Welcome to Adventure Time News

Hello, @j4gm here.

I used to report pretty heavily on the Adventure Time comics and other upcoming media on my main blog, but since Adventure Time ended there hasn't been much coming out. With the announcement of the new line of Oni Press comics and the second season of Fionna and Cake, I want to continue reporting on the franchise!

News updates will now be posted here, on adventure-time-news, instead of on my main blog. The folks who followed me for Adventure Time initially now have a more focused blog to follow if they're not interested in my other ramblings and reblogs :p

Have you gotten to watch the scavengers reign premiere yet? The show is blowing me away

Yeah, I finally watched it yesterday! I'm not sold on the plot or characters yet, but we're only 1/4th into the show so it's early. I do wish there was less dialogue akin more to the original short, but it's definitely been a visual feast! I would def like to make a video about it after the show concludes. I'm so glad Scavengers Reign got made, but I dunno how much promotion from Max it's even gonna get. I had to scroll through a bunch of crap added since the merger with Discovery before even finding it.

Not to seem pushy but any plans to do reviews for the rest of Fionna and Cake?

I'm gonna keep plugging away at them. It's just a continued case of depression kicking my ass. "The Star" review is pretty close to being finished.

What were your thoughts on the reveal of Jerry? Did you suspect anything before he was shown, or were you surprised/caught off guard?

I thought the odd static backgrounds (like the sky) would have something to do with Jerry, so I was not anticipating the Lich because that red herring majorly distracted me.

Random fact: They did a study on courtship and mating behavior of American alligators at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm in the early 1980's. This study revealed that, among other things, the majority of alligator sex is gay

Some Fionna and Cake Deities! I tried to build off the designs of Cosmic Owl and Prismo, some built out of light and intangible stuff like magnetism, gravity, electricity etc, also The God Lard.

BMO's mask was inspired by this cool shot from Arcane Sorcerer (a top 10 movie for me!) and Lich stuff is always fun. At one point I was really gunning for all the Jerry-World plants/grass to be floppy haha, and Lich stuff is always fun to do.

haha I was playing a lot of Elden Ring around here. "Stuff on stuff" design mentality.

any early feelings on the finale? liked it? not? expecting a follow up?

Still processing the Fionna & Cake finale; only saw it like an hour ago. I thought it was cute, but it didn't blow me away. The last 2 episodes might(?) end up my least favorite, but that's not saying too much since all the other episodes were so good.
