Yesterday was my birthday and I honestly wasn't expecting much to celebrate with with how difficult these past few weeks and months have been. My birthday seemed so minor relative to our nation's current real issues and I understood and felt that was the way it should be. Instead, my family and friends showed me so much love, compassion, and kindness in ways I never imagined. By the end of the day I was shedding tears of happiness for how loved and cared about I felt. Thank you for everything. 🥰 ❤ I am so fortunate to have been born in the family that I have, with the privilege that I have, and the friends I have made. Many don't recieve the same opportunities as I and it is my/our responsibility to use our privilege to fight for others who need it most right now. We need change. With my time at Moorpark over, I am finally transfering in the fall. After submitting all of my applications, I thought I would be lucky if I was even accepted to 4 or 5. I felt I had too many credits too many major changes, and took too long to graduate. However, of the twelve colleges I applied to, I was accepted at CS Channel Island, CS Northridge, Cal Lutheran, Cal Poly San Louis Obispo, Cal Poly Pomona, UC San Diego, UC Irvine, UC Berkeley Haas School of Business, USC, and UCLA. (Rejected by Stanford and Cornell 😂) I was blown away at the number of amazing choices I had before me and spent a lot of time visiting campuses and assessing programs. I narrowed it down to UC Berkeley Haas and UCLA. After visiting both campuses, I felt I could see myself the happiest and most productive at UCLA. So starting in fall 2019 I will be a Bruin! I never would have had these opportunities coming straight out of high school and I am so glad I chose to start at Moorpark. Their amazing staff helped me discover my own potential and pushed me to apply to these (what I considered) "reach schools."
