Happy Wednesday, Constant Readers! If you need a little deadline reminder, the Week 2 prompt, "POV," will be open until the end of today, September 8, at 8 PM Pacific time.
In honor of a sweet new year, as well as Loki's complex multiversal relationship with candy, this week's prompt is:
Sweet
You can interpret the prompt however you like. There is a soft limit of 1,000 words per work, though you can write as many as you want for a given prompt.
You have the choice to post your fic in the AO3 collection and/or on tumblr or any other site; if you aren’t using the AO3 collection, you can send a submission with a link to your story so that others can find it here.
Your deadline to post stories for this week’s prompt is Wednesday, September 15 at 8 PM Pacific time. Have fun!

"Do you like kittens, Bucky?" Loki asked almost innocently with a big smile and a big box in his hands.
“I do....” Bucky said. “What’s the catch?”

Whump aesthetic
Two whumpees sitting back to back, wrists bound behind them, the chains connected so they can’t really turn around to look at one another, shoulder blades touching as they recline against the only reliable thing in the room – each other –, their heads hanging back on the other’s shoulder.

So potentially controversial opinion but: the Hulk isn’t dumb.
Or at least, there’s no reason that he should be; logically, he should be as “smart” as Bruce.
Now, when I say “smart,” that’s not to indicate that the Hulk always has access to the same myriad of knowledge Bruce does, because that’s clearly not the case. I’m talking about the basic potential for intelligence, rather than the specific learned knowledge Bruce has acquired over the years.
A lot of the time, it’s easy for people to assume that the Hulk isn’t very intelligent, but this is usually attributed to what, in his case, are his more childlike qualities; his basic use of language, his limited attention span, his emotional dysregulation, and so on. But none of those qualities make someone “dumb” or inherently limit intelligence, and, frankly, it would be offensive to suggest so.
Hulk is canonically Banner’s repressed, angry child self, and we have to remember that both Bruce and the Hulk came from the same hyperintelligent, precocious little boy. There’s comic evidence of Bruce showing off his intellect as a toddler, long before Bruce and the Hulk and all of the other Banner alters would’ve existed as concrete separate identifies.
It stands to reason, then, that the Hulk actually, even without access to Bruce’s knowledge, has great potential in areas of logical and spatial reasoning (as these seem to be Banner’s strong suits and probably always have been).
However, we don’t necessarily ever see that, because, well; Hulk is often too busy for math or logical puzzles. He’s constantly being hunted and persecuted, and even when he isn’t, he’s still usually only brought out when Bruce feels threatened, and said threat usually keeps him occupied.
And if he ever were presented with that type of puzzle or problem (without Bruce co-con there to help), his emotional dysregulation would likely lead to him becoming frustrated and aggressive if he had trouble understanding something, preventing further intellectual growth through experience.
So, yeah, Hulk isn’t dumb, he just doesn’t have a lot of opportunities to display or develop his innate intelligence because of his unique situation.
(Also, there’s lots of different kinds of intelligence. All of the Banner alters likely have spatial and logical intelligences, but Bruce and the Hulk in particular both seem to struggle with things like emotional intelligence).

Jarvis.
Humanity is dead, but the AI military supercomputer still carries on fighting the enemy. The automated shipyards can build a new drone-corvette in only minutes, yet still a bottle of Champagne is smashed over each ship's bow. After all, their traditions are all that it has left to keep alive.

supervillain whumper and villain whumpee being exploited bc of the information sv needs
"What is this?" Villain seethed, pulling against the cuffs around their wrists. The cuffs that were currently preventing them from touching their powers.
Sprawled in a large chair, almost a throne, Supervillain studied them, a small frown on their face. They waved a hand, dismissing Villain's anger. "Consider it an insurance policy, old friend."
Villain snarled at them, eyes darting around the room, the same familiar calculating look in them. "Don't you dare 'old friend' me now. Not when you had me kidnapped, stolen from my apartment in the dead of night, and then clapped me in chains."
Supervillain gave them a soothing smile, but it did little to assuage them. "Worry not, friend. I simply needs some critical information, for my next nefarious scheme." They smirked at that, barely holding back a chuckle.
Villain arched a brow. "Information?" they repeated, suspicious. "What sort? You know I share what I know when I can."
Super villain waved them off again. "Not information from you," they clarified. "I need info from Hero." Their smirk grew. "You're simply my bargaining chip."

I have this idea to write a fix-it fic for MCU not caring about Loki's powers where Loki is all powerful but after Thor 1 he is insecure and traumatized even if he won't admit it and he uses daggers instead of magic to sort of keep proving he can do battle and not tricks and show to Thor he changed.
Naturally in the end Loki finds new found family that's not abusive and helps him embrace his magic and Loki does some fucking crazy display that has everyone go "oh mu god im so glad he likes us" and r.i.p thor.

He looks weird. Blue, with horns, and a weird aura emanating from him that screams power. He is almost naked, in just green leggings that are riddled with holes, and no one seems to notice him.
"Water." He asks. "Can you get me some water?"
"Fuck no." Tony answers but he brings the bottle from his bag as he kneels next to the god (alien? creature? person?) anyway, offering it to him. "I'm calling the hospital."
"That's not how it works, mortal." He (it?) answers, gulping down the water, but Tony is already rattling down the address to the ambulance. "I've been cast out to die."
"Fucking try me."
Later he sits by the bed of the god, whose condition was declared stable, and wonders what the hell did he just begun.
Newsflash it was never the hospital and always your faith that revived him, fucker!
One day, when walking home from work, you make a mistake. You give a last kindness to a dying god, and in return, it grants a wish you never wanted granted.

THIS IS GENIUS AND AMAZING AND NEEDS TO BE WRITTEN
sudden iron husbands promt:
I had an idea for a while of a soulmate au where you have a name of your soulmate on your skin but it’s not necessarily a given name but the name person will be most known as. Which sets some interesting plot bunnies.
So. Rhodey has ‘Tony Stark’ written on his wrist. He’s kinda apprehensive about it but tries to be open-minded and not assume anything, being a good person and everything. He meets Tony at mit 2 weeks in the first semester, and Tony’s a kid, very drunk, a total mess, and changed a couple of roommates already. Don’t you worry, he says first thing they meet, you’ll get rid of me soon enough. But Rhodey’s already in taking care mode, so he just answers ‘we’ll see’ and drags him to shower so he wouldn’t be too much hungover at first lecture.
It’s not a good time to talk about the whole soulmates business so he doesn’t, but that evening he brings up the question...
Tony says, all fake nonchalance, that his mark is ‘War Machine’. Fitting for a weapons manufacturer, huh? Lucky him, not even getting anchored with a real person.
Rhodey’s surprised, honestly, at how much exactly he’s feeling hurt and disappointed. But Tony’s a kid and a mess and required soulmates are quite rare actually, so.
Couple of decades later they joke about someone going around with ‘Iron man’ on their wrist.
When he gets his new suit to his bosses, there’s a lot of fussing around. Everyone marvels at the suit. There are plans for equipping a lot of soldiers with this technology — pity’s the suit seems to only fit one person and be voice activated and completely unhackable. At the evening some people are joking around, trying new names, cooler the better.
When Rhodey first hears their excited ‘we got it! War Machine! Metal as fuck, right?’ he really, really feels like an idiot.
