Week 6 Football Updates
A little excitement, some upsets and some dominance.
* A game without any second half scoring. Michigan scored enough in the first quarter to give them a close victory over Iowa, 10-3
* A slight upset for the week. Florida, with their second string quarter back throttled Auburn and sent them home with a 24-13 loss.
* UNC showed some dominance and held Ga. Tech scoreless in the first half. Tech fell to UNC at home to the tune of 38-22
* Ohio State is continuing to improve each week. In dominating fashion, they sent Michigan State home with a 34-10 beating.
* Georgia struggled in the first half and Tennessee came out to play. In the end Georgia made some great half time adjustments and the beat down in Knoxville played a 43-14 Rocky Flop.

Week 5 Football Updates
We are still seeing the schools that are separating themselves to prove who are the real contenders this year.
* Jalen Hurts had a huge game as Oklahoma routed Texas Tech to the tune of 55-16.
* Mississippi played a good game, for the first quarter. Alabama opened a can on them starting in the second quarter and sent them home with a 59-31 loss.
* Notre Dame made some great half-time adjustments to pull away from a close first half. Virginia played hard but, left with a 35-20 loss.
* I’m not sure that Connecticut remembered that they had a game on Saturday. UCF put a beat down on them with a 56-21 victory.
* MS State and Auburn wasn’t even close. Auburn was all over them from the opening kick. State tucked tail and went home with a 56-23 shellacking.
[Clemson and UNC may have been the best game of the week. Mack Brown is doing a great job with the team at Chapel Hill]

Week 4 Football Updates
Sorry, running a little late with updates, scores and a new list of games. However, last weekend was loads of fun, especially if your team won!! I believe we are starting to see who the real contenders are this year.
* It looked like Wisconsin was going to run away with the game Saturday. Michigan was able to score a couple times in the second half to make the score seem respectable. In the end, Wisconsin rolled over Michigan to the tune of 35-14.
* Honestly, I would not have been surprised to see Tennessee pull an upset over Florida. Also, I would have found great joy in that ending. Florida was having no part of becoming the laughing stock and sent Tennessee home after a 34-3 drumming.
* Auburn continued to show their dominance in the western side of the SEC. They took their hard fought 28-20 road win home to build on.
* UCF joined the ranks of the “not unbeaten” and took a long ride home after the first big upset of the year. Pittsburgh claimed the victory with a 35-34 late game score.
* One of the best games ever televised. As a Georgia fan, I enjoyed the win after a hard fought game. Notre Dame proved that they can play ball with the “big boys” this year. I still don’t think it’s fair to schools that play conference championships but,  they are definitely a team to be reckoned with. The heavy weight match up also proved that the Dawgs are real this year with a 23-17 win over the Irish.

College Football Week 4
This week should start producing some “real” games! As few teams continue with the weaker part of their schedule we’ll see some start to show their dominanace over tougher opponents. Some of the games should be close match ups while others give the opportunity to show if they are the “real deal” or not.
* Michigan (11) vs. Wisconsin (13)
* Tennessee vs. Florida (9)
* Auburn (8) vs. Texas A&M (17)
* UCF (15) vs. Pittsburgh
* Notre Dame (7) vs. Georgia (3)

Week 3 Comments
Alabama was challenged ever so slightly. Extending their win streak, they sent South Carolina home after beating them 47-23
Indiana was no match for Ohio State. The Buckeyes will run into some competition in the coming weeks. Either way, Ohio State beat up on the Hoosiers 51-10
I really felt that Stanford and UCF would be a closer match up. UCF rolled to a 45-27 victory.
Kentucky, with a second string quarterback, proved that Florida is not a top 10 team. Florida lost their quarterback for the remainder of the season but squeezed out a win to the tune of 29-21.
Iowa State almost pulled the upset but, came up 2 points short. Iowa barely pulled out a win of 18-17 against their rival.

