I'm begging other trans people to read an ounce of Black Feminist or Decolonialist Feminist writing. I'm on my hands and knees and begging you. I promise you, I promise you, there is so much more to Feminist theory than anything you have picked up from White/Radical/Pop/Liberal Feminism I promise you. Read There Is No Hierarchy Of Oppressions By Audre Lorde. I have a link to the PDF right here you can read it for free. Take my hand I can't do this alone (thanks glass beach). Peace And Love On Planet Earth.

🔹 Saying that it's okay to write or read about dark and taboo topics but only when they're portrayed in a certain way is still censorship.
🔹 Wanting to ban or forbid media that you believe portrays a negative topic in a positive light, by glorifying, romanticizing, or fetishizing it is still censorship.
🔹 There is no objective metric to decide if a story is portraying a negative topic the 'right' way.
🔹 Just because a piece of fiction doesn't explicitly condemn or portray an evil action in a bad light in the text doesn't mean the author thinks its good or is trying to persuade the audience that it is good.
🔹 Survivors of trauma will not always write fiction about their trauma in a way that seems 'right' or 'normal' to you.
🔹 Banning fiction because it portrays dark, taboo topics in a way you consider gross or disgusting is still censorship.

I was saying to Emet earlier that one of the big things I was worried about with this fucking Kristi Noem thing was that she was trying to present this as "a rural thing"
Like "oh you city people just don't understand, this is just how it is in rural places"
And I really didn't want to see this just accepted by the news media, most of whom have never lived anywhere rural, as just "how we are"
Like, no, absolutely not, we don't just fucking shoot dogs bc they aren't good at being hunting dogs. Everybody I've ever personally known who hunts with dogs knows that a dog that is a bad hunting dog may be a great family pet. It's clear that people like that must exist - she's a person, after all - but it's not just How Things Are.
There are enough bad stereotypes about Rural People. We don't need more.
However, I have been relieved to see that a bunch of places covering this have had people on who grew up in rural places & who were pushing back on this hard, saying exactly that: no, this isn't normal.
Ugh.

in light of police across the country cracking down on pro palestine protests with brutal force, it feels like a great time to remind everyone to shut the fuck up around cops. don't make small talk, dont act friendly, don't fucking engage with them!! if you are arrested DO NOT speak without a lawyer present. protest organizers, get into contact with local pro bono lawyers who can be there for your arrested comrades. no matter what, if cops are there, shut the fuck up unless you are actively doing a protest chant. dont tell cops why you were there, dont tell them if you're affiliated with the school you may be protesting at, dont tell them if you came there with anyone, dont tell them anything!!!

World Building: Creative Minds of Remnant (Artists and Musicians)
I felt need to make these known to the public since they are the ones mentioned the most when people talk about creativity / famous family.
Authors:
Calypso Araminté: A faunus author in her late 30s. She is originally from Atlas and is Dublin Araminté's mother. She writes a lot of books targeted at younger audiences since she has five children, but she is currently working on an autobiographical piece.
Lewis Liddell: An old man from Vacuo in his late 70s. He is the author of the famous tale "The Girl Who Fell Through The World", but he would never share where his inspiration for the story came from.
Iris Maldives: A woman from Atlas in her mid-60s. She is the headmistress of Pagonia Academy in Atlas. She is one of the minds responsible for writing the textbooks that are used for Atlas Bylaws classes.
Quentin Flores: A man from Mistral in his late 70s. He is the headmaster of Haven Academy. He is one of the minds responsible for writing the textbooks that are used for Human Anatomy classes.
The author(s) for the Fairy Tales of Remnant are not known to the world, but they have been compiled in a collection by a pair of brothers named William and Jameson Craven. Both are from Vale and are in their mid-50s.
Musicians / Composers:
Grayson Flamel: A young man born in Vacuo; currently in his late teens. He is one of the most well-known musicians in the world of Remnant, having risen to fame quickly following his debut.
Jasper Lyall: A young woman born in Atlas and raised in Vacuo; currently in her late teens. She is not as popular as her father (Phoenix) or half-brother (Grayson), but she did release a few songs alongside her friends (Grayson, Chrono, and Onyx) that gained traction in Vacuo specifically.
Phoenix Lyall: A man from Atlas in his late 30s. He started his music career whilst living in Atlas, but his music really took off when he began living in Vacuo. He is only known in Vacuo.
Nix Flamel: A former musician from Vacuo. She is deceased. Her music career met an early end after she became a mother to her children Grayson and Silvia.
Aera Belladonna (Rea Lancaster): A woman initially from Atlas, but she moved to Menagerie with her husband and started a family there. Despite not being a musician in her own right, she did begin selling her musical compositions to publishing companies under an alias - Rea Lancaster.
Mari Aurum: A young woman from Vacuo in her late teens. She is a student at Shade Academy, but has a flourishing music career. She has decided to take a break from music because of her young daughter as well as being a huntress-in-training.
Charm Family Band: The Charm family is a family of musicians that performed exclusively in Vacuo at small gigs in their hometown. The band disbanded after the death of the family's patriarch.
CRMZ (Crimson): CRMZ is a band comprised of four students currently attending Shade Academy. They formed in Oscuro Academy, but did not have as much success as the band formed by a group of upperclassmen. At present, they are the most well-known Vacuan musical act behind Grayson Flamel and Mari Aurum.
There are more musicians, but these are the ones that are named.

