The Punjab leg of the foot march began on Wednesday at Sirhind in Fatehgarh Sahib. During the yatra, Gandhi was accompanied by Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, the chairman of the Punjab Congress, Charanjit Singh Channi, a former chief minister, MPs Amar Singh and Gurjit Singh Aujla, Gurkirat Kotli, a former state legislator, Brinder Singh Dhillon, and other party officials.
During the march, many party members carried the American flag. Prior to the start of the Punjab portion of the yatra on Wednesday, Gandhi paid his obeisance at the Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib.

The incident took place in the Tehsil Camp neighbourhood of the Panipat district, adjacent to the community of Bichpari. The family that lived there had recently emigrated from West Bengal, and the authorities claim that a cylinder leak caused the residence to catch fire.
A couple and their four children were among the deceased, according to sources. The dead have been identified as Abdul, 45, his wife, 40, his two daughters, 18 and 16, and his two boys, 12 and 10. At one point, the pair was employed at a Panipat mill.

Officials said that Nupur Sharma asked Delhi Police for authorization to use self-defense.
She spoke more about receiving threats to her life after the Supreme Court's scathing remarks in July ordering her to apologise for "setting the country on fire" with her irresponsible remarks on May 26.
Additionally, individuals who had expressed support for her had received threats. There were at least two homicides involved in the case.
Umesh Kolhe, a pharmacist from Amravati, Maharashtra, who had helped her, was killed in June. Days later, a tailor in Udaipur who had expressed sympathy for Nupur Sharma on social media was fatally attacked in his shop.

A fresh instance of the XBB 1.5 strain has apparently been found in Uttarakhand. Before three instances were found in Gujarat, one case each was found in Karnataka, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan.
The XBB.1.5 strain is connected to the Omicron XBB variant, a recombinant of the Omicron BA.2.10.1 and BA.2.75 subvariants. Together, XBB and XBB.1.5 account for 44% of cases in the US.
The XBB 1.5 strain is responsible for the Covid-19 cases in the United States, but the INSACOG data has revealed that nine cases of the BF.7 strain, which is suspected to be responsible for the coronavirus outbreak in China, have been found.
