The idea for this comic came at some of my darkest hours. Wasn't my child big enough to sleep through? What had I done to deserve this three years of hell? When was the last time you had dinner out on your own? Was it liberating? After a long hard Christmas break, I took myself off to work at a restaurant one evening. It was just what I needed. I had a lot to drink and it helped me think about the big picture for 2020, tap into what I really need (networking, contact with people I love) and what I didn't need (a new job, a new personality). I just had a great time. Alone time like that, even though I was working, is so good for my soul. Mainly because I wasn't working at my kitchen table. These statistics are taken from the @fawcettsociety report on the issue. ⠀ ⠀ If you've heard about the gender pay gap then you'll know that women earn less than men on average. Sometimes they really are just lovely. It was a rough old day and I had been up all hours and had a menstrual migraine, because the world isn't cruel enough, and I was stuck on the sofa.
