them to give up their secrets to a pair of strangers, even if Madoka did trust them. He couldn’t shake the way that Humra and Yoshiya looked at him like they recognized... and not in a happy way. It was getting tempting to read their minds.

             At least Sacilia was being more cooperative.

          “ Well, the truth is... This might sound made-up, but we’re on the run from um... Kidnappers. W-We’re looking for our friends... Maybe you’ve seen them? “ Sacilia admitted in a whisper, “ Mikale, Renae, and Shugo...? Do those names sound familiar? “

She noticed how Terrel’s sentence trailed off and he quickly changed the topic. He was hiding a lot about his life which was understandable. You don’t go telling strangers your life story unless you were some seafood restaurant owner. 

“No, not yet. I guess you can say I’m touring but I want to get my Pokémon to Lv. 30 before I start. I heard that all the Akala Trials were around that level so I want to be prepared. It’s really exciting to think about.” 

It was her ultimate goal to take on the Pokémon League and maybe even defeat the Champion! They had heard stories about them single-handedly taking care of the Ultra Beast incident and even tamed them all!

          “ I see... Then good luck to you. That sounds like... 3rd gym or so, compared to when I was traveling Kanto. “ He found the lack of gyms around here to be refreshing, though. For the past few years, Terrel’s life had revolved around defining his self worth by how many gym badges he could collect. It had become second nature, so being somewhere that he couldn’t think about it was nice.

          “ If you don’t mind my asking, is this your first challenge of this sort? I’ve heard it’s more adventurous than collecting gym badges. “

        “ Mrs Kuroneko? “ Shi questioned Humra in a whisper. He had been suspecting it a bit, but to actually hear it from Humra… She could see auras, so if she was saying that then there was probably some truth to it. That made him even more uneasy. 

        “ Terrel wants to use your mother, though… “

           So seeing them together? That was putting up so many red flags. Shi wasn’t sure what to do, since he could hardly understand what was happening. Still, if their children could be dragged here from the future by the timecaller… Could the reverse happen too?

        “ S-Sorry… um… Y-Yes, we’re… Yoshiya and Humra… “ He started cautiously. “ So you’re friends… of Madoka’s. Of Akane’s…? “

           They could trust Akane, right?

Humra frowned, watching Terrel now. That was the man she knew just from the party. “Yes..that is my mother, and you’re not going to hurt her…” Well then, this girl was beyond reasoning now. And yet..she couldn’t leave Yoshiya just yet. He was still hurt.. so she stayed and just growled. 

“That is mom..but she..I don’t know-I don’t know why….th-this has to be a trick…Oh Shionn..” She whined worriedly at their child hanging out with ‘Sacilia’. All Humra could do was hold Yoshi’s hand shakily. Hadn’t she learned her lesson to bring her pokemon with her…. 

           As Humra seemed to be ready to go on the offensive, so was Terrel. This was all a lot for him to take in as well. ‘Sacilia’ too. It made no sense for Kuroneko Satou to be Humra’s mother: That person was thirteen years old and standing right to Terrel, right? With two Rowlet on her shoulders, but certainly no children.

        “ I could say the same to you, ‘Humra.’ Sacilia, get behind me. “

        “ Auu... “ Sacilia distressed quietly. She could see the auras of the couple across from her. They looked more scared than anything... She couldn’t quite understand why, but it seemed like Terrel and her had caused it somehow. Terrel had every reason to want to guard her, but she couldn’t shake this feeling...

           So instead of hiding behind Terrel, she stepped in front of him and offered both of her hands out to Humra and Yoshiya.

        “ Sorry, I think we’re all getting off on the wrong food. Terrel and I don’t know anyone named ‘Satou’ or ‘Kuroneko.’ “ She lied for the sake of peace... But was very obvious about it. Maybe they’d understand it was a secret? “ I don’t know who that Kuroneko Satou you know is, but um. You should tell her to be careful. There are some scaary people looking for her. “

           Humra’s tough helped ground him. Otherwise, Shi might have really fainted and died right there. He was so overwhelmed, but at least the reminder of her presence was soothing. It helped him organize his thoughts and feeling when she was there to center them on, just until he had a handle again…

           Speaking of hands and stuff. When Sacilia touched him, Shi nearly jumped out of his skin. Too close…! And who was she? He knew that voice, but how? That voice, and… that hair? She reminded him of the small woman he’d met while being ded and gone.

