To new witches;
Aight so I been a practicing witch for about 6 years now, and it's almost Halloween. I know it's a trend for people to go to cemeteries, so lemme just give some ground rules and advice:
Never vandalize or deface the cemetery
Bring gifts/offerings
Don't sit/lean on headstones
Don't break into a cemetery, if it's closed it's closed
A cemetery is a place of remembrance and tranquility, NOT your hangout to get drunk, high, and to fuck around excessively
If you want to do spirit work do it safely and make sure you're protected
That's pretty much it, if anyone feels the need to add anything go ahead

So scientists have found gravitational waves, and I’d like to take the opportunity to talk to you guys about how I feel this impacts magic.
Magic is real. It is the manipulation of energies in the world. It is us these tiny, cosmic blips reaching out in the fabric of existence and imposing our will. It is atoms restructuring atoms, energy changing the flow and movement of energy. We are told so often that magic isn’t real, that these forces can’t exist, and yet we are just now finding solid proof of things that were as yet unproven.
We knew gravity was real. Obviously we haven’t flown off the planet and into the far reaches of space. SOMETHING was doing it. It was known. We weren’t solid on the actual workings though. Now we know. Now we can see it. Now its tangible to people.
In “olden times” healers used herbs and it was magic. And then we learned about chemical compounds and somehow decided that made it less magical. We discovered the placebo effect and decided that was less magical too, despite proving how much control we have over our own bodies. Most horrifyingly of all, we discovered celestial songs and decided it was a neat factoid and not a stunning truth of reality that stars and plants sing in the first place! Its not magic its science. Because now we have an explanation.
Bullshit.
These things are magic. Today we have learned that there are waves we have never seen, that the effect of celestial bodies spiraling through the void is tangible. Stars and planets sing and give off waves that touch and effect other things. And that is magical. We tiny creatures with blood made of star dust, we are a part of this! And science has no measure yet, but perhaps one day it will. For now though, we deal with what we know, what we experience, but which cannot yet be quantified: We are magical.

I was high off my ass last night and had this dream where I was in this dense ass forest and sitting there was a tall woman. She was so tall I couldn’t see her face but she was wearing gold and I was like “uh...hi?” And she said “I made you, do you know that?” And I nodded and she was like “I hear your thoughts. Why do you hate my creation? Why do you try to destroy yourself? I made you perfect as you are. Please don’t break my heart”. Then she started crying and it flooded and I woke up with fucking heart palpitations like what does it Mean™️????

I went and picked some blackberry stems today to makes some Witch’s Whisks and tonight I’m going to bless and cleanse them and cut all the thorns off under the full moon 🌕
Tumblr media
In traditional English witchcraft a Whitch’s Whisk was set alight and blown out to smoke, just like a sage wand. The whisk is then used to “dance and weave” around the outside of your circle. The intent was to make a boundary for sacred space. The dried blackberry stems are cut and bound together at one end with traditionally red twine for power and protection but you can use any color twine to represent what you need it too. Sometimes the end bound is also covered in a matching colored wax for extra for intent.
The smoke of the whisk was used to exorcise evil entities and negativity, cleanse and consecrate a space, ward off misfortune and banish illnesses from the house and its inhabitants.
A chant which is traditionally associated with blackberries is the following. Chant it three times, knowing that you are invoking the energy of Brigid, the Goddess of Fire, healing and protection along with other things. The same chant is used for healing purposes.
“Three ladies came from the East, One with fire and two with frost, Out with thee fire and in with thee frost”

There is an old belief in Serbian villages and small towns that certain pumpkins (and watermelons), when left outside during a full moon, will turn in to a vampire.
Happy Halloween, everyone!

The funniest thing about LOTR is Aragorn constantly overstepping the Elves’ personal boundaries. They come from a race where touching your heart is one of the highest signs of affection and he’s over here pulling them into bear hugs and slapping shoulders like a brawny middle-aged dad

A devotee is a small piece of a deity’s influence on earth. You are their agent, their image, their model and their example to the world. Doesn’t it make sense that they’d want their followers to be the happiest and healthiest people they can be? Elevating yourself through self care and self love is one of the purest acts of devotion that exists.