2019 NY6 Prognostication: Week 4
Welcome to week 4. The Playoff field hasn’t changed a whole lot (at all) since the start of the year. The way I see it, there are 6 serious contenders (Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Clemson, Ohio State, and Oklahoma) and that’s about it.
However, the second level, where we’ll draw the rest of the NY6 field has changed, especially in a few conferences. The PAC-12 is a giant question mark. There a a few favorites, but nobody has established themselves as ahead of the pack. After Clemson, the ACC is in complete disarray. I have very little idea who’s going to the Orange Bowl if (when?) the Tigers make the Playoff. The Big 12 race is in a similar spot if Texas isn’t a breakout.
Cotton Bowl: 13-0 UCF vs 10-2 Florida
UCF I think gets the benefit of the doubt at this point. It helped that they thrashed Stanford in Week 3. That bodes well for yet another undefeated regular season. Will Florida hit double digit wins without Felipe Franks? I’m not sure, but I don’t think anybody comes and replaces the Gators as the #2 team in the East. Maybe they lose to Auburn now, but it’s hard to say so early on.
Fiesta Bowl (semifinal): 13-0 Clemson vs 12-1 Ohio State
Yawn
Peach Bowl (semifinal): 13-0 Alabama vs 12-1 Oklahoma
About as exciting a matchup as you can get with the usual suspects, if nothing else than the Jalen vs Tua thing.
Orange Bowl: 9-4 Virginia vs 11-1 LSU
It would be so cool to see Virginia in an Orange Bowl. After everything the Cavaliers have been through this would be a huge step for them as a program and a huge vindication for Bronco Mendenhall’s rebuild. They’d get vaporized by LSU, but that’s expected.
Rose Bowl: 11-2 Washington vs 10-3 Wisconsin
The PAC-12 is a damn mess, but for whatever reason I think Washington is still gonna win it. Wisconsin has the toughest cross-division schedule in the Big Ten West but so far the Badgers look good enough to push through.
Sugar Bowl: 12-1 Georgia vs 9-4 Texas
Can lighting strike twice? Probably not, but by the end of the year who knows? Maybe Texas can get even better than the early returns suggest.

Week 2 comments
Week 2 of college football had some more interesting games. A few surprises still happened and some truly dominating performances were on display!
1) Clemson earned a hard fought victory over Texas A&M. Both teams played well, but Clemson came out with a 24-10 win in the end.
2) A real classic with LSU and Texas. Two schools that seem to have a lot of dislike for one another. A high scoring shoot out that ended with LSU on top winning the late game 45-38.
3) Nebraska just could not hold off the late charge of Colorado. A 24 point 4th qtr. by Colorado carried the game to overtime, resulting in a 34-31 win for Colorado.
4) USC used the second half to open up a narrow lead from half time. They held Stanford scoreless in the second half and earned a 45-20 win.
5) Notre Dame just has more athletes and power than Louisville throttling them in a 35-17 win on Monday night.
* Side notes - Alabama delivered a dominating performance as did the University of Georgia. Not discrediting their competition, but the two schools should have dominated those wins. Tennessee Vols are still trying to find their way after an overtime loss to BYU.

Week 1 comments
* Well, week 1 held some surprises, expected outcomes and relatively just good game. In all, week 1 was a load of fun!
1) Clemson delivered as expected with a beat down against Georgia Tech. Clemson will continue their upward trend as the season progresses. Tech. will continue their rebuild process.
2) Virginia Tech. And Boston College was a close match up. Both schools performed fairly well with Boston College holding on to win 35-28
3) Mack Brown stepped out of retirement to return home to the UNC Tarheels. The Tarheels fight through what was a fairly sloppy game for both schools to win 24-20 over South Carolina. The win snapped a 22 year opening game losing streak to Power Five schools.
4) An experienced Georgia team played relatively conservative. The defense throttled Vanderbilt and held them to 2 field goals. Vanderbilt has a team that never gives up forcing Georgia to work all the way to end to hold onto their 30-6 win.
5) Early on it seemed that Oregan was going to impose their will against Auburn. Auburn is a school with a vast amount of pride and will not throw in the towel. Their never say die attitude left them with a chance in the last 15 seconds of the game. Auburn did not disappoint, but took advantage of the opportunity and scored the go ahead with mere seconds left to hold onto for a 27-21 win.
* On a side note - Tennessee was absolutely embarrassed at home with an opening loss, after being heavily favored. To add insult to injury, UT wrote a check for $950,000 to be stunned!

College Football Week 1
·        The Florida and Miami football game was barely worth watching. Two horrible teams that couldn’t get out of their own way! Before their next games there is a huge amount of work to be done by both schools. I understand rival games and the fact that you never know how they may turn out but come on guys. Both teams have a lot of growing up to do and figuring out how to channel their emotions and athleticism into becoming what both schools are capable of.
 ·        Let’s look at some other games this week, let me know what you think.
 §  Georgia Tech Vs. Clemson (1)
§  Virginia Tech Vs. Boston College
§  South Carolina Vs. UNC
§  Georgia (3) Vs. Vanderbilt
§  Oregon (11) Vs. Auburn (16)