        “ S-Sorry…! “ For the moment, he just pulled away from her. A bit too fast. Already overwhelmed and shaking, Shi lost his own footing and clumsily toppled onto his back. Better let him go, girls. Things are already weird enough.

“Shi!” Humra tried to catch him, but even if doing so she fell as well. But she recovered well and she cooed in worry, “Shi-..a-are you okay…? Ah-oh dear..” The teen tried to at least straighten himself up..was his back okay? Humra looked and back to the girl and Terrel,

“Mom-er..no..why…wh-who are you..two..? You can’t be Terrel a-and Satou…but you…are….” Regardless, the bird was waaaaaay into defense mode and was ready to attack the young Terrel. Yoshiya didn’t need to be so startled this way! 

“Yes….I’m Humra-th-this is Yoshiya….you know that…” Humra answered with a low growl and gazing at Mint and Shion being together. There wasn’t an attack between them at all…he was fine…

        “ Sacilia. “ Terrel was partially correcting them. Also... get off that boy you just fell on, Sacilia. And be warned, Humra. You just started a fight.

           Sacilia hopped up to her feet and scurried over to Terrel, just as startled by the use of her ‘real’ name. She had both Shion and Mint on her shoulder still, but Terrel hardly noticed the baby Pokemon. It wasn’t like he was going to let them fight these two.

        “ How do you know that name? “ He asked, “ Why did you call her that? “

        “ I think that’s the name of her mother...? Kuroneko Satou, right? “ Madoka tried to, ya know. Prevent a bloodbath. “ Do you know her too, Terrel? Silly? “

This was wrong. So wrong! 

“Mother..?” Humra murmured, loosening her grip on Shion but spotted him flying to ‘Satou’. She was too awe-struck by all of this! But also why was she hitting on Shi again? No doubt he was the most handsome boy alive-let alone person-but still! Something was very off though..they were so small…their size and age-! 

“Moth-no-Terr..” She was so confused. What snapped her out of it was spotting her boyfriend not breathing. Shaking her head, the teen reached over and held Shi’s hand and laid her lavender gaze on Shion,

“Sh-Shion please come back..i-if you can….” Her eyes couldn’t rip from the two bitties. 

        “ Mother...? “ Sacilia repeated after Humra. She even looked around, but didn’t see anyone old enough to be a parent... That thought quickly left her mind anyway. The boy she had just tried to make happy with compliments was still standing like a horrified statue. Sacilia could see the fear in his aura, as well as how it twisted and faded as he almost willed himself to disappear.

           She brought Shion up to her shoulder to hang out with Mint as she reached out to touch Yoshiya’s cheeks with both her hands. “ Hey... Calm down. You’re going to be okay. Deep breathes... Close your eyes and listen to yourself, okay? “

           Coo’, no one was gonna answer his damn questions. Terrel groaned and stood where he was, letting Sacilia handle the panic attack. Then, lightly and irritably, he repeated, “ Are you the Yoshiya and Humra that Madoka told us about? “

        “ Yeah, this is them... “ Madoka confirmed, though he was more worried for Yoshi.

      “ Teh..! “ At that, Shi froze. He felt like he was about to die just from fright. Madoka was friends with someone like Terrel? But he seemed so nice! Then again, Terrel had seemed so nice back then too. Was Madoka here to hurt him, then? And Shion, and Humra…!

        “ Haa… N-No no. “ He stepped shakily in front of Humra and Shion. Shi had already screwed up once and gotten Humra hurt once, and he wasn’t making that mistake again. Especially with Shion here too! “ Terrel i-is here…!? “

Right immediately when this kid said he was Akane’s brother, Humra gasped, “B-brother–” But was interrupted by a rude awakening of the mention ‘Terrel’. Freezing with Shi was immediate and painful. Her hair ruffled up.Why would he be here? In this festival? This was really bad! 

At once, Humra held onto Shion with both her arms protectively and looked around. This was a bad time not to have Terra around-!!! 

But she looked around, regardless. No way he could be here-! “Terrel i-isn’t good-we need to get out..”

        “ Wait, do you know Terrel? “ Madoka couldn’t believe that Terrel was a bad person. Not when even his mother had given the kids the option of staying with them! She had good judgment. But, more importantly, “ Are you the friends they’re looking for? “

        “ Did someone say friends?! “ Sacilia hopped over, with her shiny Rowlet on her shoulder and Terrel in tow. Her red eyes quickly swept up to Shi and Humra... and though she was momentarily disappointed that they weren’t her long lost friends, she didn’t let it show on her face. In stead, she just giggled up at them and smiled.

