Hi, I've been offline a bit recently so please feel free to ignore this because idk what week it is but I don't think it's question answering week yet

What would the Eliksni word for a bakery, and its associated products, be? Such as bread, cakes, pastries, etc etc (or whatever the closest equivalent would be for them)

Man, this one stretched my creative muscles! I had nothing related to this topic, and it wasn't one I had ever considered before, truthfully.

I had to do a lot of research into etymologies of the various words you requested in several different languages to get inspiration. I'll be a little more detailed in my thought process here since I had to make so much from scratch and want to talk about it in depth.

First, I made the verb "to bake", ordris. From there, I decided to create a noun ending that denotes "a place where an action happens". I derived this from the word for place, priist, and settled on pri. So "bakery" is ordrispri.

The words for baked goods were a little harder.

I made the word for a dessert, paf, and then decided that the word for any kind of sweet thing made in an oven is orrhapaf, lit. "fire-cake". The word for fire is orrha (fun fact: both the verbs for "to bake" and "to melt" come from this word). So both cake and pastry are covered by this one word. I suppose if you wanted to get particular about the difference between them (which I don't know off the top of my head lol, I can barely cook an egg), you could talk about shape or fillings or size, but for the purposes of this ask, I'll be leaving it there.

Bread gets its own word: chei. (second fun fact: did you know the etymology for bread is complicated and disputed??? i am confounded as to the linguistic origins of fucking bread. I think my word will be related to the verb for "to rise" in the sense of bread rising as it bakes.)

Bakery: ordrispri

Bread: chei

Dessert: paf

Cake/Pastry/Any baked sweet: orrhapaf

It occured to me that I may be the only person who does this, but…

I feel like if I don’t write the whole fic, there’s a higher risk that I don’t finish it and I don’t want to leave people hanging.

#toc was a complete final to first draft state when it released. not everything was done but the skeleton was there #and then it grew legs as it went on #devils claw i have absolutely no fucking clue what's going on. would love to know some day

Honestly? My main piece of advice for writing well-rounded characters is to make them a little bit lame. No real living person is 100% cool and suave 100% of the time. Everyone's a little awkward sometimes, or gets too excited about something goofy, or has a silly fear, or laughs about stupid things. Being a bit of a loser is an incurable part of the human condition. Utilize that in your writing.

30 Uncommon Character Development Questions ( send me a number )

Have they ever been so overwhelmed they had to stop and take a break from something? 

Are they a team player or do they prefer to be solo?

Can they multi-task or must they focus on one subject at a time?

What are their best school subjects? What are their worst? List five of each.

Is your character an introvert or an extrovert? How do they handle big crowds of people?

Are they a leader, do they prefer to follow, or would they rather just stay on the sidelines altogether?

If your character was suddenly challenged, would they rather run away or stay and fight?

If your character was allowed to murder one person without any consequences, who would that person be and why?

Your character has been granted 3 wishes; what would they wish for and why?

Does your character trust people right off the bat or does it take them some time to warm up to someone?

Do they prefer romance or affection? What is the quickest way to your character’s heart?

Does your character have any enemies? If so, who and why?

Do they have any weird bedroom habits? Any unusual kinks?

How does your character prepare for bed? Do they sleep at all or can they stay awake for days on end without trouble?

If your character had one thing to say to their parents before they died, what would it be?

Are they afraid of death? Do they have any regrets?

Does your character get restless when things are too quiet or do they favour solitude and silence? Why?

Finally; if your character was forced to eat one thing for the rest of their life, what would they choose and why?

I'm growing tired of how life just kind of happens and you can't plan for anything. Everywhere online I see about intentionality and goal setting and grinding and it doesn't work. It just doesn't. I'm here white knuckling everything. And around that I fit space crabs in...somehow.

I used to have a lot of canon URLs just for the sake of having them, and this was one I held on to after Tumblr banned me for having multiple URLs. There's actually no real significance to it other than that! It just conveniently happens to match up with Siriks I guess, even though it's the name of a Forsaken era Reef weapon.

It was pretty much a compulsion to show something to the world and show people what I could do, honestly. I grew up reading fic and was so impressed by a lot of it, eventually leading me to claw my way up to improving my own writing and publishing. It's to get ideas out of my head and on to paper so I can do something with them.

If something is too hard or you're hitting too many obstacles, you're doing the wrong thing. You need to turn around and try again. It might be that you're going about something the wrong way, or that specific something could be the thing that's wrong and isn't meant to be.

I love when people have an insight or share their views on something a character has done. It leads to so many interesting avenues being opened up that I'd never considered before!

I forgot every character I ever hated, and also don't want to go into witness protection right now.

🧩 ⇢ what will make you click away from a fanfiction immediately?

First person perspective UNLESS the prose is done well. Honestly prose construction is everything to me and I'm incredibly picky. If something doesn't read right to me then I can't get through it or I enjoy it a lot less. There's no hard or fast guidelines to this. Sometimes things just don't stick with me.

“This piece is from the ‘Rain-and-Sauce’ era of humanity’s development,” Ursaviks stops in front of a painting of two humans leaning over the bank of a deep blue river, with a three headed dog lying beneath the scene. The person closest to the riverside holds another, smaller human by its ankle, dangling them in the water. “One of Solkis’s humans was a historian. They spoke of this painting showing the mother of Akileuks, and how she blessed him with strength.” Wesraaks cannot even pretend to understand the picture and its significance to humanity, nor how Akileuks and the small human could be connected.

As established in a recent Devil's Claw chapter, she's known him forever. Same Ketch, same crew (for all of three weeks), same general vicinity and orbit around each other due to Ursaviks's interest in them both. But they didn't actually get to know one another properly until about a century later, when Eramis saw him in a pub. It was a very cliche locking eyes across the bar situation - Taniks by then was more as we see him in canon, and had grown into a very handsome young man.

They fucked nasty in the alleyway after a few drinks together.

What compelled them?

Unclear. Best not explored. But the rest was history from then on.