World Building: Dust / The Dust Industry
CW: Mentions of death. — This post is all about Dust and the Dust industry in Remnant.
According to legends and fables, Dust was harnessed as a way to make the fight between mankind and Grimm a little more even. Dust, in its own right, is a form of the magic that some fables and legends speak of mankind possessing. Mankind today cannot use magic, obviously, so Dust and semblances are the next best things.
With the discovery and utilization of Dust, mankind was able to fend off the Grimm enough to start forming civilizations. Dust became integrated in every part of life for these civilizations. It was used for a source of power in addition to still being used in weaponry. Despite its utility, the origins of Dust are widely unknown to mankind.
Dust was the cause of a huge turning point in the Great War. Vacuo, being rich in Dust mines and deposits, was targeted by Mantle (Atlas) and Mistral. However, before Mantle and Mistral could get to it, the King of Vale and the Black Knight of Vacuo (Sable Flamel) were able to stop them. The two were able to stop the war with this foiled invasion.
After the Great War ended, Callum Schnee (a young Dust miner and Mantle's White Knight) went back to mining in the dwindling Mantle Dust mines. Despite his service in the war, Callum didn't have a lot of money. His children, Gwyneira (Gwyn; born before the end of the Great War) and Nicholas (Nick; born after the end of the Great War) wanted a better life than what their father had. But, they were not sure how to accomplish this in a broken and poor Kingdom.
On the other side of the coin, another man decided to make a living off of Dust. Despite fighting for the Vacuan side in the Great War, the Black Knight (Sable) was a Mantle native (born in the City of Atlas). He started the Flamel Dust Company (FDC), but kept his identity as Vacuo's Black Knight hidden from Mantle. It would ruin his company if word about this got out. He had a business-oriented brain and had a lot of luck with being one of the first to have the idea of selling Dust.
After Callum died from a combination of old battle wounds and years of being a Dust miner, he passed what little wealth he had down to his son Nick. Nick began a business to sell and refine Dust called the Schnee Dust Company (SDC) following his success in locating places for new Dust mines in Mantle. Unfortunately, Nick was not a great businessman and neither was his father. Nick's older sister Gwyn had a knack for business, but had cut ties with her family after marrying her husband Murdoch 6-7 years prior to Callum's death. Nick was hopeful that he could find some way to keep his company afloat. His Dust shops were fairly successful, but not successful enough to balance out his previous debts.
After a few years of barely getting by, Nicholas came up with an idea to help keep his company above water. His daughter, Willow, was growing into a beautiful and intelligent young lady. She was only 15, but Nick needed an idea fast. Life was shorter than most thought. So, he reached out to Sable Flamel with a prospective merger. He offered that Sable's eldest grandson, Grayson Flamel (who was the same age as Willow), could marry his daughter Willow, effectively merging the two companies.
At first, Sable seemed to be alright with this merger. After all, it would give him a monopoly on the Dust industry in Remnant. However, his grandson had other plans after he began attending Atlas Academy and fell in love with a Faunus girl... and a Belladonna no less. With children soon to come out of their union, Sable had to back out of the prospective merger. Left to find his own way to save the SDC, Nick was lost and worried that his company would soon go bankrupt. That was until his intelligent daughter fell in love with an intelligent young man named Jacques....
And the rest is history.
[[[An explanation: I placed Willow as being the eldest of Team RWBY's parents at likely her mid to late 40s. Because of this, she would have been the same age as our player characters and Nicholas at about the same age as the parents of our characters. This fits with the confirmed information we have on Nicholas of him being the son of a "Dust miner turned solider" and being born "after the Great War" (as heard in the World of Remnant episode about the SDC).]]]