        “ Oh... eheh. Madoka-san, you didn’t tell me you had such handsome friends coming to the festival! “

           Terrel bristled with slight jealousy and narrowed his own red eyes.

        “ So you must be ‘Yoshiya’ and ‘Humra?’ “

Such a crowd! It was such a lovely place with them but someone was calling out to them. Perking up, Humra spotted someone…physically similar but not aura-ly? How confusing. But also..

She was immediately on guard for both her and Shion. Glancing between this boy and her lover, Humra was quite confused, “..Huh..? Is Akane okay..? And who’re…you…?” 

    “ Yes, my brother is fine... He’s just a bit bitter about everything with Saki. “ Madoka laughed lightly. The truth was that Akane was skipping out on the festial because he hated not being here with Saki. But now wasn’t about Akane.

        “  He told me you wanted your Rowlet to meet another Rowlet? It just so happens that my friend Terrel has one! “

“Yup, he only wants the best for me.” It was strange that when they first met, Melody was the one to rescue him but now the roles have reversed. Now he was constantly looking out for her and she really appreciates it but sometimes, it causes some unnecessary conflicts. But he means the best for her and how could she hate him for that?

“Wow, that’s so far!” The trainer really wanted one but Kalos was much too far and she was happy with her current Pokémon. With her new Turtwig, she didn’t see herself getting a new Pokémon anytime soon. 

When she saw how Terrel reacted to being unable to remember what Pokémon Statue was, she quickly reassured him.

“It’s alright!” Holding Statue out to Terrel, she explained, “He’s a Ferroseed all the way from Unova. I met him when I was twelve or thirteen. He was being kicked around by a bunch of kids so I swept in and brought him all the way home. My parents were so surprised when they saw him.” the trainer chuckled before introducing herself. “It’s nice to meet you, Terrel. My name is Melody.”

      “ Ah... R-Right. Ferroseed... Unovan. I haven’t been to Unova in... “ His voice trailed off. Not since he had run away from home, actually. He wasn’t about to admit to being a runaway, though. For so many reasons... Being turned in would be troublesome all of these years later, and he was kind of ashamed of the downward slide he’d set himself on.

      “ Anyway. Nice to meet you too, Melody. I take it, uh... Are you taking this ‘Island Challenge’ thing I keep hearing about? “ Terrel himself was not currently participating. Sacilia and him were more concerned with training Pokemon that could protect them from their former captors, and help them find their friends. “ I heard kids do it as some sort... test of strength thing? Or are you just touring..? “

“I wouldn’t really call it a uniform,” he said with a small shrug. “But yea, this is what we wear.” He looked around. He hadn’t seemed to notice anyone else there until now. “I don’t really see why. I’m just sitting here. It’s not like I’m hurting anyone or anything.”

      “ Well, a good uniform does that. Scares people just by being present. “ Terrel was being a bit too smug about this. Perhaps because he was weighing the value of getting one of those uniforms right now. Back in Kanto, he’d found being a member of Team Rocket pretty comforting. It was a rare source of security for a scared kid that was used to being taken advantage of.

      “ I haven’t seen any proof of Team Skull actually doing anything very dangerous, though. Then again, I just got here. “ He shrugged, “ I’m Terrel, by the way. As you can probably tell, I’m kind of a tourist here. “

1 ) Terrel’s telepathy can drive him a bit up the wall because it is loud and usually sounds very unpleasant. But he likes the sound of Sacilia’s thought processes. When he gets stressed, she lets him tune in to her mind and use her to drown out the other thoughts: Like putting on headphones and turning up your favorite song.

2 ) The pair of them are so attached to the affectionate nicknames they’ve given each other that they will sometimes refer to themselves by the nicknames. Sacilia even pronounces her name “Sa-silly-ah” because of her nickname.

3 ) Sacilia’s sense of taste was damaged when she was younger, so she eats things with extra spice and sugar in order to enjoy them ‘normally.’ On the other hand, Terrel is especially sensitive to flavors and likes his food dulled down. Terrel and her are both terrors in the kitchen.

4 ) They share a Holocaster because they trust one another to respect the other’s privacy. They’ve never had a problem, since their relationship is very communicative already.

5 ) The clothing Sacilia wears come from her mother’s fashion line. She only wants to wear her mother’s designs, in order to pretend her mother is picking her clothes and dressing her. Terrel has no fashion sense outside of Sacilia’s help.
