The new Disney+ series, “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” will premiere on 3 Disney networks before it launches on the streaming service. The first episode will air on Disney Channel, ABC, and Freeform on Nov. 8 at 8 pm (ET & PT). The series will then run on Disney+ when the platform launches Nov. 12. Only the first episode will be shown on the 3 networks.
The series’ first season will have 10 episodes, and has already been renewed for a second season even before the first one airs. Its cast includes Joshua Bassett, Olivia Rodrigo, and Sofia Wylie (from Andi Mack).
joshuarush - @theebillyporter is an EXPERIENCE and was so kind to talk to me at the @equalityutah gala last night. Before his (AMAZING) show and speech, he spoke to a group of us about how it’s easy for queer people to run to spaces that already accept us—the LA, SF, NYCs of the world—but the places where we who are out, proud, and comfortable in our own sexuality should go is places like Utah, where homophobia, discrimination, and even evil practices like conversion therapy are still alive and well. By going to these spaces, being loud and proud and our authentic selves, hopefully we can inspire a new generation of LGBTQ+ people to live out of the shadows, being the incredible, proud people they were made to be. I was so honored to get to meet you, Billy! Your words, your fight, and your amazing performance will stick with me forever.
The following is set in a fictional world in late 2020 when an Andi Mack movie airs on Disney Channel. The story includes a time jump so it begins one year after Andi’s party in ‘We Were Here.”
Cyrus and TJ are sitting on a bench in the park.
Cyrus: It’s hard to believe it’s been one year since Andi’s party.
TJ: I’ll say. That was a major event – the day we became boyfriends.
Cyrus: I’m glad we waited until the next day to have our first kiss so it would be private.
TJ: You’re right – that was a wonderful time. And we can never forget our first date.
Cyrus: The most romantic and chaotic day of my life. And it was around that time we came out to our classmates, and to our parents.
TJ: Remember my parents reaction? Who could have expected that?
Cyrus: It was both awful and hilarious.
TJ: Good times, good times.
Cyrus: We’d better take off now or we’ll be late to class.
do you think cyrus or tj would have used the word gay in season 4?
If, and it’s a very big if, we ever heard the word gay being used again I think it would have been a one time thing and only used when Cyrus comes out to his parents. It really depends on whether TJ is in that ep or not. If TJ has tragically moved away early in S4 then Cyrus probably can come out to his parents by telling them he’s gay. But if Cyrus is actually allowed to date TJ on screen then it’s more likely that Cyrus just comes out to his parents by telling them he’s dating TJ. I don’t think Terri could get both Cyrus using the word gay again to come out to his parents and introducing TJ to his parents as his boyfriend approved; it would have been one or the other. We certainly wouldn’t have seen TJ coming out to his parents nor do I think we would have ever gotten TJ saying the word gay.
Guardian News: “‘You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words,’ climate activist Greta Thunberg has told world leaders at the 2019 UN climate action summit in New York.”
When do you think TJ and Cyrus started liking each other?
For TJ it was a crush at first sight story or at least very close to it. He was definitely softer with Cyrus in the muffin scene than he had been with anyone else on the show but I think it’s undeniable that he for sure had a crush on Cyrus by the end of the first swing set scene especially since TJ was being so flirty right from the start. Similar to how Marty was clearly interested if not outright crushing on Buffy right from the party in 1x04. With the writing and the acting and the cinematography of the swing set scene all designed to launch Tyrus it’s no surprise that Tyrus went from crackship to a big ship after 2x11 aired.
As for Cyrus, it was more of a friends to lovers story line and he didn’t realize he had a crush on TJ until 2x25 after the apology rap, when Buffy tells him she’s confused and he replies that she should take a walk through his head. There was certainly a strong connection between them from the start but I think for Cyrus that the spoon and somersault scenes in 2x21 were the turning point coming as they did right before he realized that his crush on Jonah was gone.
